  1. Yeah, there's nothing like plotting to kill everyone and lying to people to somehow bring out the comedy. I haven't gotten a chance to read the Docs yet, but I'm looking forward to it! Great game everyone! Sorry I got distracted about halfway through. We were in the process of setting up everything for the triple Mod stuff and figuring that all out.
  2. I'm just going to leave this here. This is all I can think of when I think of 'Cuddles' and our PK bunny possession also fit just too well!
  3. I'm also sorry I made it switch, Light... almost. Just in case people were wondering, at 50 reputation, you go from being a "Noble" to a "Grand." Thus, Light was a noble before some pesky player decided to make him look like he was insane. Who would do such a nefarious thing? Shame on them!
  4. I will be Tion (pronounced 'Tee-on'). He's the sadistic, ruthless, snarky, spoiled Brightlord of his house. Not only does he think he should be king, he already treats everyone as if he were. If it wasn't for his military genius and his overwhelming success during plateau runs, he probably would've been killed or at least run off the plains long ago. A few disclaimers; please remember that I chose this before we got our roles, as I plan to play him as a mix between Sadeas and Joffery from Game of Thrones. As such, I expect he will generally be a dislikable character! Considering that, I will do my best to still not demean anyone directly and to keep people's feelings in mind. If you feel like I've gone too far at any point, please let me know. I think all of you are amazing people and I'd hate for you to think that I thought of you as any less!
  5. Depends on what roles they'd start with, honestly. If they started with the thief, then the condition is too easy, as they could steal and kill each night until they get it. I'd suggest making that a secondary condition. For example; they have the initial condition of trying to outnumber the players, but if they also succeed in getting a shardblade and a soulcaster, then they get the really good ending type thing (maybe if they achieve the first, but not the second, they win, but everyone lives. If they achieve both, then they kill everyone type thing). You could also give secondary conditions to other roles then too. If a True Noble survives the entire game, they become king. If the thief manages to steal one of every item, they get some reward and so on. It'd be a bit more work for you to figure out how it'll go in the write ups, but it could be worth it. Edit: you know your start time is basically the same time that Rubix plans to start his game too. Well, he'll need time for sign ups and stuff first, but that's pretty close to the same time. Depending on how long he wants for sign ups, it shouldn't be a problem though.
  6. I plan to lock this in the near future, so if you have anything else you'd wish to add (suggestions, feedback, compliments, etc.), by all means. On top of that, if anyone would like to try their hand at running one of these Quick Fixes, either say so here or PM Wilson, Gamma, or myself. We'd like to start building a GM list so we can keep these running in the future. Tempus, if you'd like to run more of them, you're more than welcome to do so and I hope you do, as I think you've done a wonderful job with this one.
  7. This is going to work out much better for us all in the long run. This way, there will always be an impartial Mod available for people to make complaints to. When I was the main person heading everything, if I was involved with a game, I'd have to step out of the game to deal with any issues so that I could remain impartial and couldn't even accidentally use any of the information gained by handling the situation. Even then, by playing, there was always the possibility that I could be biased and not realize it. This way, there won't be any issues with that and whatever team I or Gamma or Wilson happened to be on won't lose a player (and possibly a key role) to have to deal with those types of situations. I'm not only happy to have Wilson and Gamma on board, I'm grateful. There's still a lot that goes into keeping things running smoothly and for them to be willing to help out is indeed noteworthy. So yes, meet the Mods and thank them for their time and hard work! Also, Wilson lies. I'm not chill, I'm actually hot. Like super model hot, but I don't like to brag. : P
  8. Well I came in to say that Soulcaster starts at 625, but it looks like we already got that one! You guys are quick!
  9. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the PK Doc right now! I'll bet they're fuming! Sounds about right. I don't know about everyone else, but I think you're doing great, so I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Cog breathed a sign of relief. He felt bad at doing so, since it came at the expense of someone's life, but it was one of the Pahn Kahl and probably the most dangerous one at that! He didn't know who their unknown savior was, but he mentally thanked them anyways. Their judgement had been flawless; unlike Cog's own. With that, Cog's moment of respite from the anguish of his hand in yesterday's actions blew away like smoke on the wind. He should've known better. He should've taken the time to think things through. He had almost killed one of his own gods and he had been partially responsible for the death of an innocent man. He couldn't do that again. The guilt had almost killed him itself. As such, he wouldn't come out with an accusation until he could be absolutely sure. He turned his bloodshot eyes back to his diagrams, creating new lines of connection and erasing others, all the while praying silently that his actions weren't in vain...
  10. And the rules are up here. I've moved the GM list into the main post and the Quick Fix Rules are now the 2nd post of this thread. As with most things here, suggestions and possible modifications are welcome. Tempus, let me know if there's anything you'd like switched or changed around and I'll get it changed. Have fun!
  11. While it isn't required to get a hold of me for everything, I really appreciate it that people do so. We're still in the process of getting everything set up and I'd like to keep things orderly here so that new players can find all the information and such that they would need to be able to play without having to hunt around for it. Especially for something like this, which could conflict with the possibilities of staggering games, as we've discussed in the past. As I've told Tempus, considering those things aren't in place yet and I'm not some tyrannical overlord, we're working on getting his concept set up on a trial run. If people enjoy the format and we can make them run smoothly, they could easily fill the void as the larger, more in-depth games run. We'll see how they work and after that we can come back and decide whether we want to stagger games or stick with Tempus's concept or both. And this will always be my baby, Claincy. I might not have created the Werewolves game, but I brought it here and modified it and organized it and keep it from becoming a chaotic mess. Right now, it's still in its infancy and without some structure, it could start hanging with the wrong crowd and doing drugs, so to speak. If we don't have some form of core structure, then we very well could have multiple threads of questions and multiple games trying to start up at the same time and a hundred other things that would make navigating things a bit more unclear to newcomers.
  12. Retract from Wyrm and voting for Grim then, though I would ask that Wyrm is checked tonight. That way we can confirm his status. I suggest he also just reveal himself now, so he'll have the benefit of the 5th heightening, just in case.
  13. I'm good, I'm not omniscient, Gleeman.
  14. Or, it could be that you are Drab from giving your breaths up to the Swordbearer. As Aodan points out, they likely wouldn't have enough breaths to put into an Awakened Rope at that time and those really are the only two possible actions the PK could've taken. Unless Claincy let them give their breaths to the Swordbearer on the same night as he made the Sword (due to his order of operations, they shouldn't be able to do that, so if that is what happened, Claincy should clarify that), the Swordbearer would need the breaths a full night beforehand. While I agree with Aodan that you giving your breaths to him means that you just can't be PK without Claincy giving them an inordinate amount of breath to start with, that still doesn't mean that the plan is flawed. How is it that you keep forgetting about the breath lottery when everyone keeps talking about it? They likely used it to get the breaths they needed to make a sword in the first place! Do you think that they're just going to go, "Welp, we made a Sword. We should stop trying to get other breaths now and let the Swordbearer die." They can't use the Sword for a day or two as they kill other people. I'm thinking far longer than that. You haven't actually removed the Sword from play, you've delayed it and set everyone back in the process. They lose one person, remove almost all of the breath in the game by killing Aodan, and the person who dies is not their Swordbearer, so if I were them, I would consider this an acceptable loss. Worst Case scenario for us is that they go this route and one of the Returned saves Aodan. We still lose all the breath and we're down technically two Returned, as the other will be needed to make the Mercenary functional again. We're down our Returned, we're low on breath, we still don't know who the Swordbearer is, and we'll be competing with the PK in the lottery, hoping that random chance gives us the breaths and not them. This plan just does not work because it means we still lose all the breath. Now, I don't like it being scattered about for the PK to take as they please anymore than I like this plan, but at least if it's out and about to everyone, it can be used to make strawmen and Ropes and such. Things that will help us find the PK. Things that allow us to coordinate actions per turn that make it harder for the PK to hide instead of the single action that Aodan would have if he wanted to keep the 5th Heightening protection. So I'm going to retract for Bartholomew back to my original vote of Wyrm. He's still the most suspicious to me.
  15. You guys are all missing something very important, IMO about the sword. You have to be of the 9th heightening to make one, so unless they have a returned, the Swordbearer will still have 2 breaths after making the sword (10 to reach the 9th heightening minus the 8 it takes to make the sword). That means that even if they have absolutely no other breaths, they'll still be able to use the sword once without dying. I also believe, but would like clarification on this, that a sword makes it impossible for the Returned to save that person and that lifeless are ignored as well (I might just be thinking of suggestions that were brought up in the Art of Role Creation thread, thus why I would like it clarified again). If I am correct about this, that means that the 5th heightening won't save Aodan either. All they have to do is attack Aodan with their regular attack and remove the mercenary from the picture. Then they can attack with the Sword and all the other layer of protections won't count for anything. Claincy, before we go too much further, could you give us the exact rules of the sword's powers and how they interact with forms of protection? The only thing in the initial post is that you can use it to kill someone. There is nothing about it getting around other forms of protection, up to and including the bit about the mercenary. This entire plan almost seems like it would benefit the PK more than it will benefit us. As Hero points out, all they have to do is kill Aodan and play the lottery for breath before they kill someone with it again. In the mean time, we'd lose almost all of our breaths in the game (which will likely make it so there is more breath available to them to win when they enter the lottery too) and we'd be set back to worse than square one and they'd still have a Sword. This seems like a win-win for the PK and while I still heavily suspect Wyrm and haven't seen much reason to suspect Bartbug, his constant push for a plan that seems destined to fail has me changing my mind... Edit: I went through and found the post Claincy made about the sword. It does indeed go through Lifeless and the 5th Heightening. Thus the only thing that is not mentioned is the Divine Breath of a Returned, so I'd like to verify what would happen with that.
  16. Cog spent the early morning pouring over his notes. Where typically a design for another invention would hang, he had constructed a huge diagram of everyone's actions and connections. It was a thing of beauty. When Cog was younger, he had broken the family clock. It had seemed such a simple thing and he had felt confident that he could put it back together. When he had finally gotten it open, he had been amazed at the complexity. So many little parts, working in conjunction, to make it functional. He must have stared at the inner working of the clock for hours before he set about taking it apart. In the end, he couldn't put it back together. He had realized that it wasn't just a matter of 'this piece goes here,' the exact spacing needed to be perfect for it to work. His father had tanned his hide for it, but Cog had learned something important that day; that it took more than just knowing the pieces. You also had to place them just right. The thrill of finding a puzzle he couldn't solve thrilled him to no end and had driven him to become the man he was today. As he added to his diagram, he felt that same feeling creeping into him. It made him almost forget about the loss of breath. This was a puzzle worth solving and it was far more intricate than a clock. This took into account the minute interactions of people. Everything from a raised eyebrow to a hand gesture very well could be important. The timing of those actions could be important. The company they kept could be important. And the stakes were higher too. If he failed in this, no one would "tan his hide." Instead, someone would lose their life! It was exhilarating and frightening at the same time and Cog couldn't pull himself away. When he finally left the house, he carried with him multiple canvases, rolled into cylinders. He stepped out of his workshop and almost immediately tried to shield his eyes from the sun, thus causing him to drop half of the rolls. As he gathered them back up, he overheard Gammer asking where he had been. He finished picking up the other canvases and then gestured with the final one. "My dear lady, I have been hard at work, solving this entire dilemma for us! I have here multiple lines of connections and conversions that will help us locate the final Pahn Kahl! You see, when you get right down to it, the interactions of people aren't much different than any other mechanism. You just have to be willing to look at and figure out the nuances to determine their behavior. Thus, I have a list of suspects, as is befitting since they are likely working together, that I believe are not who they say they are." Cog decided not to wait until he reached one of the typical meeting places to reveal his information. Instead, he sat down right there in the middle of the street and started laying out his sheets of canvas. "As you can see here, there are quite a few ties between Wyrm and the Pahn Kahl, Jeo, that was luckily killed last night. Our faithful bodyguard, Grim has his own connections. Both of these people need to be watched carefully, as there is a good chance that they were working with Jeo. Elo, in his violent rampages has also benefited the Pahn Kahl cause. If we look here, we can see that some people are unlikely to be Pahn Kahl. Our wanderer, Thomas would've been one of their first targets and since they couldn't know whether or not he was important, they likely chose the outsider at random, but that might just be a clever ploy. Obviously, Aodan is trustworthy, as even the lines of connection state as much. It's the same as any other machine," he said as he stood up, leaving his papers scattered around him. "The gears that are out of place will eventually reveal themselves. The machine won't work otherwise. What we have here is a village that doesn't work properly. As such, the faulty gears stand out." He gave a pointed stare at Gammers, but other than that, he crossed his arms and stood as if he challenged someone to defy his logic.
  17. I forgot to tell you guys, but the competition finished up exactly a week ago and I won! I've got one more semester at this college before moving on to get my BA and if I win the next one, I'll have won every year I've entered! Thanks to everyone that looked it over and helped me fix the mistakes. Me and my new Galaxy Tab salute you!
  18. I thought we were friends, Hero. Why you want to steal from me? Fine then! That's the last time I give you a cool title!
  19. To be fair, I included that bit to my character before we got our roles. The rest of you are just pretenders trying to make yourself seem innocent! Lynch the lot of them!
  20. Feeling drained, Cog finally closed his latest requisition; a book on Pahn Kahl history. While the text itself was heavily biased by the Hallendren author, it still hinted at their motives and helped him gain a wider understanding about what was going on. He had worked through the night and while he still didn't have anything concrete to go off of, he felt he had a better grasp of their horrible situation. As his stomach growled, he realized that not only had he missed dinner, but breakfast as well. It was past time for him to venture out and find something to eat. When Cog opened the door to his workshop, he found a small gathering of children lounging about outside. Of course, he thought. We're not the only ones affected by these murders. The children must be as frightened as the rest of us. They perked up upon seeing him and the anticipation in their eyes lifted his spirits some. Ah, the indomitably of the youthful spirit. He winked at them and then closed the door. When he reappeared, he had an armful of gadgets that he had designed and he started handing them out. He smiled as the children took the toys and ran off laughing. His smile soon faded when he sat down to dine at the Red Salmon. He could hear Jeo talking to a few other patrons about his distrust of "those Hallendrens." So we're still at each other's throats. Cog shook his head. While he hadn't stood up and shouted it from the mountain tops, he had made it clear within his circles that the Pahn Kahl must be behind this. He would have to redouble his efforts. The same thing applies to the Hallendrens too, Joe. By targeting them, we stand the chance of losing our strawmen, the roleblockers, the Commands, and all of the powers that come with the Heightenings. All that does is make it so that there is less breath in the game and right now, that would be detrimental to us as the PK would have a head start on getting breath while most of us would be trying for the lottery to catch up. To me, that seems like a pretty PK thing to say.
  21. Wow. Not fair, Aodan. I have a calc test today and now I'm going to have difficulty concentrating! That's not entirely true. I know of two other people that Vard told he was the Agent: Gammers and Ben. While I do have my suspicions of Bartholomew, I'd also say that he's basically proven to have had at least 3 breaths, since he created a strawman. I'd like to hear from the old lady and the priest before I add anymore votes!
  22. By all means, vote for me. It just means that you'll likely be on the chopping block the next day when I turn out to be innocent. I think you'll find it difficult to convince everyone else that it was a simple "oops!" after that. There's no reason that the Pahn Kahl wouldn't know his role? Why? Was Vard going around telling everyone? To me, it sounds more like you're trying to claim more information about what the Pahn Kahl should know than we have any reason to believe so far. My play allowed me to gather information early in the game and help keep me off the Pahn Kahl's radar initially. My hope was to be able to have a head start of the Pahn Kahl once we had a trust started. I've given my defense. I stated my reasoning behind why I claimed what I did. I gave reasons for why my actions would be entirely too reckless to be Pahn Kahl. If they are not convincing, then my death will vindicate me. Drops mic. (I might be coming off a bit strong, but that's just the way I play. No hard feelings if this lynch does go my way. It was a risky gambit in the first place, but one that could've really helped out the villagers if it succeeded.)
  23. Didn't I teach you guys anything about bandwagoning? Shame on yourselves.
  24. I'll admit, I'm no drab. My gambit was to try to keep the attention of the Pahn Kahl off of me, so thanks for ruining that opportunity, Bartholomew. I knew one way or the other, I'd eventually be a target, so I tried to make myself seem like the most useless target ever. There's also the fact that if I was Pahn Kahl, I would've followed through with my plan rather than creating a situation where I stood the most chance of getting caught. The Pahn Kahl are likely to try to keep their heads down a little more than that. You can lynch me today, or I'll likely die by the hands of Pahn Kahl tonight. That decision is yours. Considering I didn't win the lottery, they still won't get much breath off of me. On the other hand, Aodan contacted a few of us Hallendrens, pretending to be the Agent. I personally don't believe there is more than one Agent, as that would mean that a third of each group would be comprised of enemies. Plus his defense has been pretty lacking. It basically boils down to that there must be two Agents per side and that if he were Pahn Kahl, they wouldn't have attacked the other Agent. The thing is, the Pahn Kahl wouldn't know that Vard was the Agent until they killed him. Where you'd have to believe that I'm not only Pahn Kahl, but a pretty bad one at blending in, Aodan's situation came about purely by chance. Personally, I think he's trying to cover his tracks at this point. I'm not the least bit surprised to find him voting for me after I called him out in the PM. So if you guys want to lynch me, I'll give my breath away before the end of the day and I'll even let you guys decide who it goes to. Since I don't have much breath, if you're going to lynch someone that isn't Pahn Kahl, at least you won't be hurting yourselves too much because of it. Then again, we actually have someone who is suspicious and even if I'm wrong about there being only one Agent, then we've cleared the Idrians of anyone except the Pahn Kahl, so anyone acting suspiciously over there will stand out like a sore thumb. While I suspect that Bartholomew and Aodan might be working together to try to keep suspicion off of Aodan, I have no proof of that and it would be a risky move for them, if they are scrambling after accidentally killing of the Hallendren Agent, it also wouldn't surprise me.
  25. Your wish is my command, oh great GM! This was the first time we ran into this problem, due to Peng keeping his game all in one thread and I was able to edit mine when I was GMing, so we'll see how well this works. I'll reiterate Claincy's request to not post in the main thread for the game, please. If people do so, I'll have to lock it so we're all on the same page each game and that means more work for me and the GMs, as they'll have to send the relevant changes to me and then I'll have to edit them in. This also means that the information won't always be available in a timely manner, so please refrain from posting there. Thanks! Cog found it incredibly difficult to get out of bed the next day. When he finally did manage to, he tried to throw himself into his work, creating some new invention to help take his mind off of his decision last night, but his mind kept slipping away. Always in the back of his mind he could hear this nagging reminder that something was missing. After the third time that he found himself staring at the device without doing anything, he sighed and decided to get something to eat instead. The world outside was a bustle of activity, which just reminded Cog all the more of what he had lost. He almost went back inside, but it was then that he caught the whispers of another murder and one of his own to boot. Cog felt his resolve tighten. This was exactly the reason why he had given up his breath, to stop this from happening. It seemed he hadn't moved fast enough. He wouldn't make that same mistake again. I have a few suspicions based off this, but I'm out of time at the moment. I'll be back on later and I'll help out then.
