  1. This is why I've considered getting a smartwatch/fitness band, or a Bluetooth tag for my keys, so that it notifies me if I get too far from my phone...
  2. I suspect that thinks will come in the update planned before the end of the year - forge is still coming, and at the very least, Big Team Battle will be added in then. I suspect that at the start, they've just wanted to showcase some of the new things they've made, like Warzone and Breakout, making sure the essentials are still there too. The matchmaking is better than the MCC, IMO. I find it really hard to find a game of anything in the MCC. So in that sense, Halo 5 is better. I do wish you could party up automatically, rather than having to find a new group each game.
  3. Hal watched with curiosity and surprise as Lady Kiireon took his old Shard from what remained of Hal's worthiest opponent. Maybe the legends of her past have some merit? He couldn't think why else she might seek the Shard of Hate. He followed her at a distance as she walked away from the monument to Wilkin. A shortwhile later, she stopped, shedding the illusion of Wikin she had donned when taking the Shard. He felt her begin to open herself to the Shard's power, seeking something. He made sure his residual Investiture was hidden, hoping that any trace would be hidden by his close proximity to the original source of the power, a quiet murmur in the midst of a raging battle. She seemed to find whatever it was that she was looking for, as she worldhopped moments later. Hal followed. He observed as she entered a tavern. He entered just as he heard someone call out her name. "Kiireon." She had been walking, but froze as her name was called out. A few moments passed as she identified who it was, and what it meant. She sat down at the man's table, appearing somewhat deflated. Obviously this man was who she'd been seeking, but it seemed it was not who she was expected. Hal positioned himself where he could hear their conversation while out of sight. "You're alive?" he heard the man say. At that moment Hal realized who it was, and his blood froze over. He immediately shifted, Hopping to a rooftop of a nearby building. He knew exactly who this man was, and he Hated him. This was the man who murdered his uncle, though Kiireon had vouched for him. Had he any real physical presence, he would have returned to the tavern, and killed the man on the spot. But he didn't, so he couldn't. While these thoughts tumbled around his head, he suddenly felt something shift. Odium had a new wielder. He focused. Yes, Edaan now bore Odium. A fury rose up in him, but then subsided as something dawned on him. Edaan had once loved Kiireon, and likely still did. But now he bore the Shard of Hate, and slowly, but surely, it would turn him, and eventually the man would grow to Hate Kiireon for who she was and what she had done. Hal could think of no better punishment for such a murderer. Hal shifted away, before either of them left. Seeing Kiireon reminded him of a loose-end he had not yet tied, of a final letter to Wilkin that had remained unsent. He traveled to the abode of the scribe who he had left it with to send the letter to Wilkin upon the conclusion of the Shardic conflict. The conflict had since ended, but Wilkin had been one of it's victims, so the letter no longer had a place to go. He sat in an armchair and read the words he had penned in the days leading up to his own death. The yellowed parchment had been folded, sealed with red wax, bearing the ensignia of Clan Heatherlocke, infused with a sense of Hatred, which emanated from It. He broke the seal and began to read. To Wilkin, If you are reading this, then I must have died at the hands of you and your fellows, and this letter must have been finally delivered this once things calmed down. I would like to congratulate you on your victory. While your friends all had power, they only became a threat due to your personal effort to make an effective response to the threat you perceived me and mine to be. I know that we both gave it our all, and you came out victorious. I can respect that. Do I have regrets? Maybe. Carefully laid plans which were unable to be set into motion, that would have changed the course of events. But I don't regret bearing the Shard that is Odium. I had fulfilled my mission before having The Stranger's gift forced upon me. So fair well in what ever you do once events have played their course. Do not treat the others of Clan Heatherlocke for my sake. I acted on my own, separate from any Heatherlocke operation. If you seek to lay blame, hunt down The Stranger. I do not know how you received your own Shard, but if it was from him, know that you cannot trust him. Regards, Hal Heatherlocke Lord Odium While Wilkin was no longer in a position to read this, Kiireon was. He would send it to her, but add an additional note to the end of the message. Lady Kiireon, Surprise! I survived. Mostly. Wilkin spoke of your survival in the correspondence we briefly exchanged. The Heatherlocke clan had no idea that you had survived the Desolation of Kae. They will be interested to hear this news. I see you found Edaan. Though I am surprised you found him, I have yet to decide if I am surprised by your actions in giving him that Shard. However, I am pleased with this turn of events. I can think of no better punishment for the murderer of Edrab Leah Heatherlocke. Should the time come that he must be put down, I will gladly give any aid I could offer. I know that I no longer have a place that I can go - the Heatherlocke Clan will not welcome me back. But I can understand that. I shall watch, and be content, and when there is a Heatherlocke that falls astray, maybe I'll exert some influence to help them out. We shall see. Some Heatherlockes may fall. When I went back to watch from a far, I noticed something new. Each of them bore the seed of Hate. I do not know if it was always there, and I just could not sense it, or if it is new, but the point is, it is there. In most, the seed will never take root. But the potential is there. It will happen again. There is one last thing, a parting gift, and a peace offering, if you will. Did you ever wonder about why I was on Sel, when this all started? I'm sure you knew I was there. You will know that Edrab's family fled across the sea to the Empire, where Ableah took them in. When other political factions murdered Ableah, his awakened weapon was lost, and once we fled to Roshar, we were no longer in a position to recover it. I found it. Discord. It was at the moment that The Stranger gave me his Hateful gift. So I hid Discord, in a place where I knew no one would think to look. This will be my gift to you. And a warning. Don't come after me. You won't find me. And I can afford to let you have Discord. Keep that in mind. So, where did I hide it? In Wilkin's house. Specifically, tied to the underside of his bed. Do with it what you wish. Regards, Hal 'Berd' Heatherlocke With that, he resealed the letter, marking it for delivery to Lady Kiieron.
  4. My experience thus far has been this: The campaign is definitely more interesting than Halo 4 (which I find long and boring). Don't know how I'd rank it compared to the other games. I've had a fair bit of interest and engagement in the expanded universe, and it referenced stuff from stuff I've read, which I thought was cool. It explains a few forerunner things, which is nice. As far as difficulty is concerned, I didn't find Heroic too bad, but I've not tried Legendary yet. I will say this though. Hunters have to be the most annoying enemy. Definitely feel more challenging than previous games. I also felt like the campaign could have stood to be longer (though I was only on Heroic, didn't worry about collecting stuff, and ran past larger battles when possible). The Multiplayer I like. It feels Halo 3 with enhanced mobility (which was the most annoying thing returning to 3 after playing Reach and 4). So no more loadouts, equal starts, and power ups on the maps, which are all good things. Admittedly, I do miss BR starts, but I can play SWAT and I'm sure they'll as Slayer BRs eventually. Though it took me a few games to get used to it, I'm liking the new slayer game mode, Breakout. Will likely play swat more, but it's still pretty good. Warzone is pretty cool, I think, but I've yet to work out how to actually be any good at it. The other new thing is the Req packs. Actually pretty happy with how they work. Even if you have no interest in playing Warzone, you can just sell all of the stuff you get in them for more Req points, which puts you closer to getting another pack, which means new armor or visors or skins, etc. I wouldn't have minded if there were a bunch of unlocks you could get from achievements, Halo 3 style, though I know there's a few you can get from MCC achievements.
  5. Been playing a bit of Halo 5 since it released yesterday. Any other Sharders out there playing it too? What do you think so far?
  6. I may or may not have had a Kickstarter addiction last year... The first Kickstarter I backed was called 'The Mandate' - a video game. That's still in development. But other than that, the rest have been boardgame related. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV), shipping to Australia is usually expensive, so that usually has restricted me to smaller games at good price points. Two standouts that I've backed were Asking for Trobils and Viceroy, both of which had a low price and cheap (or even free!) shipping, while still being what I'd consider full sized board games. There have been many others - I've got a number of games from the publisher 'Indie Cards and Board Games', including The Resistance and Flash Point: Fire Rescue (and expansions). I actually recieved a boardgame from a Kickstarter project this morning. The game is called 'Burgle Bros' and I consider to basically be 'Oceans Eleven: The Board Game'. It's a cooperative heist game, and players get to choose from 9 different roles/characters, each with their own ability to bring to the team. Haven't had the time to play it yet, but I look forward to doing so!
  7. The other thing is you could keep the 'you must die' condition for the initial holder, but once it's shifted, it becomes secondary?
  8. If you are interested in the problem, do read Kurk's megapost on the topic here.
  9. I would consider doing something like this. Though, I'd feel the need to reread the books...
  10. I've got nothing more than a single thought for discussion, but from reading Kurk's megathread on time bubbles, we've known that we're missing an important piece of the puzzle with working out how FTL works. One of the sources Kurk cites is this WoB, where Brandon comments that '[FTL] involves Allomantic abilities which we don't know about yet.' Now, in SoS, and particularly in the Arcanum, we see Nazh posit that Twinborn get the two powers and an effect. Is it possible this is the first hint at the missing piece? Or these Allomantic abilities still more likely to relate to Mechanical Allomancy? Or actually something further again (you know, alloys with new metals...)
  11. Anyone read xkcd? Because this comic seems somewhat relevant to this discussion: Explanation of comic here, if needed. Slightly more on topic, where's Kurkistan when you need him!?! Here is his mega post on the topic, if anyone was wandering. I suspect this is what the OP came across.
  12. Oh, I agree that the rules re: Endow were quite unclear. I had thought that once Endow got a Shard, they could use it once, at any point, rather than needing to Invest the same cycle. Though with the repeat kills, I think that was more a matter of things being forgotten (everyone forgot stuff. I forgot stuff, and reading the dead doc, you'll see that lots of us their forgot stuff while spectating too). A couple of people died at Endowment's hand due to Ruin. Araris was the first, but there were a number of others who followed (I think Nicoco was one of the last?). You know something cool that could have happened? The day that Wilson outed Alvron and I as OC, we could have both put our votes on Wilson early, used Raven (the Dominion Investee at the time) to shift someone's vote onto Wilson, and then got Alvron to use Dominion's action change to activate Ultimate Preservation. Wilson would have had 3 votes on her, and then because of Ultimate Preservation, any further votes and actions would not have worked. Unfortunately, I didn't think of that till the turn after :'(
  13. Apologies for anything I may have said. Re: 1, it was just hard seeing as there wasn't a lot happening in thread. Re: 2, you guys should have been using Ruin. Every time Stink invested you with Ruin, he could have made a kill which would work on Shard and non-Shard alike, without having to worry about bluffing or anything. You could have then returned the shard during the day turn to repeat next turn. I guess that's more what got me. But I guess it comes down to we assumed you and Stink would have been in communication, planning, when in fact communication lines were down.
