  1. Without Samuel L. Jacksons powers of getting stronger by screaming profanities, Limelight would never survive snakes on a plane.
  2. I've always wanted to know what Hoid is up to with that bead. If it is true that an alloy of lerasium and whatever metal can make a person a misting, how much lerasium is required? A certain percentage of the metal? What about weight? would .1g of lerasium give the same potency as .5g or 1g of lerasium in a mistling? How much lerasium exactly is 1 bead? How much does it weigh? (anybody ever ask Brandon that?)
  3. Yeah I like how Brent Weeks characters sometimes just make horrible choices in spectacularly bad fashion because that's our human flaw sometimes. And he certainly does like making them pay for their mistakes. And the card game in Lightbringer series is awesome. Since I'm a big MTG fan and I can see a bit of influence from that in his game, I appreciate it wholeheartedly.
  4. I think it's safe to assume most of Roshars ecology is based of oxygen. Or at least I hope so. But I would love to read some Biological Chemist jargon.... I'd say let the Scientific analysis of the Cosmere begin!
  5. 1)I hope we can start calling him Mr. T here, like in that other thread. Cause it's just too funny. 2)Mr. T orders Szeth to kill as many as he can in order to sow as much chaos as possible. This is what Mr. T needs. Not just an assassin, a a ruthless force of nature that terrifies people. Assassins have been a threat forever. This new thing though, this unnatural beast that slaughters in white, that's a very powerful unifying tool. The man seen to beat someone/something like that after it has wiped out all other competition... well let's just say Mr. T might just be handed the crown. 3)Whether Mr T. believes Dalinar to be the Blackthorn or the new honorable man he is now, he's still competition. You can't have two people 'Unite Them'. Mr T is already committed to his goal and he's been working at this for a while. His bet is 'all-in' at this point. No half-assing it or hesitating. He MUST be the only person to unite the land, knowing what only he knows. At least that's what I've been assuming Mr T's line of logic has been.
  6. Game over. We've revealed Sanderson's ultimate secret message.
  7. I definitely feel for Taravangian. After reading the WoR interlude I understood him a lot more. Hope to see a bit more of him in the future.
  8. I was gonna say what Kurk said, does sound a bit like Lightbringer Series. But different enough especially considering not being aware of it. Definitely worth a read though. Is pretty interesting. The magical system was a bit like the one I was working on at the time when I stumbled across it too. Guess Light is a popular magic source nowadays.
  9. I don't think there's any sort of super magical influences going on for Skyeels. Yeah, they're a result of a magical world but I don't think they use any sort of magic themselves to fly. Sounds like it's all pretty straight forward on how they move and fly. Sanderson has had a surprising amount of insight into the unique ecosystem of Roshar. He has followed a lot of natural Biological rules with appropriate tweaks from magical influence. I'm actually surprised I've never seen too much discussion of this article on this board... http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/07/the-ecology-of-roshar-continued-quest-for-blood (I don't know how to do the cool link edit into text thing. Been a while since I've used anything other than 'spoiler' tags)
  10. I think it's safe to say the OP really doesn't like the Eragon books, Twilight, or that 50 Shades Nonsense. I agree, I don't like them either. But for Eragon, I think the major selling point of that book is the fact the author was fairly young when he wrote it (around 16? I believe, not 100%) even if it was mostly just copied, cliche fantasy. I think it mostly just gets chalked up to personal preferences, really. More people seem to be into cheap, shallow rip-off novels that don't have much depth or plot complexity or consistency. And so that's what gets marketed more successfully. It's a shame that epic, awesome fantasies are mostly ignored nowadays, but I'm sure we all know dozens of people (if not more) that will refuse to touch a book if it's over 200 pages. It's almost as if they're scared to challenge themselves to a read a real book.
  11. I upvoted. Mwahahaha! Although Zuchinni is a legendarily bad ranking. Truly worthy of -100+ rep.
  12. Dang. Thats better than anything I could have come up with. Because I was trying to keep in mind keeping the metals somewhat related by mirroring eachother with a proper alloy. But as I said. This idea is better than anything I'd of thought of, lol.
  13. While I know it's not, just think, what if Uranium was an allomantic metal? What kind of crazy power would it have? What would it's alloy be? I'll have to think about possible cool ideas and come back later and post them. But let's hear your ideas!
  14. Eh, screw it. I'm in. From what I can gather, seems like this Peter fellow does quite a bit to help things rolling. How long do we keep the names/new avatars? I prob wont change the avatar just to help prevent more confusion, but I'll go for a name change.
  15. I kinda figured Alloy of Law would've been a trilogy. But I thought that was the "2nd" of the three trilogies. But that's cool. I'd rather get more Scadrial story overall. No need to overload Way & Wayne for 7+more books than they really need. Their three books will be perfect for their stories. Anything else would be overkill.
  16. Oooh. A more macabre exhibit for some *ahem* 'more thrill-seeking' patrons. Set up a Gold Compounder to sit there and let people "murder" them - for a very hefty fee, course. Set up a circular platform people can stand on with railings to prevent them from falling off. Have it set up above where stationed Coinshots are sitting. Maybe Steel Twinborn so they can also anchor themselves. Put have them flare their Steel, shooting the platform people are standing on into the air, and then let them fall back towards the earth, slowing them to a *somewhat* soft landing at last possible moment. Zinc ferrring footraces. Have a ref inside a cadmium bubble at the finish line to get see the split-frame win shot. These ideas all sound fun.
  17. Hm. A new question to ask Brandon? Does Feruchemical gold heal the body regularly, or does it restore sDNA as well?
  18. could probably figure out some sort of crazy trapeze, hanging wire and moving platform contraption with a couple of Steel Twinborns. Maybe a Lurcher or two as well. Have a highly skilled Seeker host a "Let me guess what metal youre burning" game. Rig up some paintballs that have a tiny piece of padded metal as a base somehow or something, and let Coinshots play padded in a Paintball like arena. Set up a area for a Cadmium bubble for a viewing area of spectacular displays. Watch them unfold at high-speed camera detail frame by frame!
  19. Worldhopper! Watch out, Hoid! I'm coming after you!

  20. yeah.... didn't stay as committed as I said I would. But I did do tons more writing than I normally do and that's what it was all about for me. I managed roughly ~8000 words. Not total. Just written in general, covering multiple possible stories and random scenes and notes. I know I shouldn't add all that up to one sum... but eh. Whatever. Close enough. I do actually have some story planned and some plot outlines, which this is the most I've ever gotten done. So I'm counting it a victory.
  21. I'm not artistically inclined at all, I can't draw worth crap. So for my map making Ive been using Campaign Cartographers 3. im still pretty new to it, and it seems pretty basic overall. I dont even think it has technical elevation mapping. But mapping mountains always is hard for me. Trying to make a 'natural' looking mountain chain, trying to take actual geographical facts into account and whatnot (plate tectonics, etc.). And then mapping rivers that flow from mountains and lakes and stuff. I always take too much time trying to create that 'perfect' detail. Doesnt usually work.
  22. I was wondering, with Gold Compounding (or even regular Gold I suppose) would one be able to heal the effects of Radiation Poisoning? Testing out some new potentially dangerous materials? No problem. Heal with some gold. Manhattan Project? Spend a few days in bed beforehand storing health, good to go. Uh oh. Reactor Meltdown and Radiation is leaking? Good thing you have your trusty gold metalminds... I don't see why you wouldn't be able to heal the radiation sickness, or just constantly burn gold to combat the effects during exposure? Could offer a lot more potential work for Nuclear powered energy in the Mistborn world. Although I imagine they went with a different technology route.
  23. Shard of Music. You get the idea.
  24. Besides the obvious experiment with all metals to figure out all allomantic combinations, I would at the same time be spending years secluded by myself out somewhere, training myself, honing my skills, and making a crap ton of metal minds. Then I would re-emerge and just go around doing probably whatever the heck I wanted. Some days chaos. Some days saving people, doing good stuff. Always gotta keep 'em guessing.
  25. Oooh. My bad. Although, thinking about it, I don't really think there's too much 'spoiler' info in my post, anyway. I mean, its basically been built-up the whole series that Rand and the DO have to have their showdown, that's been known forever. And since you know the Access Key is destroyed, what does it leave Rand with to fight him with? The prophecy-ridden, magical Sword Rand has been leaving laying around might work. Sorry if I did potentially ruin anything though. Here's hoping to not though.
