There's a building chill in the air. High in the sky to the far away place Where the wind goes to sleep every year On the edge of the void, the brink of despair, Where the Heralds might sleep with their Blades held bare. There's a pattern to the buffeting winds, Bounding like axehounds a-chase of their prey, Like the chasmfiend striking the stone. It's in the clatter and scrape of far-off claws, The Voids that tail the storm. There's a shadow above our minds. Looming silence, unseen, above unseen silence looms, Ten Deaths in the shape of the dark twisting clouds. The blackstorm we know like an old faithful friend, Its winds we can bear on our backs. The everswift tempest that sweeps red and quick, She kills with the lightning of spren. Don't anger the god who's anger unleashed, He'll take you in that storm Twist your mind dark and red, Spit you out to do horrid things. Nothing can save us. Almighty, nothing can save us. Let the storms Surge away us And leave peace in the soft drift of empty seas.

Just read 'em and keep an eye out for Spook
-
Though that does not mean he didn't give a Shardblade to crazyTaln.

It tends to devolve into "Firestarting" after a while

Plus the odd Vorin gambling games where you guess at the cards already dealt.

Buy. Hoid knows all the Hemalurgic bindpoints.

If there's some way to store the allomantic effect feruchemically, though - if you could burn aluminum and store it in a metalmind without giving it a chance to cleanse your Investiture - you could do a controlled release of the cleansing effect.

Sell. It's the whole basis for his character, and Brandon has released sample chapters featuring him.

It's fixed now Tempus made some funny joke profile pics. Get it? Swimming-Lee?

Buy. Because it already was, in the preview chapters, and will likely stay that way unless Brandon changes the world's linguistics.

So my rank is... Wit Killer? Mwhahahahaah! Watch out, Hoid!

Shallan and slaves - analysis of a single scene
Swimmingly replied to kari-no-sugata's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah, as an embittered depressed cynical downtrodden former slave, Kaladin's view of the whole matter may be a little biased. On a bridge man's wage, it's next to impossible, but on the wage Shallan's giving them, it would probably only take five or six years at most. -
[Theory] Honorblades and Nightblood.
Swimmingly replied to Laughing Fool's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The only problem I have with this is that Szeth never did exhibit those Protecting/Leading qualities. On the other hand, it may require a lot longer to shape someone. On the other other hand, maybe it was in part that conflict - between the Intent of his blade and his actions - that resulted is insanity. Excellent theory! Welcome to the 17th Shard. Please collect your Hoid-hunting kit from Chaos and you'll be ready to go!- 9 replies

Mistborn, all of them as far as I know. It's Spook's province.

Buy. If it's Odium, he's commited Shardicide before, and will again. Hoid's favourite colour is octarine.

Of course, the first Alethi to develop actual wizardry had the uneasy distinction of being both a mudblood and a lighteyes - on the third dahn. He had been a ringleader for the Alethi boys, but was ultimately ostrasized from the group when the elitists stopped talking to him. Having never owned a Shardblade, unable to read, shunned by the Purebloods and lighteyes, mocked by the darkeyes, and honestly pretty terrible at magic, he ran away into the Forbidden Forest and was never seen again.

But she'd, by the power of plot, randomly scan the pages she needed to, or at least the one hint in there that they need to base their whole strategy around. Possibly with a lack of context causing it to all go horribly, horribly wrong, but rust happens. Shallan, the Remarkable Human Photocopier.

I think when metal is used Allomantically, it filters back into the planet? Don't quote me on it. The quantities actually used, compared to a building project, would be small enough that it would make no difference anyway.

I was thinking more using her Memory to take down the entire thing in five minutes or so.

"Eh, gancho, we've been through so much together you're practically my cousin!" "Um...Thanks, Lopen..." "NOW DO MY BIDDING, WHELP. THE POWER OF COUSINS COMPELS YOU."

Though Mr. T does have that handy binder of the translations, all in one place, while a certain illusionist with experience at sneak-theiving using her power begins to infiltrate the tangled web of Rosharian secret societies.

the most useless uses for useful powers

Store weight for a hundred years, then, on your birthday, crush the world. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Swimmingly replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Huh. That's a good point. Now that Ruin and Preservation are one, maybe the mists don't react like that anymore. -
It's the power of technology. Whenever you say, "I can fix this myself," you will fail. You will then ask a friend. He will proceed to do exactly what you did, or tell you to do exactly what you did. You will rail and hedge, but then the solution is tried a second time - and it works. This is similar to the phenomenon that prevents a USB cable from entering on the first or second try.
