If you need to be moved up in the listing, I'm sure the other GMs would be willing to work with you (as one, I know I would at least!). That way, you can GM when it is convenient to you. The first thing I noticed is that I don't know what you mean by Stunned within the Lines of Vigor. Does that mean that their next action is canceled out as well? The other thing is determining your cycles, IMO. If you're remaking it as a QF, then you need to decide on if you're going to have the votes and the night actions happen all at once. The other option is to make both days and nights 24 hours long, IMO. Your wording is a bit strange on that, since you have the Lines of Silencing as "during the day," for example. If you have them happen all at once, that gives you a bit more play room to develop the powers, IMO, as they'll all play against each other, including votes to a degree. I love the way you've worked the Lines of Defense. It makes it so that the Forgotten could get double kills, but hinges it on them staying alive, which won't be the easiest task. If you wanted to make it simpler, I think you could cut the Rithmatic Scholar completely and just make those available powers to Rithmatics. With the change of no repeats, they wouldn't be able to technically triple vote (this might be a bit much yet) or kill multiple times without already building up a level of trust between each other. Either that or make the Rithmatic Scholar a dedicated good role, as that might be too much power if the Forgotten also got a Rithmatic. Just throwing out some ideas for now. Since I haven't read the book yet, I can't comment from a style stand point, but game play wise, those are the areas I'd look at next.

Well, that's a wrap, people! Thank you all for playing and thank you Mailliw73 for running it! If you'd like to try your hand at running a game, whether it be a Quick Fix or a Main Game, feel free to contact Gamma, Wilson or myself. Not only will we get you added to the list, but I'm sure we'd be more than willing to help out in any way we can as well! You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone over here in our Art of Game Creation thread. If you'd just like to watch, the 2nd Quick Fix game is already in progress: Quick Fix 2: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher And if you're ready to join in the fun, sign ups are still open for Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar: The Great Game
-
I'd definitely be willing to go through and do that (15 pages isn't that much. The game thread on my other forum is over 500 pages), but the question I have is why? The idea of this thread is to post an idea for a game and get some feedback on it so you can see if everything is balanced and make changes before you take it live as a GM. Either that or you're throwing out ideas for other people to take and possibly use in their games. I don't think any of the games that have been suggested in the past have made it to the point of playability without some differences to the game state/play. What reason do we have for wanting or needing to go back through them? If the person has made changes, shouldn't they be posting the modified version again when they feel they're ready for more feedback? So that's my main concern. For what reason are we separating it out? If everyone would like me to do so, I definitely will (I like Gamma's suggestion of editing a post to include something at the top if you want it included, if we go that route. That saves me not only time, but solves the question of if game posts with multiple revisions should be linked at the beginning, end, or if each one would get their own link), but this is more about brainstorming and using the combined mental capacity of the entire group to fine tune a game than it is about having actual, finished games, IMO.
-
We'll leave this open until Gamma gets his up and running, so if you have anything else you'd like to say about this game, better get in soon!

Hmmmm... The idea of a imbalance of players (or giving houses a few less players) to even possibly hint at the idea of Kandra being available could be amazing. They could be a faction of themselves with a win condition that they all survive (they would know who each other are, obviously). That might make the House Lord a bit too powerful against them (since they'd be able to basically seek them out), but it's still a neat idea if/when you decide to tweak things.

Just to let the Ghostbloods know, I was checking everyone's profiles to see who else was looking up everyone. I know the trick of hovering over their name for their current activity. I figured that some people might be doing some uber digging after the last game or checking up on people they suspect. It was a way to build a "to watch" list of sorts. Khas was actually on that list for quite awhile, but I never got enough from him to tell whether it was one way or the other! Oh and Khas? You give yourself far too little credit. You're definitely someone to watch out for in future games, as your planning was incredible. I don't want to be on the other side when you hit your stride! Alv? You've been offering other GMs offerings? I'm hurt! *sniff* You said I was the only GM for you! What was it? The Items? I could give you Items! I thought we had something special! *Runs away, sobbing* (I was wondering what the deal was with the latrines and the furniture.) You know, if you guys had approached me with the idea of making me King at the end, I might have taken you up on the offer. Probably not, considering by then we practically had you narrowed down, but it would've been tempting at least! That was a long, but enjoyable read.
-
The game is over, guys. You don't have to keep your text in blue unless you like the color! I was really hoping after that first night, where I got attacked, that I could wind up getting enough items to be King. I think it would've been hilarious to have the sadistic, almost evil himself guy wind up with the throne. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Wow, that was downright devious, Awes. Bravo. All the way up till the end, you were an incredible opponent. I haven't read through the docs yet, but I'm looking forward to it! I can see what everyone means about the Plate and stuff, but also consider that there were three possible kills per night. Without a decent amount of defensive items around, when the Ghostbloods did get the Blade, that really could've been the end of it for us! I'll bet that if we played the game again, without changing any of the rules, we'd get an entirely different result and some other item could come out looking extremely powerful (Imagine if the Ghostbloods wound up getting triple Reversers early on, for example). Personally, the highlight for me is the fact that I think the number of items and their distribution was perfect for this game. There were enough of every item that you couldn't count on a person being good just because they had a certain type of item. In a way, we've gotten used to being able to get absolute verification of some roles and that's made us a bit reliant on them. This game, we had to use subtle clues and such to determine whether someone was innocent. Early on in the game, Macen was partially convinced that the Thief must be a Ghostblood. When Adolin came forward in the PMs, saying he was the Thief, we didn't go after him because he knew I had a Spanreed and yet he never stole it. That was our only clue, but it was enough. As Wyrmhero put before, this really was a concerted win on our part. Without everyone doing their part, this easily could have been a win for the Ghostbloods, so in that right, we've proven that we don't necessarily need those roles as well. Just some initial thoughts from my perspective. Now it's time to read the Docs and see how much of it changes! Well played everyone and thank you, Maill for an amazing game!
-
Careful Macen. That almost reads as a bit too much gloating. Awesome is typically a good sport about these types of things, but I don't want to have to come down on you if you tried something like that with a newer player or something similar.
-
Tion leaned back and smiled smugly. "I kept telling everyone that I was innocent, but they were all too blinded by their hatred of someone that was willing to take charge to see it! Well, at least we can finally fulfill this vengeance pact and then I can get back to slaughtering the Parashendi in droves. They have the decency to die properly! But first, we need to finish off Khas and his brethren." It was unlikely that he would be made King now, not after everyone already thought him a possible traitor, but he still had his cunning and his tactical genius on the battlefield. He would just have to find another way to rise to power. He could still become a Highprince. He just needed one of them to die. Highprince Gavilar seemed like a good choice. The man did seem to enjoy his hunts and staging an "accident" for him wouldn't be that difficult at all.... This was such a crazy game! You guys did an amazing job staying hidden and letting everyone stay focused on me made it horribly difficult for us to actually gather information! At one point in time, I think our little group of Jost, Ace, and myself just about split at the seems because we were almost sure that one of us was a Ghostblood and since we knew that we were innocent, it had to be one of the other two. Extremely well played! This one was a nail-biter, down to the last minute.
-
In other words, the Ghostbloods are being led by Bad Horse.... We are totally screwed.
-
We have more worries than just the Painrial. If we don't make it so that they have less attacks and can't protect each other with the Painrial, then we've already lost. I've never said to not go after Awes, just not right now. He still can't be protected tonight and we can chip the plate then. By taking out one of the others first, we might get back important items and make it more difficult for them to use all their items. Then the next day, we can take out Awes and we haven't wasted a day. While I still think Humperdink has been gone a bit too much to actually be a Ghostblood, Wurum makes a good case with him jumping on and using his vote the way he has.
-
I already said that I resign myself to being killed, if for no other reason that that it will get the rest of you to stop focusing on me. Lynch away and I will give up my plate before the end of the day so that it will be publicly revealed who gets it. And know that they are protected by full Plate, Ghostbloods.
-
No. This is a bad idea... If we can believe the write up, then Awes is in Plate... That means that there are three sets of plate out there and the Ghostbloods already have one. The only Plate unaccounted for is mine, but I wouldn't be pointing this out if it was mine. Yes, yes, I'm supposedly a Ghostblood. But if I was, I - A- wouldn't be pointing this out and B-wouldn't have offered you the exact same target as what had happened. If we lynch Awes, he'll survive; mark my words. We need someone, anyone other than Awes that we actually suspect is a Ghostblood. He was the one that spoke up for a reason. I won't list names, as I've had horrible luck so far, but heed my warning here. Awes can't be protected by the Painrial twice, so he'll be taken down a notch the next night. If we can kill one today, we still stand a chance.
-
"Bold words. I will still see you hang, Awes and I will enjoy it," Tion glared at the outspoken Ghostblood. "And once we are done with you, we will do the same to your friends." He stood to address the crowd. "Most of you likely hate me. I don't blame you. Rest assured, I return the feeling.' 'But I am not your enemy today. I was never your enemy. This division is exactly how they were capable of bringing us this low, but we are Alethi, are we not? We will not just stand idly by and allow ourselves to be beaten. No, we are a proud people and we will fight! We have survived far worse and we will not go silently! From the lowliest thief, to the Heralds themselves, we do not give in! To Victory!" I swear, if you people don't come back and upvote this once you realize I'm innocent, I will hunt you down! : P

I've got to agree with Joe on the Black Market, but I love the idea! Something that I've seen used is that every post a player makes (not counting double posts and such) earns them a point of currency. This encourages people to be active in the thread and lets them earn points for items. It also means that someone couldn't just take over the Market. If they bid on an item and win it, they'll need to be incredibly active if they want to win the next bidding war, since everyone else will still have their points. And if you're on team evil and you want a lot of points, you're going to want to be very careful of all your posts so that you don't slip up and reveal something to everyone. At least that's one way to work it.
-
I just went through and tallied all the votes, so here's an up to date count: Tion- ll (Alv, Saritu) Jost- l (Wurum) Grellin- llll (Tion, Lucal, Ace, Jim Bob)

If you look back over the rules clarification Claincy gave, Maill wasn't very clear with it. He stated within 12-24 hours (which is a huge difference in time in the first place). If you look at when my challenge was issued, it was just before there was 12 hours left in the day. I was under the impression that his timing meant that the challenge had to be issued sometime before there was only 12 hours left in the day. Which is why it seemed rushed. Also, your second option leaves something to be desired, as it would (as you've proven by voting for me) back fire on me during the next day. When I've already been under such suspicion before hand, there's almost no gain in only getting a single lynch and then losing the person that they supposedly wasted so much to get in a position of pseudo-innocence. So either I'm a Ghostblood that's voting for the lynching of someone you suspect is my teammate or your list is wrong. I added Ace to half the conversations I have up with people and Jost to the other half. As I stated within the message, I did this to ensure that neither one of us could lie about the information that was shared within when it was shared elsewhere with others that weren't in the PM. I specifically set this up to keep the Ghostbloods from being able to manipulate what was said by each person and somehow that is suspicious? I also suggested caution about the PMs the first day and was brought up as a possible suspect because Fnorf and I both claimed that not having PMs wasn't the end of the world. I'd say your theory doesn't hold up, but of course I'd say that, but I also say it because there's too many holes in it. And there's my defense against the accusations leveled at me. From here, I'll let you guys make up your own mind. Just remember that the Ghostbloods are likely voting too.
-
Okay guys, here goes nothing! We have reason to suspect Grellin. First and foremost, he's the final initial Spanreed holder and it's been assumed since the very beginning that there was likely one of them that was a Ghostblood. The others have been cleared by their deaths, unfortunately. If that was the only reason, I'd have no problem with you all laughing me into oblivion, but there's more. First off, I'd like to say that there are far too many claims of Reversers for comfort. Throughout every day turn, we've only seen at most, 2 Reversers in use, but there have been claims of three to four of them present. Grellin has claimed to have one only after Pailan's death. Typcially that wouldn't be enough for me to actually think him suspicious, as the Ghostbloods very well could've gotten the Emotional Bracelet from Pailan's death, but he didn't claim to have just gotten it. He claimed to have had it since the very beginning of the game, yet he didn't tell anyone about it until after Pailan was revealed to have one. I've asked him about that specific situation and he's not replied. Fine, fair enough, considering that he said that he was going to be busy, but he's seen the messages and he's been on the forum checking out the Quick Fix game since then. If he's not a Ghostblood, then he's not helping us in any way by making himself seem even more guilty. If we're wrong, I'll be posting all of my suspicions at the end of the night, so that you'll all have them to work from in the future, wish you all good luck and gladly submit to your lynching the next day, as I'm obviously being more of a hindrance to us than a help.
-
Sorry guys, but if you kill me, we've practically lost. I have spent the last day pouring over everything I can to try to figure out who the Ghostbloods are and it comes down to Reversers. Right now, I know of 3 people who have claimed to have Reversers and they all claim to have had them from the beginning of the game. If that were the case, then there would have to be four Reversers in this game and whomever got the one from Sphinx's death still hasn't spoken up. Couple this with the fact that we've never had a day were more than two Reversers were used and yet there are supposedly so many of them out there. Someone out of those three (or multiple of them) is lying, but we don't have the luxury to just lynch on a guess of which one. If we mislynch here and there are 5 of them (worst case scenario), then by the next day it will be 6 vs 5. That is why we need Sphinx's heir to step forward. If not, we're still in the dark and will have to pick one as random and hope that we pick correctly.

Tion looked over the crowd. They were all so petty. They thought themselves worthy to make decisions. Well, they would learn over time. Once he had the crown, they would all learn their place; which was beneath him, of course. As they continued shouting out names, he stood up and let the light play off of his Shardplate. "I tire of this squabbling. You will do as I decide or you will have to go through me!' 'Decide now. Either I will die or this impostor of a Brightlord, Faialen will die." I'm invoking the ability of having a Shard to create the vote between Tion and Faialen. Considering that there would be no need for such if I was a Ghostblood (they could easily sway the results either way with the Reversers), I urge you all to vote with me. If I die due to this, anyone who voted against me should be looked at extremely closely. I won't state that they're all Ghostbloods, but if we're right about Faialen and they have the Reversers, they might try to save their own. EDIT: Quote from above for you, Wurum:
-
Tion's spies delivered Jost's writings to him, perfectly on time. If they didn't, they would receive a lashing for every minute they were late. Many decided to run rather than be late by over 15 minutes.... They were always caught in the end and punished for the time it took to catch them as well. Needless to say, Tion had developed a very loyal system in the end. After careful consideration, he deemed the ex-soldier's words to be worthwhile. After all, a good tactician knows that his underlings can have great insight and heeds their words carefully. "Send out a missive," he commanded to the scribe. "Jain may be an outlander and needs to be watched, but the true threat will come from within. Let us cull our ranks of frivolous Brightlords, like this Faialen.' 'After all, the less Brightlords there are, the more likely the fools will choose me to be King! ....Don't write that last part." Faialen (which if you hadn't included that last bit Joe, I'd suspect you of casting a no vote!) has accused a few that after last night that I deem trustworthy. If I'm getting played by the Ghostbloods, then they're doing an amazing job, but I feel confident with this vote and as Tion would say, "I DEMAND that you all follow me!" Jain, you're still high on my list, but the reason I never contacted you during the day was due to the possibility of the Ghostbloods have two Reversers. Every vote counts. If you survive this day, I promise to contact you this night, but that's the best I can do.
-
Tion took a deep breath. He needed to remain calm... and not shove a sword through the dual-eyed upstart. "If they had attacked me last night, they likely would've been blocked by whomever has the Painrial (if Jain is telling the truth, then I was protected) and it's only been two nights. If they really wanted to kill me, they'd have to wait until the next night, as the Painrial can't protect the same person twice. Plus, they might be afraid that I actually got a Shardblade and attacking me would reveal them (I won't say whether I did or not, but I did name a heir last night! )." Not actually mad. In fact, if I didn't know I was good, I'd say that's some compelling reasoning!
-
I'm waiting to hear back about some rule clarifications, Jain. We'll see what happens....
-
For the most part, I can see what you're going for now. I'm still not sold on basically only one role standing in the way and the Gyorn probably won't survive, but the Odiv has a pretty good chance of it then. That will be interesting when that happens. They've all been working together to find the Gyorn and then they have to turn on each other to find the Odiv! Thing is, it could be a quick game if the Priest happens to die early, which is entirely luck based. If one of the other roles couldn't be converted as well, then the Gyorn has a better chance of surviving simply because the Converts will have to decide between three possible candidates in the late game and then you have a back up role which can stop the Shu-Dereth from getting an easy win due to an unlucky lynch early. Everything else looks amazing and I've already called dibs amongst the other mods to make sure I get to play in it! (Sorry Wilson and Gamma!) If I see anything else or I come up with a scenario where a role might unbalance things, I'll let you know.
