David Tennant for Dilaf from Elantris. Think of him as Barty Crouch Jr. It'd work perfectly.

Happy birthday TheShallan! In line with the earlier HP discussion... One of the things I like playing around with in my writing is how magic would both advance and stunt society, and I think I can see that in the Potterverse. They have floo powder and apparition, so why would they need things like cars and airplanes? They have instantaneous communication, so why send letters? They wouldn't need computers- in fact, they don't seem to use electricity at all. They don't go to elementary/primary school with muggle children. All of these lead to a very strong sense of isolation. Without the internet or school before age eleven, their experiences interacting with people and learning to play nice and be tolerant of others is extremely limited. Prejudice can live long and prosper in that kind of environment. Therefore, we get people like the Malfoys and the Blacks. Even the nicest witches and wizards seem to think of muggle society as primitive and almost laughable in its ignorance. While they're busy scoffing, the wizarding world is going nowhere.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Mistrunner replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH -
On a completely unrelated note, if I ever wrote an autobiography or had a biography written about me it would just be "She was supposed to be doing homework."

Agreed.

You Know You're a geek/nerd when...
Mistrunner replied to Allomancy's topic in Entertainment Discussion
When you reference something and start babbling about what it was you referenced as those around you back away slowly When you know Monday was the ISS's fifteenth birthday When the highlight of your life is getting the Sick shirt When you know all countries by name and can point to them on a map When you stay up well past midnight reading a book or an article about something NASA When you geek out to extreme levels when a new picture of Pluto or its moons is produced Need I go on? 0.o -
I didn't exactly dislike Well of Ascension, I just found the slower pace more difficult to read. ADHD here. I'm blaming all my problems on those four letters. I'm sure it'll be fine in the end and I won't have to see a psychiatrist at all. ...wait, what was I talking about?

I honestly found Well of Ascension to be almost boring. It wasn't as fast-paced as the first and didn't seem to be resolving anything. But it needs to be read. I'll start to make sense later and it'll get better. And then you can have Hero of Ages, which is amazing and filled with awesomeness and wonderfulness. And then you can have Alloy of Law, which has Wayne.

Will it help if I eat your corn for you? I'll do that.To quote Studio C (more specifically, Mallory in a dumpster): "Oh look, corn! All day corn. Corn for DAYS!" [/obscure reference] Also, after rereading Alloy of Law, I may say that Wayne is a five-star novel. All I remember from when I read it last was that I thought it wasn't as good as some of Sanderson's other books. I want to slap myself now. It's got Wayne! Wayne automatically makes it a five-star novel. Plus, lucky hat.

Oh yes. Ohhhhh yes.I remember one of the worst things about having braces was that I couldn't eat corn on the cob. I had to cut the corn off the cob and it it sadly while watching my siblings have way too much fun (on purpose I tell you) eating theirs. Please understand. My life consists of waiting for fall so I can have corn on the cob. I am a corn on the cob addict. Not having that joy... *shudders*

"Which can lead to awkwardness," Mistrunner says through a bookie. "Just ask Gollum. Awwwwkwerrrrrrrd." She wiggles her fingers in a vain attempt to imitate Maggie's vain attempt to make them look like tentacles.

Speaking of absolutely nothing anyone was talking about... Doctor Who watching with my mother is going better. She says he's calmed down a bit, but I think she's just gotten used to the fact that he ain't Barty Crouch anymore. And she likes Martha. She still says it's a silly show after watching Doomsday. Also, after rewatching The Lazarus Experiment, I will never call them hors d'oeuvres again. "Nibbles! I love nibbles!"

My train of thought is less of a train and more of the scribble creature from the Doctor Who episode Fear Her.

Choir today was fun. The director spent about ten minutes working with the guys so that they would lengthen their vowels on the last phrase. So we combined and sang it through and it was very nice for a few seconds, until someone... "Win-taaaaaaaahhhhhhh..." "TERRRRR!" I think our director almost started crying.

Quick question re: Stick shirt
Mistrunner replied to FireSlayer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I'll say probably. If it doesn't, then you have permission to complain. But you'll have a stick shirt, so...
