Looks like this one per the stores website will be a ticketed line numbers, requiring a book purchase from B&N for line priority. Seating for the talk and Q&A is limited and first-come, first served (no saving seats). However, our open design offers plenty of standing room with great sight lines. Special Instructions Free numbered tickets to establish signing line priority will be distributed starting March 4 (release day) to customers with a copy of WORDS OF RADIANCE and a receipt from Barnes and Noble or bn.com. Tickets must be acquired in person at our store. One ticket will be given per person. One person may join the line per ticket. Attendees who wish to get a Brandon Sanderson book signed but do not have a receipt or ticket will be admitted to the queue after the ticketed customers. The author will sign any book that he has written or co-written, however he may need to limit personalizations to 3 per customer per trip through the line (that is, you may go re-enter the line a after every attendee has been through at least once). ( I am still debating between the Skokie and Milwaukee signings )

(Some) Spren Not Liking Shardblades
FollowYourMuse replied to treblkickd's topic in Stormlight Archive
I theorize that it is the combination first the betrayal broke the bond with the spren. (killing or making them forget who they were) And then the plates and blades became tainted/corrupted by their use. I tend to think it is not Honor Spren that were trapped in the plates and blades, but more of an agreement ... like working with Syl the gravity spren hold the rock to the wall for Kaladin, so maybe other spren were trapped, who have no choice now and are used without that agreement. Like when Syl says in Wor Chapter 9 - Walking the Grave -
Interaction with the Cognitive Realm
FollowYourMuse replied to Sirscott13's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like this line of thought, I agree that Rock and perhaps the Horneaters in general are "closer" to the Cognitive realm. I think we can pick up clues all over that the further the different cultures are from Alethi and Vorinism they seem to have a closer connection to the spiritual or cognitive realms. Or at least a different lie or misunderstanding of it -
Rosharan Genetics, We're talking hair.
FollowYourMuse replied to The Rooster's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes I thought of that, when I threw in Calico's. I was more looking at the patterning genes in general. Horse coloration fits in some ways too, but I do not see any correlations for percentages in real world earth terms.- 22 replies

Is Syl really the only honorspren on Roshar?
FollowYourMuse replied to Chlehrma's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Syl may be the only Honor spren to have recently left Shadesmar but that does not mean that there are not "lost" honor spren that have been in the physical world from before. When the Radiants broke their bonds and gave up their plate and blades, their spren were "lost" they forgot who and what they were, until they make a new bond they are just mixed in with the other spren. -
Rosharan Genetics, We're talking hair.
FollowYourMuse replied to The Rooster's topic in Stormlight Archive
My guess is that genetically The Alethi hair genes are more similar to the genetics of patterning genes and dilution genes that affect horses, or Calico Cats, than how human hair genes work. Some of the patterning genetics would also work with the Parshmen/Parshendi Mottled skin.- 22 replies

Moogle, I like the idea of it being Szeth - I have thought in the past that Szeth's Oath and Stone Shamanism is some warped belief of becoming a Herald, or at least joining the Heralds in Damnation. Now that we have an idea about his sword I am more inclined to believe this.

For those who are not getting the glimpses: The discussion posts on the Glimpses thread on Tor have had others mention they have not been getting the glimpses.

That was my first thought, Dalinar has seen "a wall of Storm approaching" before in visions, my guess is his first glimpse of it would bring up a comment or memory of it. Unless this is an interlude with some surgeon, or Lirin. I think this is a Highstorm, but maybe this time with the Parshendi Stormform ... or the start of the Everstorm/ Desolations? EDIT: It occurred to me that the Glimpse 2 and 3 could be read together also: "She felt and heard the storm approach. The ground shook, the air roared. Bits of leaves swept across her in a chill gust, like scouts before an oncoming army that charged behind, the howling wind its battle cry." In places, it flashed with light from behind, revealing movement and shadows within. Like the skeleton of a hand when light illuminated the flesh, there was something inside that wall of destruction.

With the bright stormlight gems though this does not seem odd... The spren, Fabrials and storrmlight have changed much of the expected medieval world. Reminds me of being a kid holding your hand over a bright flashlight to see the bones, I can see Lirin using this as a way to teach Kal about skeletons....

My first thought is that this is Eshonai, It could be Shallan - After she has arrived and been at the Shattered plains, but I tend to agree that she would not use the scouts simile, even if after spending time on the plains, where she may have picked up terms like battle cry ... And we can not rule out the Shattered Plains because of leaves. Syl routinely mimics windblown leaves. "As Kaladin worked, a flurry of small white leaves blew under the wagon and formed into Syl’s figure." Chapter 6 (Kaladin): ""No,” she said, smacking the slave she’d been regarding as he shied away from her. “One and a quarter. They can help cut timber for us in the northern forests….” "The lighteyed woman assigned most of the slaves to forest duty." Chapter 15 (Dalinar) "You told him you were increasing what you charge him for wood?” Sadeas controlled the only large forest in the region. “Doubling it,” Sadeas said. Chapter 18 (Dalinar) "The grey sky grew clotted with dust and leaves blown ahead of the stormwall and the air grew dense with humid anticipation." [EDIT] Chapter 13 (Kaladin) The trees Sadeas harvested were concentrated in a forest to the north of the warcamps, but a few strays grew on this plain."

Should I buy the hard cover or ebook of WoR?
FollowYourMuse replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I guess I am obsessive, I will be blowing my book budget for the next several months... Hardcover that I will but at my local store, ebook so I get it at midnight, and I will get the audible version for my re-read during commuting, since I assume I will read it the first time too fast to absorb everything. -
I am not sure that this message is in glyphs. Since glyphs are words with the first one we get Sixty-two days, the glyphs read. Death follows. (or Broken Follows) compared with "Thirty-eight days," Renarin read. "The end of all nations." If this were glyph words I would expect "Thirty-eight days," Renarin read. "All Nations End" or just "Nations End"

I agree there are other ways this could have been done, T is creating chaos, in order to be the last one standing. I do not think he has put together the Parshman/Parshendi link to voidbringers ... if he did then why is Karbranth and the Palanaeum still full of Parshman?

We Need to Check Tor Next Tuesday 02/04/2014
FollowYourMuse replied to kobain's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am excited for more to help the weeks pass, but it really was not nice of Tor to tease us for a week and then not have anything but an announcement, and another weeks wait. -

The KR Orders Table and Bonding Spren
FollowYourMuse replied to marianmi's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am confused as to how this is proof that all Heralds are Honor's, I do not disagree that it is probable. The addition of the word my leads me to think he is referring to the Heralds that are his, this does not necessarily mean that all Heralds are his. If he were speaking of all the Heralds then it could have been The Heralds. -
I like this one, only instead of her door they float off on the Santhid

Excerpt from Words of Radiance: Chapters Six, Eight, and Nine
FollowYourMuse replied to kobain's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thank you for the reminder... It has been a while since I read TWoK (waiting until the week before WoR is released) and I was not thinking through the differences, only that there were ways that the Blade could be recalled. -

With the explanation of how a true Shardblade loan works. That the true owner can re-summon the Blade to themselves at will. This finally explains Szeths Shardeblade and how the Stone Shamans can retrieve the blade if Szeth dies.
