I guess I was expecting that the Dula's would have been the first players to have been contacted about their roles, so that they could give Hero their answer before the rest of the roles were sent out. Edrab had recieved an invitation to the Patriach's address. Maybe this'll be what I need to get over my Writer's Block. He wasn't convinced though. Still he, along with many others, gathered in the King's Court. The time came, and the Patriach appeared. "People of Kae, Domi be praised!” The began, his voice carrying well enough so that all could here him. “It is always a joy to my heart to see your faces and to be among you. But I fear the reason I have come is not a pleasant one. There is a darkness growing...” The Patriach trailed off. He tried again. “A darkness, growing among you. The Jesker-”. This time he broke of with a gasp, jerking as his chest grew red. He slowly collapsed, and attendants and priests hurried to lend aid. Panic broke loose, but over top of the raucous, the chief guard's voice rang over, commanding the doors to be barred. After the initial shock wore off, Edrab had a realization - this turn of events might be exactly what he had needed. There had been a murder, and the mystery and intrigue that was sure to follow would be the perfect subject for a new story. He got out his journal. He couldn't break straight into prose. It was neither the time nor the place for that. Better he keep a log of everything that happened, so that he could recount and then novelize the details at a later point. An added bonus would be that maybe his notes could help the investigation that was sure to follow. He turned to a new page. I need a title, I think. After a few moments, he thought of one he like - 'A Jeskeri Mystery'. He jotted it down, writing by it the day, and a brief summary of what had lead up to this point. Now, to find us some cultists.

That just makes me think of that tv show in one of those Spy Kid(s?) movies.

TMNT or some X-men team would be subsequent guesses. More research needed. Sounds like a serial, and scuttle is an interesting word.

Or what about the GM and the mod? (Building on Joe's question)

Random guesses: Hulk, or Maximum Ride (haven't read either of them, so don't really know)

Heh, that was my first thought too

You'd basically only miss the first day night cycle (a full day-night cycle is 3-4days)

Pretty sure. Think Hero's not said they've closed (I don't believe) and the game hasn't started. If I remember correctly, it's meant to start Friday.

I just had an amusing thought about Miss Isle - as her powers work now, if she looked at the moon... she would rocket up into the sky sooooo quickly (clarity and distance increase speed). I might have to change something there - otherwise this epic would have spaced herself really quickly...
-
So do I basically just post in thread and just indicate she's always been there as part of security or something (floats around in the sky cos she can), and see what happens from there? Or should I work out who she'd interact with first and stuff? (Edit: Eh, I went up at least 1 more rep level with like 16 rep over night?)
-
So current status of Miss Isle: Epic Name: Miss Isle (derived from Homing Missile) Power: Gets pulled towards whatever she's focusing on or just in the direction she's looking (if she wasn't focusing on anything). Speed determined by how well she can see the object and how far away it is. The closer it is, and the less clearly she can see it, the slower she goes. Closing her eyes lets her hover in place, and wearing sun glasses does almost the same thing (she'll still move slightly forwards, but if she's standing on the ground, she'll not notice the pull). This lets her do a Cyclops style thing where she can 'activate' her power by lifting her glasses. The pull it self acts as if every point on the surface of the object is pulling her towards it, meaning it centers her on the face of said object. Age: Mid twenties Appearance: Miss Isle's costume of choice includes a grey thigh-length dress that flares out, silver leggings, red Converses, a yellow cropped 3/4 length cardigan and a yellow bowler with a black band around the base. She has shoulder-length black hair, and has a pair of red-lensed aviators that she uses to help control her ability. Any suggestions? How would I involve her in say Corvallis?

Yup. Closing her eyes is the easiest way to stop herself from moving. Epic Name: Miss Isle (derived from Homing Missile) Power: Gets pulled towards whatever she's focusing on or just in the direction she's looking (if she wasn't focusing on anything). Speed determined by how well she can see the object and how far away it is. The closer it is, and the less clearly she can see it, the slower she goes. Woo! Someone likes it! Yeah, I thought it was amusing, and hey, it still beats The Pink Pinkness. I think I'll go with sunnies do block it. I'll have a think and try and write up like a character sheet (with a succinct explanation for how it works) tomorrow some point. Going to call it a night for now.
-
Bah, physics. (Ignoring, of course, the fact that I'm a physics major and I've done a few segments on optics and lenses). I'm divided on whether it'd be cool to do a Cyclops (x-men) style glasses thing (except she flies instead of shooting lasers out of her eyes), or saying that glasses is too easy a fix. Thinking I'd go with that clarity of an object is important, and sunnies are reducing the amount of light reaching her eyes, so is seeing the object less clearly. Normal sun glasses might slow it down a bit, but not significantly. She'd needs to be practically blinded or focusing on something super close (so actively on the lenses themselves). Again, crosseyed means she stops. And yeah, I think I'll make it all about her focus. And if she's not focusing on anything, it's just the direction her eyes are pointing at a slow hover.
-
Been using it as gender neutral, but I've now come up with a name: '(Homing) Miss Isle'. I think that's awesomely tacky enough to be epic worth so I'll say they're a she. It'd be what they focus on, if they are focusing on anything, otherwise it'd be in the direction they're facing. With a house (presuming you're outside of it), imagine each point on the surface of the object is pulling her towards it. Most of the components not perpendicular to the surface of the object would likely cancel, other than some vertical components. It probably has a centering affect. Inside, it'd be more a wall would be the 'object'. General question about powers - how much does the power depend on the individuals perception of the world as opposed to how the world really works? For instance, if she wore sunnies, she has an object (the glasses) covering her vision. However, she doesn't focus on them, rather what she see's through them. Is there any precedent for if her perception trumps how physics works?
-
They'd still move towards the shades, but seeing as they're touching him, the force would be basically nothing.
-
Well, yeah. Why walk when you can hover. Also, hovering is just cool and 'epicy'. Also, they'd still feel the pulling/pushing force when on the ground. They'd actually have the advantage of maybe resisting it (hmmm, or maybe they don't?) but who'd want to feel like they're about to get pulled off their feet all the time. And you couldn't even lean to counteract it. You look suddenly to the side - oops you got pulled in a different direction suddenly, and fell on your face, which pulled you to the ground and keeps pushing you into the ground unless you close your eyes.

Hurt'n'Heal Epics (Steelheart and Firefight spoilers)
Haelbarde replied to Curiosity's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
It's basically impossible for any of the remaining epics can achieve immunity - 12 heals would be required for any barring Finacier to achieve immunity without recieving any harm. However, to heal 12 points, 24 points of damage would be required. However 8 + 7 + 8 = 23. So for instance, if we focused on healing Brightdeath, and killed everyone else, we would get to a point where we have 19 Brightdeath and say 1 Financier. Not sure how that works, but presumes you can't harm and heal the same epic, so you could probably immunifiy Brightdeath. Otherwise, once an epic doesn't get healed, it doesn't have a shot at immunity. Financier doesn't even have a shot currently. Do these things just play out to last epic standing?
