Long Game 102: Re-Awakening at the House on the Hill
Sart replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It got people talking, so I'd consider it a success. Any chance of a vote? Thank you, but I'd like to decline. In every scenario, it's a disadvantage for me to reveal it. If there's an elim, whether a group of serial killer, it would reveal if I'm likely to have an item. If it's a free for all, I don't want anyone knowing what I have. Given that everyone claims to have distributed themselves fairly evenly, it doesn't impact the probability all that much. Who do you vote for? Last I checked, you're the one on the chopping block. At least it roused you. I knew it would be a controversial statement, but I needed to kick start the conversation. It's essentially killing based on role distribution, which is a path that leads to madness. I think we're all going mad in here though, so I might as well bring it up. Any vote? -
Long Game 102: Re-Awakening at the House on the Hill
Sart replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Father Rhinehardt examined the too quiet crowd. No one wanted to address what needed to be done. Someone had clearly trapped them in here, but everyone was hesitant to accuse one another. This would not do. If everyone stayed quiet, they would not be able to discern who was against them. But how to drive discussion? Rhinehardt decided to make a bold proclamation, in order to spur disagreement. "From Day 2 and onward, it is best to kill those who went to the basement." That was the cold, hard truth. However, Rhinehardt was a man of faith, not a man of science. Just because something was technically true, did not make it right. This idea of killing someone based on the smallest of choices was distasteful. Still, it gave them a frame of reference, a way to color the discussion. He would first defend his bold claim. Then he would argue why they should not religiously follow it. "By divine insight we know of three possible scenarios in which we may be trapped. I will go through each of them." "In the first scenario, there is a group of vagabonds set out against us. There would be at least two of them. We know that they would be concentrated in the basement, to do their dark rights. It would be a coin flip whether they explored down there, or ventured above, to blend in with the others. With two of them, it would be highly likely that at least one would be in the basement. By his reckoning, there was at least an 80% chance of one being down there, if this scenario was picked. This is the best reason for hunting the basement." "However, detractors would say that that is only one scenario. Therefore, we must consider other possibilities. Let us consider the second scenario." The worst scenario, he mentally added. "In this, we are trapped here in a state of madness. It would be every man for himself. A bloodbath." He did not like to consider it, but it could happen. "In this scenario, who should we target? Simple. Anyone who has an advantage over the rest of us. And who would that be? Simple. Anyone who explored the basement. They would be the one with roles and special gifts. Is this a good justification for killing someone? Not particularly, but in this scenario, we won't really need one." "Now, let us address the final scenario. In this one, a shapeshifter would be puppeteering our corpses. A dreadful prospect, but that gives us clues as to his identity. Where would this serial killer leap to? It would essentially be random. But here's the kicker. What would cause this scenario? A preponderance of people heading to the basement. Therefore, if the kill truly was random, to play the odds, we would kill those in the basement. This is the weakest argument though. The kandra would be smart, and by me announcing this strategy out loud, it creates an I know you know situation. In addition, the distribution of who explored what appears to be relatively even, so this is not foolproof. To be clear, it is a weak argument, but an argument none the less." "So, in all three scenarios, there are reasonable arguments for executing someone in the basement. However, I am loathe to surrender to a god of probability. We cannot rely on mere luck to survive this. We must have faith! We must examine our fellows, and determine if they are possessed by some evil spirit. That is why communication is critical. I am disappointed by the lack of talk. I know I have been guilty of this, but I hope this can make a discussion more fruitful." "As for my vote, I am content for where it is. That man was clearly crazed leaving the basement, and nothing he has said since has made me trust him more. He has backpedaled on his claims, floating the idea of killing those in the basement, but not following up on it. With this little of information to go on, I gladly vote for him." -

Long Game 102: Re-Awakening at the House on the Hill
Sart replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"Should we really be announcing where we are going?" Father Rhinehardt felt like he had been in these sorts of situations before. Things could get... troubling if people blamed each other for what had happened to them. Suspicion would fall based on minute actions, such as running upstairs on downstairs. It might be better to put some distance between themselves. -

Seriously? Don't want to be hit by pitch, but that's way outside the strike zone. Gotta admit, it is a nice way of sowing paranoia. So, who's calling your shots right now? You gotta read the signals to make the right throw. -

The deadrunners didn't need to do too much to finish off the ship. Barron had apparently drunk himself to death, and had fallen off the ship at some point. Rob Hertz, having grown mad from paranoia, struck out at the man who was not named Aman. The man was drenched in despair, and didn't fight the blows. He gave a salute, as he croaked, "For ever, that is all." His hands bloodied from the beatings, Rob looked up to see Brandon playing a tune, unconcerned with the violence unfolding. Bee quickly grabbed the madman, and put him out of his misery. As for JNV, no one knew where he ended up. He had been carried off by the four winds, and although Aeternum kept a lookout, there was no sign of him. The deadrunners had taken the ship. It was time for plundering. Hairy Barron has died from inactivity. He was a member of the Loyal Crew Amanuensis has died. He was a member of the Loyal Crew The Deadrunners outnumber the members of the Loyal Crew. The Deadrunners have won the game! Vote Count: Amanuensis (3): Amanuensis, Drake Marshall, RoyalBeeMage Player List: Docs:

The ship was in chaos. At night, the men hurried to their conversations, plotting, scheming, trying to find some order in the paranoia. They failed. Two deaths rocked the ship that night. Both were loyal crew men. Revir and Kelwin has both died in the night, but on separate ends of the ship. The survivors were growing paranoid, having failed to find any deadrunners. As the sun broke on the third day, it brought no relief. It was hot, and the ship was stuck, no fluidization to get them moving again. TheRavenHasLanded has died. They were a member of the Loyal Crew. Kasimir has died. He was a member of the Loyal Crew. This Day will end in 48 hours on March 16th at 9 PM EST. Also, @Hairybarron is in danger of dying to inactivity. If he fails to post this day, he will be removed from the game. Spore Supply: Player List:

The grumblings of the crew were a quiet thing. They had seen several dead bodies, and they felt almost shell shocked. There was some grumbling about B-mage, but it felt uncommitted, halfhearted at best. Kelwin sighed, and with a curse on his lips, accused Morrigan of treachery. The ship wasn't sure what to do. Suddenly, a flash of light burst into the scene. It was Bald Brandon, trying to grab some Sunlight Spores for the night. The flash enraged Morrigan's bird, who went mad with anger. Chicken started clawing at Morrigan's face, shredding it to bits. The sailors, taking this as a sign, followed the bird's lead, and consigned Morrigan to her fate. Sadly, the bird regained its senses, but too late. Its owner was already dead. Faerie Braids was killed. She was a member of the Loyal Crew. The Night will end in 24 hours, at 9 PM EST on March 14th. Grant stumbled out of his cabin, bleeding. How had this happened? What maniac had killed him? His eyes darted among the shadows, seeing killers in every nook and cranny. What was happening? Why him? Why now? He sprawled out onto the floor, his eyes rolling back. The Spores he thought The Spores are going to get wet. As he bled out, his blood dripped downward, near the spores store. However, not a single one sprouted, as the blood missed by the smallest of margins. It was a miracle, but Grant could not appreciate it. He had already passed on. TJ has died. He was a member of the Loyal Crew. Spore Supply: Player List: The Day will end in 48 hours on March 13th, at 9 PM EST.

Aeoryi swore at the other sailors. "Ye fools! I be a loyal crewmen aboard this ship. Your foolishness will be the end of us all. I pray to ol' Ironeyes for revenge, and pray I see ye after I enter his realm." Not wanting the crew to do any sort of violence upon them, Aeoryi leaped from the ship, landing in the Spores below. As they expanded from the water in her body, the ship rocked, and then steadied. There were no cheers, and as day became night, many plans began to hatch. Aeoryi has died. She was a member of the Loyal Crew. Vote Count: Spores Taken: Spore Supply: Player List: The Night will end on March 11th, at 9 PM EST.

If Sunlight Spores are oversubscribed during the day, it affects the votes of that day. If they are oversubscribed during the night, it affects the votes the following day. You can take spores during the night and the day. You can take one spore during each day, and one spore during each night.
