  1. well there is a new state of the sanderson on the way guys
  2. So what if the critically acclaimed anime from japan the stormlight archive got made into a live action movie with american actors and an american setting. Like Dragonball Evolution. Maybe kaladin is this guy in high school and dalinar is the principal or something with kaladin being forced to do horrific labour in gym class. eventually szeth who is an assassin from a mob hired by the rich taravangian goes to kill the principal and kaladin protects him. Then aliens known as the voidbringers strike and kaladin and dalinar receive magical powers and fight in a brief war then save earth and kaladin gets the girl of his dreams. Just imagine the horrors of a dragonball evolution version of stormlight after it became an anime? I literally feel sickened and ashamed for writing this by the way.
  3. Now you are making me think of clash of clans. I mean could rithmatics in a tablet work like a raid on an enemy clan base. you can summon up your circles and chalklings and send them wherever you want so there is also a placement strategy to.
  4. I could really see (if done properly) Mistborn becoming the biggest franchise of Little Orbit and well their first actual trademark games series. Wouldn't it be great if Mistborn eventually became a big name in gaming? I do believe that there is some fine opportunity here for Little Orbit and hope that they make use of that opportunity and create something beautiful.
  5. I think Renarin and Lift need to be dropped possibly. I just think Lift is really not the character for a flashback sequence and main set of pov chapters. Sadly though she is the main edgedancer so it likely will have to be her book. For Renarin I really don't find it necessary to give him flashbacks. I feel like you can explore all you need to know about adolin and renarin through dalinar's flashbacks which would be pretty good I think. I hear something about how giving shalash flashbacks changes it so that not every book has an order of the knights radiant. If so that must be changed. I would have liked a Mr T flashback set for sure but unless he becomes a radiant which I cannot see then it wouldn't work. Originally brandon meant to give mr t a book. If he did not give mr t a book for not being of an order why would he then give 2 members of one order a book each?
  6. I have had that typo problem to lol, it kills me when I write Beandon and forget to correct it. Autocorrect is annoying and inconvenient but the moment I get rid of it this kind of thing happens lol. Edit: I was waiting for Shadows of Self since I read Alloy of Law in June 2012. So glad it is coming, it felt like it would never be made. He originally meant to write rithmatist two before shadows but I guess he changed his mind because he clearly has this as his current priority. I hope after he writes rithmatist and stormlight he will then finish the wax and wayne trilogy and not leave it going too long. Then after he finishes other important projects he should start mistborn trilogy 2 some time later. I think it is okay that way, better to not leave readers waiting too long in a trilogy, just free up time by completing other projects and start the trilogy in a less busy period of time. Also is it true that he means to put the stormlight archive on a very long hiatus after part 1 concludes?
  7. Some of the valid criticisms at the idea of mistborn as a film make me sad, they are true and I reluctantly agree. I would like Nalthis as a tv show and as a game but I hear there will only be two books and that world deserves more. Also two middle sized books are not enough in my opinion for a show.
  8. on the bright side mistborn shadows of self is confirmed for fall 2015 and the first draft is complete.
  9. I heard that Dreamworks at one point had rights to Alcatraz, I don't know as i would have somewhat liked them as some animated kids movies with great Dreamworks humour. I would love a ten season epic fantasy show called Stormlight, budget for that show might even dwarf that required for a wheel of time show since we are getting some insane stuff with all the effects, roshar and all the insane emerging systems of magic plus the cast. What do you mean by almost every cosmere book would have to be watered down? Do you mean less violent or shortened and some content cut out? I would have liked a Mistborn tv show but the problem again comes back to budget. I doubt there is any tv show out there with the budget to pull off allomancy, scadrial's atmosphere and its organisms. I think 5 seasons might work as you could definitely split books into a few seasons. The problem is that there are not great starting and stopping points to do that. Mistborn of course could just be 3 long seasons but that feels short. The good thing about a tv adaption is that all characters would be able to shine and the story and lore could really be explored. I think the best option is a trilogy of films (actually hero of ages would no doubt be split into two parts, thank you for this cycle of two parts Harry Potter). Have a trilogy of films like Lotr. I mean the lotr films were all quite long, longer than average and I think mistborn would need that. Then just have a big budget. Movies have the budget and television has the storytime. If you extended the movies you could give every character their moments and show off other cool little things. I think a trilogy of films each at least 2 and a half hours long or longer in order to not omit anything epic. Do the trilogy that way and do it precisely then use your huge budget to make something great.
  10. Yeah it has been optioned as a tv show. I have yet to read it but now that I have a Kobo I will start to download the Legion stories as they sound pretty interesting. It always irked me that i could not read some of brandon's novels because they were ebook only. Not anymore!
  11. It is likely that this kind of discussion has definitely been done before, I could not find one though and really wanted to discuss this with fellow users on this website. I am wondering what you all think would be the easiest to adapt and the most fitting for film book series by Brandon. Personally I think Steelheart would be the best option as it has a good sized cast, tons of action, post apocalyptic setting and superpowered villains. A good sized budget and good cast would allow the book to fit nicely onto screen with most of the content smoothly being transferred to the screen. What do you think would be best for a movie or tv show out of his books?
  12. I have read Firefight and now I feel embarassed that I forgot what it was.... better go home tonight and search through the book for what it is.
  13. Guys I got to read Firefight and I know more about it now. I can say that some of you got it right and shared my theory of Calamity which did turn out to be correct. I cannot wait to discuss it with all of you in January though.
  14. Ever since I heard of Mistborn Birthright (which I really hope does get released) I have been thinking of what other books by Brandon would be like as videogames. I read up on a forum in the Warbreaker thread which had some really awesome ideas. Anyway I have been thinking about what a Rithmatist videogame would be like. I do not know about any of you but I think that a Rithmatist videogame if done correctly could be amazing and a popular game franchise. I would imagine the Rithmatist as more of a non canon spinoff story. Rather than being about the battle against the wild chalklings you play as a character who is starting out as a Rithmatist and wishing to become the best rithmatist in the entire world. I imagine this more like gen 6 of pokemon with you running around the city and other areas of the world exploring and challenging other people in Rithmatic competitions. The story mode has plenty of freedom but ultimately centers on becoming the best rithmatist by entering tournaments and defeating other rithmatists. In battles it is just like the game with the same rules, defensive circles, chalklings, etc. Cool animations to represent chalklings and circles with a very detailed appearance. I think difficulty modes would be important for this. On the hardest mode you have to be as good as the rithmatists whereas easier modes will be more forgiving of the awkward circles drawn. Then have an online mode where you can compete on teams or one on one. Have a for fun mode and a for glory mode with the for glory mode being exactly like the hardest mode in single player where you have to be extremely precise with circles drawn. That is where the really skilled and competitive strategical players would compete with each other whereas for fun is more relaxed and less harsh on those who have trouble with circular precision. I think this game would be perfect on a system like the Wii U or 3Ds because of the stylus you should be using to draw circles and chalklings. Any good handheld or console that can use a stylus to draw the circles would suffice. So really anything that could use touch screen for rithmatics would work perfectly. I feel that this game would fit well with a single player somewhat like pokemon where you can explore many places and do different things along with battling different rithmatists. Also as you level up you learn new circles and you can choose which skills to strengthen with stats gained on levelling. Finally as I also said before a good online mode with competitive and casual play. I was not even a huge fan of the book but I would love this kind of competitive strategy game with a nice single player and great online. I am not necessarily sure how the gameplay in battles should work but I feel that the pokemon style rpg setting fits best. would anyone else love a videogame for rithmatics? Imagine if it got super popular and became a really popular strategy game with gaming tournaments for it. What would you all think of this kind of competitive strategy game with some smaller rpg features and a stylus as the main controller?
  15. Haha I literally just searched Birthright seconds ago and the top result was this forum so I click wanting to see if there are any replies and I see your reply about trying to search Birthright which is the exact thing that happened to me.
  16. Well remember that article about that tiny tiny gameplay booth at the E3 2012 that showed Birthright? If they were able to show it then, they can at least show it again but I think there must be something. Maybe not a trailer though I think if they intend to release it next year, they need trailers now.
  17. So E3 is going to be coming up in a few days and I am wondering if we will see an update on Mistborn Birthright there? Maybe even a teaser? I think we will at least get an update, Little Orbit is back to work on it I believe and they are still aiming for that summer 2015 release so a trailer or update right now would be the perfect time to start promoting the game. Does anyone else think we will hear something about it at this E3? They have been pretty quiet about it since they announced they were working on it months ago.
  18. Why did this get downvotes? What could possibly have annoyed people?
  19. I didn't really spend time trying to figure it out, but a friend of mine theorized that it was the death of an epic occurring near Steelheart.
  20. I am really really hyped, I won a copy of Firefight that I will receive in the summer when the final draft is completed. Of course as a fellow fan suggested, I will have to wait longer for book 3 but still it is worth it.
  21. "Or it could be Moash. Moash is basically the best example of a character who still considers themselves good even as they exhibit every attribute that Odium likes to see in a person- and he's also interested enough in redemption that being informed, 'nope, you can't have redemption ever, you are now the champion of the god of evil whether you like it or not' would be pretty horrifying." Alright first of all, I am good and there is no way I will be Odium's champion. Perhaps you instead will be his champion and I will do a good deed in defeating you and saving Roshar. If you think I am going to champion the father of hatred, you are stormin mistaken. Adding to this theory, would the person who becomes Odium's champion be "the one who will destroy us"? Recall the info on the back of twok where it said one of the four (Kaladin, Szeth, Dalinar and Shallan) would redeem us and another would destroy us? What if then this champion ends up being one of those people in a cruel joke. It would fit perfectly for Odium's champion to destroy us and if it is one of those four we could in that case have one of them unknowingly become Odium's champion despite having good intentions.
  22. Did Brandon truly say this? If that is true that pains me a lot because there is so much more to explore on Nalthis, we only really saw Hallendren, didn't see much of the other countries, there is unknown magic still, unknown histories and it seems like Nightblood would have to be an enormous book to conclude all of this as well as establishing why Vasher worldhopped. I really hope there are more Nalthis books, it is a world with fine potential. On the other hand regarding the video game, Who thinks a Manywar prequel game would offer more options to the game? You could maybe play as some soldier in the war who gradually becomes an awakener and acquires their own agendas. It could be a made up character for the game like Fiddle in Birthright.
  23. Almost seems like some bashing of Warbreaker going on here. I for one really enjoyed the book along with the characters and magic. I enjoyed the ending for leaving the door open and for generally wrapping up the storyline of that book. The ending definitely was a little rushed, I think he should have had 2-4 more chapters in there at the end but I still am quite fine with it. Regarding the criticism, I had that for Elantris rather than Warbreaker, I should probably give it a reread. I am not worried about any Sel novels because Brandon has greatly improved since then and he was nowhere near his current level back in 05. I am incredibly excited for Nightblood but that is an agonizing wait we will have to deal with. I think we need a Manywar prequel as it seems not much of the Nalthis history is known well and it would be a fantastic way to see Vasher change and develop as well as providing point of views of the other five scholars. Now that would be cool if he wrote a Manywar prequel book or trilogy with the scholars as the five central point of views.
  24. It could be that each book in the wax and wayne trilogy is 50-100 pages longer kind of like in trilogy one although I think woa was the biggest.
  25. Anyone think Hoid will have an easter egg appearance in Birthright?
