  1. Actually there are at least two mentions in between those: Chapter 8: Chapter 39:
  2. Well, Dalinar saw two hundred Shardbearers in his vision, and that was only a fraction of the total. At the "present" time, though, less than 100 Shardblades are accounted for. I guess we know where the rest went now.
  3. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. If I have to choose one of the books, I'll go with the first, A Game of Thrones, since it was the one that hooked me on the series. Honorable mention to The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet at all.
  4. Cool! Chapter 51, "Sas Nahn", should be listed as a flashback.
  5. I first heard of Brandon in 2010, in the context of the Wheel of Time. Though I had not read The Wheel of Time, I heard some good things about The Gathering Storm, which impressed me since I thought fans would be biased against a new author. Then I saw The Way of Kings in the bookstore and decided to buy it.
  6. The post in "I would like to announce" indicates that Adonalsium is at 1024 posts, as I suspected. Hero of Ages is then almost certainly at 256.
  7. Aha, found it. And the last three have been reached now, so I have a decent guess at the numbers for them.
  8. I for one am interested.
  9. The question has been asked. From here:
  10. I don't think the Frostlands contain the Unclaimed Hills; it's just that neither is an actual nation with well-defined borders, so it's just a question of where it becomes more hilly than frosty. I assume both are rather sparsely populated. Perhaps there were more people when it was Natanatan -- I wonder why it fell.
  11. Question: What happened to the other Mistborn besides Vin after the Lord Ruler was killed? It seemed like Mistborn were much rarer in the second and especially third books.
  12. Elantris and TES don't have Ars Arcanums, suggesting whoever's writing it might not have started yet then. So if Warbreaker happens withing 400 Nalthian years of Mistborn, Vasher's research would predate all the Ars Arcanums. On the other hand, we have to remember that the people on each planet are all speaking different languages, none of which are English. We can't really infer anything with any certainty from their particular word choice.
  13. Indeed: Rock is tall and has red hair; logically, he must be descended from the servants of ancient magic users. I wonder if the placement of Valath, the location of the Holy Enclave (perhaps the center of Vorinism?), next to the Peaks is related.
  14. Dalinar says he is "giving [Kaladin] the same authority as a lighteyes of fourth dahn", which I take to be different from promoting him to an equivalent rank. I also think that Kaladin's request that he take orders only from Dalinar, his sons and the king -- which Dalinar calls "a little... irregular" -- is what Dalinar is talking about here.
  15. Writing. I have a habit of skipping essays. Also, conversation.
  16. Mine was originally a name shared by my brother and me on Lego.com. It has no meaning; it's a nonsense word with a bunch of Zs. I first used it for myself when I played Runescape, and since then I've only gotten worse at coming up with usernames, so I'm stuck with it.
  17. Here are the webcomics that I'm currently following: xkcd Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal Order of the Stick Homestuck Kagerou HERO Lackadaisy Ava's Demon
  18. Looking at the map, I noticed something odd. On the sides of the map are alternating dark and light sections, with each pair seeming to represent one degree (or whatever unit the Rosharans use). But if this is the case, then there are only 9.5 degrees between latitudes 30 and 40, and 7.5 between 0 and each of 10 N and 10S. Is this an error, or is there some reason for it, I wonder? (I'll admit, I'm having trouble coming up with a good explanation.)
  19. Probably Bluefingers, although it didn't hit me all at once. It took a long time for me to process.
