Yeah, I haven't posted with him at all. In my head, he's just bumming around trying to find Taylor but not really interacting with anyone. If someone has any ideas for someone for him to bump into, I'd probably be more inclined to post with him. I'll review the Taylor scene and see if it makes sense for her to post next. If I recall correctly, I think she was being picked up by Deathwish. Also, Corvallis people, Iconoclast's post (great job by the way Blackhoof!) goes into nighttime, so we should probably be moving things along to keep up. I'll be posting with Rainmaker next, and probably heading from afternoon into late-afternoon/evening. Are there any objections to that?

He was next on Rainmaker's post list . I'm fine with doing things post by post and just discovery writing it if that's okay with you. Could y'all help me out figuring out what posts are due from me? I know I have a Rainmaker one to prepare. Should I do a Taylor or Brandon one as well?

This is a good point. I guess I'd just like to see more indication then that this is not normal. Like maybe he notices some Vanillas hesitating, and then the others being like "Come on, you want to live right?" or something like that. OR, keep it as is, with the understanding that the Vanillas pledged loyalty will only last until city officials come along to iron things out, and offer more permanent protection. See, Rainmaker would be very opposed to allowing any de-centralized form of power, so if any of these militias start forming, she'll be expelling or eliminating their leaders very quickly. The whole point of Corvallis is that the Queens control everything, and they wouldn't have lasted this long if the allowed such factions to develop. Portland is more the city with that sort of plot line. I'm fine with undercover or hidden factions, that outwardly pledge loyalty to the Queens and Corvallis, but secretly have other motives as they struggle for power and influence within the city, but the key here is that they are hidden and intrigue driven, and not outward showings of force. Corvallis was originally intended to be a slower moving, politics driven thread, and thus far from Chasmfiend, we've mostly seen a bunch of killing. I know Rainmaker is off in Rainmaker-land and is not ready to deal with the situation, but she also has powerful epics in enforcement. So I guess one option would be for Chasmfiend's next post to include being stopped by some powerful enforcement epics from Buttercup's brigade, ordering him to stop or face Rainmaker and the Queens' wrath. If Chasmfiend complies and goes back to his home, he'll probably get by with some sort of minor sanction (he is a high epic, after all). Then we can proceed to get him integrated. I'm assuming Rainmaker will want him in enforcement, since he's so powerful, depending on what Buttercup thinks of him, but if he's a loose cannon, they won't be putting him in enforcement. If he resists enforcement, then things will escalate quickly, and Rainmaker will be much less forgiving.

Hey All! So, good news, my trip to Oahu was fantastic, and I am back and ready to write again, AND my Dad's liver transplant was successful, so that's another monkey off my back. I'll still be busy getting ready for work in June, and doing some stuff for my parents, but I am definitely feeling like I am in a better head space for writing. Also, I did really well on my final paper, and will, in fact, be able to graduate, so thanks for giving me the time off I needed to deal with all that. I skimmed the posts, and didn't see any red flags for Comatose. I start wading through my PMs either later tonight, or tomorrow (I only got a few hours of sleep on the flight back because of crying babies, so I might not last long enough to get everything done). Though not regarding his "Property Changing" power, or whatever it is, I thought I expressed some concern when you first introduced him in Corvallis about the level of distraction and disruption he could cause. Corvallis has a decent population, but it's still Reckoners era, and Vanilla labour is kind of the key to utilizing Cornucopia's supply powers to their fullest extent, while also attracting useful epics to the city. Chasmfiend's wanton killing of a bunch of Vanillas probably won't go over to well, and if he keeps it up, Rainmaker's going to be expelling him from the city or trying to kill him as soon as she finds out. As is, he's already in trouble. Another issue is with the Vanilla's response. Corvallis is pretty organized, and while I haven't worked out specifics, the Vanillas course of action upon learning their master has died is not "pledge fealty to the first powerful epic you meet." it's, report to the government to be reassigned. The basic problem I'm seeing is that Corvallis is a place of tight control and strict world order, and Chasmfiend seems set on disrupting that. Others who have done that are Iconoclast (who is in hiding), Insight (also in hiding), Phoenix (killed and is now in hiding post resurrection), Converter (Killed and now resurrected outside the bubble), and Gunsmoke (trapped in air vortex above the city). Since Chasmfiend is not in hiding, unless he starts being more discreet, he is going to be in trouble, and that sort of trouble isn't going to help get him integrated into the plot of the RP. It's more likely to put him in a position where he doesn't have many options for story participation. I guess it comes down to what you intend for the character. If you want to have him act out, be put in his place by Rainmaker, and then behave, this will work (though the Vanillas' responses should still be changed), as long as that what you are expecting. If you want a fight scene with Rainmaker and other Corvallis loyals, this is what you will get too, but once that is done your character won't have much left to do (if he survives). If you want to integrate Chasmfiend into the RP, it might be good to dial back his recklessness a little bit. He sought out Corvallis for protection, so he's obviously just as driven by fear as other epics, and yet we are not seeing this in his conduct. If I was him, intent on throwing myself at Rainmaker's mercy in order to receive her protection, then I would be doing everything I could to follow the rules and get into Rainmaker's good graces. I would not be wantonly causing more chaos in the middle of an obvious crisis. Next steps: What is your plan for Chasmfiend? We should probably plan out where this is going if things are going to continue to get out of hand. Hope that helps! I blame any shortness on my lack of sleep, so apologies if that cam across as rude.

Quick mini-update: Craig and I are having a great time in Hawaii, AND my Dad had his transplant operation last night. It'll still be a long way to recovery, but it's stil a huge step. Thanks for all the good vibes. I'm hoping to be back online in a week or so!

So I'm leaving for Oahu tomorrow, and will not be bringing my laptop with me, so I thought I would check in one more time, since I will be completely (not just sort of) gone the next two weeks. I skimmed some of the posts, and will get to people when I return though. Thanks to Corvallis people for being patient! One clarification RE::Euphoria - I thought I posted about this either in her epic profile, or maybe in her initial post, but her identity is a secret from everyone except her inner circle. She's very paranoid, and worries way too much about assassination to be out in the open. So she blends in with other staffers in public, and often times even her fellow staff just thinks she's a higher up aide, and not one of the Queens herself. She often gifts her powers to her agents from behind the same screen she uses for the regular memory re-write appointments with the vanillas, or she drops powers from a distance in a public location. The important government epics would all know what she looks like, but most vanillas and epics would not. Hope that helps in the planning! Sorry again for my absence. I'm hoping to be back regularly when I return mid-May, but that will kind of depend on how things with my Dad are going. At the very least I should be able to check in irregularly.

Hey all. I need a (quick) brain-break from essay writing, so I thought I would pop in to say hello, and jot down a few things that have been bubbling around in my mind lately. Rainmaker and Euphoria have been getting impatient for some writing time it seems. I don't have time to write much right now, and might not be able to do it for quite a while, but I thought I would shoot some of the ideas out there so you folks can have some time to mull them over and let me know what you think. 1. First of all, I think I have a pretty good outline for Euphoria's plot-line for the next three days or so. I'd like to discuss it with some of the Corvallis players, so I'll put further details in spoiler tags for people who are just reading Corvallis and don't want things spoiled. This particular plot line could (but does not have to) involve Kenshin, Iconoclast, Jumpdrive, the Vanilla Rebellion, and maybe even other Vanillas like Summer, so I would suggest that Edge, 18th, Blackhoof, Twi, Mail-mi, and Mestiv check out the spoiler tag. Keep in mind all of you that you can say 'no' if you would prefer for your character not to be involved in this plot-line. Blaze, Winter, and Voidus could also jump in if they have any ideas for how the other Queens could be incorporated, but don't have to if they'd rather be surprised. 2. I think Rainmaker's next move will be to go deal with Thunderspear, do her evening address of the populace and new immigrants, and then meet with the Queens (in that order). While I'm gone, it would be great if the players controlling the other Queens could start moving them into a position where they could be available for said meeting in time. I'm really excited for this new plot-line, and would like to get the present day moving and wrapped up. Let me know if you have plotlines that require my characters to resolve, and I will make them a priority when I return. In the mean time, keep moving things along. For the time being, assume Rainmaker is busy being pampered or (later) seeing to some administrative work or tasks, while Skinsaver is handling the bulk of running the city. Euphoria is kidnapped and Insight is... . 3. I'm not sure if I've floated this out before, but Kobold, Voidus, and other Portland People, I was wondering what Backtrack's schedule is like for the next while, and how well known his powerset is within Oregon (would Jumpdrive know of it or be able to dig it up from a source?). Basically, I realized that his ability to see the past would be one of the few effective means of locating Euphoria and Insight, and since he's thread-hopped once already, I thought it might be fun if he took a detour to Corvallis and the request of an agent of Rainmaker. I didn't have a time frame in mind with this, so that's flexible, and we can explain by saying that Rainmaker didn't become aware of him until we are ready, but for now I thought I'd check if Backtrack (and MV?) would be able to detour to Corvallis, and if the players would be interested in this sort of plot line? Feel free to say 'no', but definitely let me know what you think. Anyways, I've probably been online longer than I should be, but hopefully this will help get some of my characters to stop nattering at me, and I can focus on finishing my essay. If you want to respond to this while I'm gone, just be sure to include my name (in red if you can) in the post so I can track them down the next time I visit and I have time to read/respond. I haven't really been following the question thread, so if someone has questions that need to be answered, PM me and I will do my best to address them in a timely manner. Thanks for reading! It feels good to do some writing, even if its just the brain-storming kind. PS: Is it Taylor's turn to post in the Dalles? I can't promise I'll be able to get anything up for a while, but if the muse hits it would be nice to know where to focus my attention. If I don't make it to post, feel free to proceed and assume that, for the time being, Taylor is going along with what Deathwish is doing. I hope that helps. Sorry again for not being very available, and thanks to y'all for understanding.

Hello Everyone, I've already spoken with the other staff about this, and with members of the Reckoners RP, but I figured it would be good to put something out here too, just so y'all know where I'm at and why I'm not going to be around much (not not I'm super prolific in the first place). I have a lot of life stuff going on right now, and it is demanding a lot of my time, and it looks like it will continue to do so. What this means is I that while I might check in from time to time, and I might even manage to post a time or two because sometimes writing is a helpful self-care for me, I'm not going to be responding to things as quickly as I would like. I expect this absence to last at least until the middle of May, and it might continue after that. We will see. For explanation, this is a quick run-down of what is on my plate for the next while: (1) My father is currently in the hospital due to some pretty serious issues with his liver. He was moved to another city to be close to the liver specialists, so I'm going to be spending a lot of time travelling and providing care for my family. I also have a few added errands and tasks that relate to this. (2) I am currently finishing the last paper of my law degree. It was supposed be due today, but because of the situation with my dad, I got an extension until the 28th. A virus ate my research, so I had to start from scratch yesterday. The paper needs to be 7500 words, so that is going to occupy the vast majority of my time for the next few days, and I really need to eliminate distractions wherever possible. That means no 17th Shard. (3) My husband Craig and I are FINALLY going on our honeymoon after a year of marriage, and we are leaving on April 29th. I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and with everything else that has been going on, I think I really need to focus on self care while I'm there. I might do some 'me' writing, but I will probably try not to be online too often. We will be returning May 13th. After May 13th, things are kind of up in the air. I will be starting a full time job at the beginning of June, so there is prep for that. I will also be making trips out to my parents farm to help out and keep my younger sister who still lives there company while they are gone, and also be visiting my Dad. Thanks to everyone for your understanding, and for your support for me and my family. Part of my reason for posting this, even though sharing personal details like this is uncomfortable for me, is because I've really appreciated seeing the care and support members of this community provide to each other. This community is really special to me, and I'm really glad I've been able to be a part of it. See you all later! I'll be back.

Writing prompt/character motivation brain bubble: No one chooses to be a villain. What if villainy happens when being an awful person just becomes better than the alternatives?
-
Hey all! Just an FYI, I have a 30 page paper (my last of law school) to write this week, and my Dad is in the hospital so I'm not going to have a lot of time for the Reckoners RP. I might still post here or there because writing helps me destress, but I probably won't keep up with the Question threads. PM me if something is urgent, but I can't promise I'll get back to you right away. Thanks in advance for your understanding!

That makes sense. Lucky for Arsenal though that Vondra stepped in and stopped him. If he had kept making new weapons, and a non-redirected projectile had hit Deathwish he would have been in trouble. Plus, y-know, there's the whole being corrupted and going kind of evil thing. On that note, I have to say Kobold, I've really enjoyed how you've been show-casing Arsenal's corruption over time. On the posting front, any thoughts about if me or Aonar should go next?

So, I'm guessing Emma was not intending this, but wouldn't Deathwish getting hit by a missile hurt Arsenal, not Quicksilver? I guess she doesn't necessarily need to have made that distinction, and she might not know Arsenal is behind the missiles. Or, I guess it is equally possible that Emma has it out for Arsenal. Should I do a Taylor post next, or wait for Frostfire?

Taylor gave a shy smile as Deathwish approached her, tilting her chin up towards him. Had she been in her true form, wearing her signature heels, she likely would have been taller than him, or at least his height, but she let herself enjoy being shorter, at least for the moment. There was something disconcerting about the way he felt entitled to touch her, both at the chin and at the waist, but Taylor found herself enjoying the attention nonetheless. It wasn't as if she was expecting Deathwish to be her prince charming, she just needed him for the moment. He could get away with a little disrespect. "I'm just about to bring all this pointless fighting to a close," he promised with a smile. "Why don't I fly you a little closer and give you a front-row seat? It's gonna be spectacular." Taylor used her powers to momentarily simulate tears, if only so she could blink them away at the right moment. "Oh... Okay?"

I think Kenshin is being kidnapped/recruited tonight (care to confirm Edge?), but Phoenix could as well. There's no reason Insight can't be busy today. On that note, I updated my Taylor post based on some clarifications form Mailliw. I think your Deathwish post still works, so no worries. I'll get a Taylor post together ASAP. Not sure I have any parties he can join at the moment. Based on the trouble he's causing, I'd assume he needs a visit from one of Buttercup's agents (since Buttercup is busy with Argon at the moment). Does anyone have suggestions for who can accost ThunderSpear?

Too bad she can't be Euphoria's biggest fan; they could be name twins (Euphoria's real name is Leila, pronounced LIE-lah, which is how I, at least, am pronouncing Lyla). For MBI, I've been doing a featured character, featured thread, featured group kind of thing. Feel free to steal any of those and apply them to Reckoners. Featured thread might not work as well since we don't have as many threads as MBI does, but you could definitely do a featured character and a featured alliance if you need something to write about.

Potential S6 Spoilers:

"Just leave her." Taylor wanted to shift and punish the impudent epic for ignoring her. Had she been able to assume her true form no one would have dared to ignore... "We've got better things to do. We'll--" Taylor relaxed as she felt Deathwish's gaze take in her form and features, taking temporary pleasure in his appreciation of her appearance. That was better. "Actually" Deathwish said, slicking back his hair, "We're heroes, Edgerunner. We can't just leave a damsel in distress behind, can we?" Judging by Deathwish's body language, Taylor guessed that Edgerunner was the female epic with that enviably thin waist. Edgerunner rolled her eyes in response--it would seem she did not care for Deathwish much. Taylor resisted the urge to slim down her figure further to one-up the pretty woman. It wouldn't do to undermine her disguise now. The third epic moved close to Edgerunner, adopting a protective posture as he whispered in her ear. He was rather attractive, and once again Taylor found herself growing jealous of the attention the two men paid to Edgerunner. Perhaps there was a song in there somewhere? Wanting to know what was happening, Taylor made some subtle alterations to her ears, hoping to improve them enough to let her hear what was being said. Unfortunately, the third epic stepped away from Edgerunner before the alterations were complete. In response, Edgerunner mumbled something as she turned to study Taylor. Had her ruse worked? What was going on? "Please," she said, the raw distress in her voice sounded grating to her enhanced hears. "I.. I don't know what to do." [OOC Note: Edgerunner's response was given to me by Mailliw. No god-modding occured here [EDIT: Made some small changes after consulting with Mailliw. Should be good now].

YES! Sorry! I spoke with Mailliw and I think I have someting figured out. I'll post with Taylor soon. On the subject of Trump, he announced his candidacy in June of 2015. Since the capitulation Act was passed some time that year, I'm assuming if it wasn't passed by then, people would have had a lot more to worry about than an election, and Trump might never have ran. Calamity, what have you robbed us of by not coming? Answer - Nighthound. IS Trump as a presidential candidate > Nighthound? A fair trade?

[Calamity Spoilers] Calamity's Consequences
Comatose replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Reckoners RPG
I was thinking Broadcast would be a suitable epic to get that motivator from, though in our canon we already have mobiles and he is still around. Who knows, maybe later in the RP Rainmaker trades him for some sweet epic tech, and Knighthawk uses him to upgrade the mobile network.- 210 replies

Sorry I'm late! Easter kind of took over a little bit. Anyways' here's my action: Action 3: (Public) Who: Lady Ellen Elariel What: Start investment company. Where: Luthadel and elsewhere. When: Gen 7, Turn 2, Action 3 Why: To create a new financial avenue. So basically, House Elariel is opening up an investment company. Loan Elariel your wealth, and we can negotiate an interest rate based on the amount of wealth you deposit, and then you can withdraw the wealth at your leisure. Factors such as amount of allowable withdrawals and or the frequency of withdrawals could be locked in to influence interest rate. I'm not sure if this will get off the ground, but PM me if it seems like something you might be interested in. It might be an opportunity for more interactive play. If people don't bite, I'll chat with Wyrm and see if I could cater to some NPC only Houses and just make it a standard wealth producing asset. EDIT: We can also provide loans to houses who need some extra wealth this turn, to be repayed with interest of course. If Wyrm rules that this action isn't valid because of it's lateness. I'll hide this and repost next turn

For the Dalles, is the Deathwish group just waiting on Emma's response currently? Mailliw, any idea when you'll have time? If you do not have time, another option could be just to provide Emma's outward responses here or in a PM, and then I can have Taylor react to them. EDIT: It doesn't seem like Mailliw has posted in the question lately, should I send him a PM? Mailliw, if you are still keeping up and reading this, feel free to chime in or send me a PM
