Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
PK, I discussed this before, but I am of the opinion that BB being scanned would help the eliminators more since he was basically dead anyways, so why waste a scan. And for the last point, it isn't really a matter of suspicion (as I understand it). Ada just has a list of roles and a suspected role distribution among the eliminators, and you fit into that. Unfortunately, his list of 8 people isn't quite as helpful as a shorter one, so I tried to bring something else to the table. Anyway, you are still the person I am most suspicious of, for now. That could switch if someone else briings something new or if I have enough time to read back through the thread. Where are our quick links this game? Could someone outline for me what all Kipper has done that is suspect?- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ok so here is what I have on PK: He was the second person to place a vote on Alfa, who we have soft-confirmed as good, and several of his reasons were flawed. He was the second person to put a Kandra vote on BB, which was fairly short before quite a few more votes started stacking on BB. (I may be one of the only people that actually thinks that this is suspicious) PK hasn't made too many posts. In the 5 cycles we have completed so far, he has only voted 3 times. One of those was on Wilson after we knew she was bad, so it doesn't really mean anything. Aside from the vote on Alfa, the only other vote PK has made was on Creccio to break the tie between him and Wilson. Hellscythe pointed out a discrepancy with PK's activity level in this game compared to LG15a And then conveniently PK showed up on the list that Ada posted, which is what inspired me to actually compile this, although it isn't too much.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wow! That is really scary that basically everyone role revealed... As for the list that Adavantos posted, I think that a few of them are solid candidates for being eliminators, since they have, for the most part, accumulated some suspicion. I'm not too sure what is up with Phatt, Alvron and Steph though. They all seem just to be quieter players, although I have no PMs so they might have been more active in the night cycles. If we assume that there are 7 eliminators, then 2 uninvested and a hemalurgist seems pretty balanced. But that seems a little boring. In my experience team evil tends to have more roles and less people, which gives them more room for strategy and less of error. Although, having 2 uninvested players with the forger role might make a 7 person team a little overpowered, though fortunately we don't have to deal with that. The game could practically have ended upon the death of a mistborn if there was still an evil forger. So I guess my gut is telling me that there are less eliminators than the list you gave, Ada. Hellscythe, you can't scan people, so where is that coming from? Especially since you were wrong last cycle about Bort. And I am leaning toward placing my vote on PK, but I need to go back and make sure that I am not remembering things wrong from earlier in the thread.- 1686 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Hadrian Penrod knew he was in trouble when the rumors began. Nobody would say it to his face, of course, but his spies knew what the skaa were talking about. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, really. His House had peace in the mist of a massive skaa rebellion that spanned the entire empire. A house on such friendly terms with the skaa surely had at least one member that had gotten more than friendly... But Hadrain knew that nothing of the sort was true. Any doubts of mixed blood in his house had been quelled when one of the Inquisitors had taken several Penrods in for questioning. If the Inquisition was looking for half-breeds and couldn't find any, then none existed, period. But something had to be done, or more of the Lord Ruler's monsters would be visiting soon. From the central square in Fellise, the city didn't look too different from any other city Hadrian had visited or read about in the Final Empire. Everything was coated by ash, despite the best efforts of the skaa to keep things clean. But as he lowered his gaze from the rooftops down to the collected population of the city, the real difference became noticeable. The skaa weren't cleaner than other skaa. But they had something in them that skaa elsewhere were missing, a will to live and to grow and to succeed, and see their families safe and healthy. And it was his job to see that things stayed that way. "Citizens of Fellise! Skaa and noblemen! I have called this gathering to address matters of importance through the Empire and within our city as well. The first matter is something my house had hoped to never address. You all know that the Inquisition forbids the union between skaa and nobility. House Penrod is aware of the injustice of this ruling, but is subject to the will of the Lord Ruler. The difference between our city and others, however, is that skaa women are not helpless, but instead protected by the law. That mean that they are equally liable for any forbidden children, just as a nobleman would be. Our city stands as a pillar of what the Empire could be, in another world. What it still could be in this one, even. But we are only one House, one city. We cannot change the world in an eyeblink, and even if we could the Lord Ruler cannot be defied. So though it pains me greatly to do so, I proclaim that House Penrod will actively seek out forbidden couples and serve them the death penalty. Neither noble nor skaa or either gender is exempt. House Penrod must remain in the favor of the Inquisition to continue to provide the life it does for the skaa. Any people that tarnish our reputation, by intention or by accident, are selfishly risking the safety of every person within Fellise, and that cannot be tolerated. "As for the second matter I wish to discuss, you all know of the atrocity that occurred at the military contest. House Penrod always forgoes active participation in public events in order to maintain unbiased and accurate records. And disgusted as we were by the murders that we were watching, we wrote down a detailed account of what happened, and any who wish to read what happened may read the account at our House. In memory of those skaa, whose lives sparked this rebellion, each year, one week shall be declared a holiday for all skaa in Fellise and other areas under the control of House Penrod. During that week each family will have a single day during which it has no duties and may instead remember the people who died during the Great Skaa Revolt. Thank you." Actions:- 868 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, I am a bit worried about what happened last cycle. I was pretty excited when people were voting on Alfa, because that means that there is no mentality of safe roles in this game. That was good. But then nobody was bringing up anything new. There were just more and more votes on Alfa. And then everything (or enough, at least) switched over to Bort, because nobody actually wanted to kill a hemaurgist. It feels a bit like cycle 1 to me. One thing I am curious about is the vote tally. Elkanah had a tally that showed a 3-3 tie between Bort and Alfa. Now, I'm pretty sure this indicates that the eliminators don't have a feruchemist, or there would have been a tie or Alfa would have died. (why miss a free lynch of a hemalurgist). This is of course assuming that Alfa is clean. If he isn't then it points towards an eliminator feruchemist. But why does the vote tally today show 4-0, rather than 4-2? Did Elkanah just goof up somewhere in their tally? I think that our Mistborn should continue to go after inactive players, and it seems like Cow is the most conspicuous of those. And then the Kandra should probably scan Alfa, to tell us a bit about how many loyal hemalurgists are left and the mindset of that feruchemist. I promised a long post with suspicions in it, and that should come in around when the next cycle starts so that the eliminator kills can't be a reaction to something that I have said.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry guys, I said I would do some analysis, but I have been fairly busy this weekend, more than I thought originally. So this post doesn't have anything about my opinions on players (which I haven't really formed yet). But I do think that it is a bit dangerous how much voting has been going on this cycle without very much discussion. I know last cycle I said I was worried about the lack of votes, but we should be able to find a balance where we actually share what we are thinking about, then place a vote that fits that discussion, and not every vote is based on "I agree/disagree with x." Like I am planning to do, we should actually go back through previous cycles and see if there are any further patterns we can pick up based on the two eliminators we have found and in light of the recent deaths. And I am on break starting Tuesday night, so start voting for me if I don't put out a substantial post by then or sometime on Wednesday. Also, it is possible that Alfa just didn't realize that they had lost their forging powers. Just would like to point that out in absence of any posts from Alfa.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Arraenae: It is possible that the elimiantors are suspicious of quiet players as the ones with stronger roles like mistborn and elantrian. I support this suspicion of Alfa, and agree that we can't assume that Alfa is good. However I'm not sure if it is worth us making the lynch, although I suppose we could probably guess whether the HI changes sides if Alfa is good. It is possible that we might want to wait and scan Alfa, since this is a case where the player being alive is fairly beneficial if they are actually on team good (although this isn't quite as true since Alfa has been fairly quiet). I kind of wanted to vote for STINK but I agree with his posts this cycle so I will hold off on that, and I don't really have enough time right now to go find new suspicions. I am going to look at the list of people who Kandra voted for BB tomorrow, and hopefully glean a vote off of that.- 1686 replies

Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm a bit worried right now about the general lack of votes being placed. There is a healthy amount of discussion going on which is great, but at this rate I am worried that people are going to sit back and let a no-lynch happen. I'm not really going to be available for much of the rest of this cycle and I haven't had too much time to do any analysis. So my vote will sit where it is probably for the rest of the cycle, unless Honey has posted something substantial by tomorrow morning.- 1686 replies

I guess you can take that stance if you want to. Yeah, having a forger would be (really) useful for grabbing mistborn later in the game. But do you honestly believe that if we hadn't killed BB that he would have survived the next day? And do you think that the eliminators wouldn't have realized the same thing? Like I said, I think that the Kandra vote has info in it like the lynch vote, but I think you are looking in the wrong place.- 1686 replies

@Burnt Spaghetti: Think of it this way: I highly doubt the eliminators would have risked themselves to save BB at that point. He was basically dead (I thought from the next day lynch, turns out it was sooner), and I would think that the eliminators would use that as an opportunity to throw him under the bus and gain credibility as a result, while wasting a Kandra scan to seal the deal. If there is anyone to be suspected from the Kandra vote then I would look at the people who voted for BB early on. The early ones were Adavantos (who we will hopefully have confirmation on soon), PK, Elbereth and Lopen.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The first thing I would like to say is props to the Mistborn that shot BB! Now the lynch isn't tied up today like it was with Wilson's reveal, so we can have some actual discussion. Adavantos, the thing about your plan with the Kandra scan is that some people (or at least me) viewed scanning BB as objectively worse than scanning you. Look at it like this: scan an evil person and you still have to lynch them, scan a good person and you can use the lynch to gain more information. So it makes sense to scan a more trustworthy player to (most likely) gain the informational value of the lynch as well. On that topic, do we have a reading from our Kandra on Adavantos? Should we lynch him? Also, Orlok, I feel like I have plenty of freedom in this game, regardless of what Ada's role is going to be. If people get fed up with him then they can just stop Elantrianing him (which I assume is happening). We could even lynch him haha. Part of this game is the roles, yes. We can find eliminators by scanning people. But what if the Kandra dies, or if Alvron dies and the next person the Kandra contacts is evil? Or what if the Kandra is evil and just leading us all along? What if the mistborn shoot each other? (this would be rather funny) What if the eliminators have a roleblock and figure who the Kandra is, and then target them for the rest of the game? I haven't even been paying too much attention to Ada. I voted for the Kandra (because I felt scanning BB was a waste) and for the Mistborn (because I felt that inactive players should die), but I haven't been following his schemes too much. If we wanted to, some people could (probably) go to Alvron instead of Ada for advice, to decentralize stuff. Basically, this game is nowhere near as bad as LG Shard Catastrophe, which still was fun because I as an eliminator tried to get a group of villagers together to lynch Cultivation haha. I want to vote for Kipper since his vote is on a dead player, but yeah... On the topic of Dowanx's kill, it is possible that some of the eliminators are members of the Contribution Crusade, and decided to clean up a player that they couldn't really get a read on. It is interesting that Stink got a role. I doubt that BB would be trying to build trust since he was pretty close to dying anyways. I suspect that the eliminators were trying to get rid of a role from the forger pool so that it wouldn't come back to bite them later. They know what role Stink has and they (and now all of us) know when it will go away. I'm going to vote for Honey Badger. If she has been viewing the thread then there is no reason to not post.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
AG is anniversary game. Meta was busy and asked everyone in the dead doc to write riddles for Wilson's character to follow, eventually leading to a trap where she was killed. And then the rest of the doc turned into the Bloodthirsty Goddess.- 1686 replies

BB, I wasn't saying that you should reveal your role (If you were addressing me, I assume autocorrect struck again haha). I am saying that we don't have a reason to preserve you, really. So there isn't much point in scanning you. And none of what I said really reflects on my opinion of whether you are innocent or not. I think that a cleared (or guilty) Adavantos is more useful knowledge than a guilty or cleared BB.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I think that we are not really seeing what the scan should be used for. Having a Kandra is useful for clearing people without killing them. What is the point in scanning BB? He looks pretty darn suspicious, and he hasn't revealed having a particularly useful role to the thread. So we don't really stand to gain much from scanning him. We can just decide about him in the lynch next cycle, which looks like it is headed somewhat in his way anyway. On the other hand, scanning Adavantos, like Orlok mentioned, tells us if we are feeding all of our plans into an eliminator or not. If Ada is clear then we know that none of his plans had some ulterior motive. But until then, we just can't trust him. I am a a bit suspicious of all the people that want to scan BB, since we have a fairly strong opinion in the thread that he is an eliminator (or at least that is what I am picking up). This is Sanderson Elimination, for the Lord Ruler's sake! Kill the suspect and ask questions later! You can't win this game by scanning everyone right before you want to kill them, and that would take all the fun out of it besides. It is like a Day 1 lynch, and inactive players. We can't be squeamish when it comes to killing people. (Not to mention that by far the most fun I have had on this forum was being dead in the AG. Wilson in awesome to have in a doc with, and writing RP for her death was pretty great too.)- 1686 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Just some actions for now: Action 1: Who: Hadrian What: Declaring Fellise as a neutral party in the skaa rebellion. Any rebels that wish to have peace for themselves and their families can move to Fellise and they will not be held liable for any crimes they may have committed. Any skaa that come to Fellise that are found to continue serving the rebellion will be forced out of the city, unfortunately. Why: To reduce the number of skaa threatening the Final Empire in a non-violent way, and to increase the capacity of Fellise to expand. Where: Fellise When: Action 1 Action 2: Who: Hadrian What: Building and upgrading Housing in Fellise for the (hopefully) increasing skaa population Why: To increase the Order of Fellise, since there will be a lot more skaa coming in hopefully and they have to live somewhere Where: Fellise When: Second Action- 868 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I say go ahead. I would feel a little bad, but by this point with Honey being involved in two games it would probably be really hard to catch up in either one. And there is still the possibility of shotting an eliminator, and us learning a bit more about role distribution as well.- 1686 replies

Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So I just saw that you voted for me last cycle, Kas. The point of that post was to pull people off of bandwagoning on STINK, because he had 3 votes put on him really fast. I think I overstated what I was saying however, because at that point I was trying to convince myself not to vote on him. I personally don't like STINK's playstyle, and I didn't want that to come out too much in my post, but I ended up overstating the reverse. A more correct statement is that I appreciate the amount of conversation STINK has triggered, and that is how he has been contributing.- 1686 replies

I would say that it makes the game more fun, rather than easier to win. That being said, it does help if we know roughly how many active eliminators we are up against, and clearing out silent players is the only way to determine if an eliminator is among them.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@queensteph: The thing is, inactive players are a waste. In the Steelheart LG, team good lost the game because of an inactive (and because Wilson is crazy good at being evil). It didn't matter that we had an extra player sitting around at the end of the game. One eliminator can kill 5 inactive players without sweating. So we should get rid of them now for 2 reasons: The threat of being killed might get them to speak up, and one of them might be an eliminator. We can guess at the number of eliminators as around 20%, but until the inactives are gone we can't figure out how many people that are contributing to the game are actually on team evil.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I would like to request that all of our mistborn, unless they have solid suspicions, target the inactive players tonight. And by that I mean people that have posted none at all. There is not really a reason for having that sort of behavior and not explaining in the thread at all. It only takes a minute or two to post that you are busy IRL. I would like to clarify something with STINK, which will (most likely) decide whether I vote for him (which I am leaning against right now). STINK, you explained why you left your vote on BB. But why did you vote on him the first place? Or in other words, if you voted because you were afraid of feruchemists, why do you think that is an action that benefits the village? (This is me wanting to hear an opinion, not trying to be aggressive) Also, did you have any other reasons for placing that vote that you are willing to share? And who else were you suspicious of at that point? Something I would like to point out about the HI is that I don't think we need to worry about when it changes alignment. (except for massive info leaks) Because as long as we have a forger still alive, every time a hemalurgist dies we can forge a new one to check the HI's alignment. I mentioned this before, during day 1.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Kipper, this game is all about conspiracy theories haha. I think that your theory definitely has merit, although it does hinge a lot on the traitors having a surgebinder. Perhaps, before acting on your plan, we could ask all the village surgebinders to post a message during the next night. If we saw a number of messages other than one then we would pretty much know that there is a village surgebinder (unless zero came through). If only one message came through then we wouldn't learn anything new. On a slightly different note, my suspicion of STINK is just because of a vote he placed. He gave an explanation which I don't really like, since it is basically the same reason that I said I voted for him with (but this is kind of another playstyle conflict, I guess). But STINK has been a fairly active player in this game, and I feel like we should consider waiting to lynch him (if that is what we decide). Kipper, your theory has two easy ways to be checked out, and one of them is non-lethal. So my suggestion would be to hold off acting on your idea while we can check it more easily during the night without losing people that have been valuable contributors to the conversation.- 1686 replies
