Yeah, that wasn't my guess as to what I think. I'm saying that If spren and gems were linked and stormlight were to be the connection between them, or the means by which their individual power was transferred, it could be that enough was collected or used in a certain way that a single spren gained enough power to be as huge as that massive, unexplainable waterspren. It doesn't have to be right. It just has to be possible. Read my signature.

Right, but it is something to consider. I'm also not sure how it works, but what is the possibility that you by extinguishing a fire, you increase the power of a firespren. That huge water spren could be explained that way. It's just interesting. I know, I know, there is no direct supporting evidence, but it's an idea that, with some detail, could explain an anomaly.

That's an interesting thought, Argent. Are we taking the stance then that there are spren in the fabrials and you can use or grow their power based on the fabrial you make?

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Bloodfalcon replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well if the Stone Shamans have the Honorblades, then give one to Szeth, he can still have "my lord's own Blade" and it lines up correctly.- 128 replies

RETRACTION: I don't think Brandon is above putting out a sort of alternate storyline that would make a video game work out really well. I've spent time thinking about it and it really would not be so far off from a sort of "Force Unleashed" / "Assassin's Creed" game if you based it on the right characters. I started a topic in the technology forum (or whatever it is called) talking about this. What I find really fun about these books is how creative the characters can be with their powers, so the system for casting those would have to be really well constructed to make it feel right. But doable, and that is what I would want in an ideal world.

Well, and if it is an intensely traumatic event - one that is almost physically unbearable - that causes someone to snap, Kaladin missed his chance anyway.

I'm probably going to be adding to mine, and they will probably differ from the topics many others us, but I'll post! The two Surge-charts were created by Honor and Cultivation and establish the magic system. The Order images on Cultivation's are images of spren. The Order images on Honor's are images of Honorblades. Szeth has an Honorblade. True Voidbrinders will have the inverse characteristics of the Heralds. Thunderclasts are OP haxx0rz

If Darkness is able to find Ym, a shoemaker, I'm sure Szeth has set off one or two alarms. However, Szeth is like the Black Pearl of Stormlight Archive - he leaves nobody alive to tell the tale! ....

This quote has actually been very very popular on here, you may just not be seeing it where you normally post. Sorry I'll see if I can find the threads for you, but you are on target with what most people assumed after reading.- 128 replies

I am still thinking about taking a copy just to inflate the numbers, but I already own it, so it hasn't been a priority.

Hahaha, half and half. There are morally corrupt people in the world that hold positions of power. A fallen Herald character could be warped enough (or Confident enough?) to think that the permissions received from such a high station are Just no matter what. There are plenty of motivations when you consider the subject might be a tad insane.
-
I thought that he was working alone (plus friends) under some sort of "Well, I failed in the big picture, but I'll keep doing maintenance to keep future Desolations from coming" mindset. Assuming it is Nalan, he'd be Just/Confident enough to operate under the law of the country he is in. He clearly could have killed Lift and not had too hard a time running away, but his nature as "Just" won't allow him to. Documents like his could be obtained easily if you had friends in high places, and who doesn't want to be friends with a dude holding a SHARDBLADE? Sign me up...

Parshendi voluntarily became Parshmen
Bloodfalcon replied to The Count's topic in Stormlight Archive
It still bothers me that there are so many of both types around, and it seems like nobody remembers where they came from. Don't you think it would have been important enough that they were fighting against Parsh-people? Or even fighting with Parshendi against Parshendi? Like, humans weren't wiped out, but this is one thing that is just completely lost. That is not to put down your theory, I like where your head is at, I just can't fit any of these solutions together because there is such a HUGE piece missing. Why are the Parshmen so forgotten? -
Right. That one is easy, but even still, I have seen others label the "Voidbinding" chart with different numbers, and considering the surges are all whacky and stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if the numbering system did not line up as well for some reason. Inverted in a way, like the surges and the maps and stuff. All that considered, I don't see a reason you wouldn't still number them 1-10 like that for now until there is actual evidence to mess with any of it.
-
I've seen several charts with different numbering systems, but I think the accepted way has been with 1 starting at the upper right, with the Windrunner symbol on the Honor chart, and working it's way clockwise. The middle two toward the center are at 5 and 10 if that helps.

That Dustbringer sword looks impossible to hold. In fact, it could be a really cool lookin staff if the handle wasn't so pointy Anyway, thanks for being so helpful, Aether.

and a new tenet!
-
Hahahahahahahahaha the game is just riddled with footnotes.
-
I think he is comparing the Recreance because the KR also discarded their Blades (and responsibilities) and in doing so, left extremely powerful weapons, given to them by [god/s] in the hands of random men. He was saying he doesn't think the Heralds would be so irresponsible, but clearly it is possible considering the KR also do it a few centuries later.
-
On that day they abandoned more responsibility than that of a powerful sword, I think. If the Heralds turn out to still be decent people, I think we will also find that they were responsible with the swords, but it's not looking like that will be the case to me.

I'm probably going to go pick up the new Assassin's Creed game in the next few days, and I can't help thinking that I would much rather have the main character be Szeth from Stormlight Archive. He's already got the white robes, the hood, the stealth, all of that. You could build a whole game around him, even without his Shardblade. A tiny mix of The Force Unleashed would put the icing on the cake, letting him use his Surgebinding abilities. In a perfect world it could even be a good/evil, two sided game, where you use basically the same mechanics to play Szeth on the dark side and Kaladin on the light side. Szeth runs around a select city or two, and Kaladin runs around the Shattered Plains and stuff. The Plains sound lame until you consider the crazy environment you could build in the chasms beneath them. It would probably need to be a sort of alternate story line sort of deal, one that was non-canon (I wish it wasn't the case), because by the time Kaladin realizes his powers, he is kind of caught up in some stuff. Maybe that will change a bit in WoR, but regardless, it would make a really really fun video game I think. Brandon - if these ideas ever reach your brilliant mind - I'd buy this game 5 times for good measure.

I'm awarding this post the very first "Bloodfalcon's Post of the Week Award" for two reasons: 1. I learned something very cool, and will probably go find this story and read it now. 2. Your apparent passion for this correction is incredibly endearing in its nerdiness.

Yeah, my crackpot theories aside, I think there are a few things in here that are a bit off, but it really does cover so much. I like the organization though. Thread hijacking?

Hahahaha nope, this is mostly right. I'm calling it now. More from my deluded mind: The spren symbol at our 5 position is Wyndle. 4 is Ym's spren. 7 is Syl. When we have more information, someone is going to flip the axis of that chart enough times that the surges are all fixed and the spren are in the right positions. I think this will indicate the transition spren make from the cognitive to the physical realms. Something of that sort. Those lines are connections like if you were holding this like an object connected by strings, I imagine, and there are some things that should remain where they are and some things that should rotate. I'd like to challenge someone to fix that up somehow, but i'm not sure what the method would be, and again, we are missing a lot of spren to make it fit. EDIT: Eh, also very possible 2 is supposed to be Syl, which makes it a more minor change. Things will get flipped though.
