  1. Read the Letter from WoK. He's using it Feruchemicaly. I don't have a clue how though.
  2. I would disagree with that. Excellent, I got kaymyth to defend Steris, and now I'm defending Wayne. Wayne is not depressed, or constantly being funny to cover up for his insecurities. Wayne is ... well, Wayne. Personality wise, he doesn't really take things seriously, and wants to help people, but unfortunately has no idea how to. Or, his version of helping them is radically different from what they want. You're making him sound like a good version of the Joker
  3. Storyline is a lot more clear in WotL, but grinding is still (mostly) pointless, unless you're packing orators, or thieves. War of the Lions still has one of my favorite FF characters, such as Ramza Beovolve, Agrias Oaks, Cidolfus Orlandeau, and Balthier. Oh, and Luso from A2 shows up. and Cloud who is horrible and broken at the same time.
  4. WoB on this: "Think of Lerasium as a metal anyone can burn. Does that make sense?" Essentially, making a Mistborn is the secondary effect of Lerasium that any Scandrian can get, due to their spiritweb, much like any Scandrian can get spiked. I had a theory a while back (year or two, maybe? Check my started thread if you want to see it.) about the real effect of Lerasium.
  5. Did you play Tactics, or the remake of Tactics War of the Lions? War of the Lions is much better. ...And, yeah, there's grinding that can sometimes take a couple hours in between story missions. Unless, you use certain set-ups.
  6. Hoshido's Radiant Dawn, then. I assume Corrin is OP'ed to game breaker point. He's a playable character. They're all OP'ed to game breaker point.
  7. I had to wiki that. I knew the mechanics of "True hit", but I didn't know the name. That's horrible. Absolutely horrible. I can see why you'd want to go on the defensive. Knight up! (How many playable knights are there? One probably, knowing FE.) For those trying to follow this exchange: True Hit is using the average of 2 random numbers rather than one. This skews the distribution to the middle, meaning that high hit rates hit more than they should, and low hit rates hit less than they should. Also peg knight is pegasus knight
  8. The road to fun places is paved with good intentions. I do not deny that Wayne thought he was doing the right thing, but he definitely was not doing the "right thing". If you want, though, we can have a discussion on whether or nor it is. In a sense, that does make Wayne worse. The first step to overcoming a problem is admitting you have it. Wayne is never going to actually mature, because he believes that what he does is the right thing. Now, sometimes it is. Sometimes Wayne does do the right thing. However sometimes what he believes is the right thing involves crashing water towers, bribing his way to an orphan he made who hates him, scaring bargemen to get a free ride, theft of all manner petty or otherwise, and stalking a woman who doesn't want him for fifteen years.
  9. Endowment: 10 Honor: 12 Cultivation: 6 Autonomy: 5 Devotion: 8 Adonalsium: 11 For KANE!
  10. I'm all mages, myrms, and peg knights (glass cannon. Except peg knights, which are just glass). Hit 'em fast, hit 'em hard. I'm quite horrible at defense chapters, because I always go on the offensive, which doesn't work because sometimes you are not supposed to be able to. About FF ... if you haven't played a tactics game, do it. The learning curve is bad if you've never played any other FF game, and the battle turn system will drive you nuts until you learn how to exploit it, but all in all, they're pretty good games. War of the Lions is the best, than Tactics A2, then Tactics Advance. Also, prepare for heavily rigged RNG. It's worse than Fire Emblem, if such a thing is possible.
  11. (Ignoring Voidus, who is probably not Kaymyth, and certainly not aeromancer) @Delightful: For having a reference to the Maccabeats in the signature. EDIT: Yes, I know the Maccabeats. And, more importantly the Maccabees. The actual ones. Comes with being a war history nut, I guess.
  12. The enemy of my enemy is the enemy of my enemy. Nothing more. Nothing less. -Shlock Mercenary. Unless something drastically changes, probably not.
  13. For founding a church of said (I can't bring myself to type it, sorry) But, more importantly, not getting upset at said thread
  14. Someone who supports some of my more inane theories.
  15. @Blaze1616: Hello Blazer, I'm going to assume that's you. I actually finished TLP not to long ago, massive kudos for that. Currently, I've been looking at Valkyria Chronicles. I'm not going to be playing FE Fates, a real pity because they fixed the completely broken pair-up mechanic from Awakening, and I've played most games in the series (recently beat FE12 for the first time.) Pair-up is so broken that Lunatic difficulty essentially cheats to maintain it's edge. I've just begun Final Fantasy XII. (shudder) Grinding. Every time I start a Final Fantasy game, I get reminded of what I didn't like about it. Everything else is fine, but I hate grinding games. (*cough* FF Tactics *cough*). Meh, it's a FF, it'll be worth it.
  16. Brandon Sanderson, out of loving care to people who buy his books, makes them too thick to fit through the return slot when they accidentally include them in their library stack. True story. Almost lost my copy of WoR.
  17. For starters, Kaymyth, thank you very much for your timely, insightful comments. I thank you for not participating so far. I would like to point out two things: 1) Steris has not been confirmed to have autism. I am (somewhat) knowledgeable on the subject, and it seems to be that she is obsessive-compulsive. 2) About 'ill' as a word choice ... to quote the ancient Mokian proverb "Don't make assumptions". Like Kythis said, 'ill' could mean something different in this context. I will say that 'applying therapy' on Steris is not good. Yes, Steris is not 'normal' but that's not 'wrong.' Wayne ... I wouldn't recommend him for therapy either. For the therapists' sake. #harleenquinzel
  18. Hum. When I say insane I am not referring to characters who do not behave regularly in relation to people around them. (Every character in every fantasy book, ever.) I suppose I not am referring to any major psychological disorder either, but if I was, I'd take a guess at ... fixation on Wax as a "wild west sheriff" and willing to do anything to return Wax to that role. Insane means characters who severely do not behave regularly in relation to people around them. Rand al'Thor during parts of WoT, for example. Zane, while Ruin does claim he's sane, is definitely is insane as well. Normal people do not attempt to kill their psuedo-girlfriend after they get dumped. At least Wayne didn't do that. See? I can say positive things about him!
  19. @ Chaos + Meg : Actually, I was using "Freedom of Speech" in a different sense. I wasn't justifying my topic using it, I was agreeing that (as this is a public forum with great Admins) people have a right to post their mind on my thread. This actually can be linked back to my discussion of Wayne. Is Wayne doing anything wrong? [Legally, yes but we're going to ignore that.] Wayne doesn't think he's doing something wrong. He's just trying to help people. Like what kacman07 said: At the same time though, the results of his actions are not what everyone him wants, or really no one. Wayne's closest friend is Wax. This has been discussed. His second closest friend is Ranette (maybe?), who he essentially stalks for fifteen years. He absolutely cares about Ranette, he's just very shortsighted. That's probably why he hates Steris so much because Steris is crazy prepared for anything. The fight between them can be summed up as "Who's better at taking care of Wax?" So yes, just because you have the ability to do something doesn't mean you should do it. EDIT: Insanity is never an excuse. Mistborn Era 2 has psychologists who can alter your emotions. They can help. Not that I'm saying Wayne is insane, because I don't want to get even more flak then I already did.
  20. Yes that is correct. I started a thread saying "Let's discuss Wayne a a character, I don't like him. Please, disagree with me. In fact, post a comment not even saying something positive about him, just your personal preference about whether or not you are willing to be an 'echo-chamber'." I am aware there is this wondrous technology called internet. You know this because I'm posting a reply. I know there is also this thing called "Freedom of Speech." You know this because I'm posting a reply. However, one may think that upon seeing the many, many, many threads and post discussing the (in my humble opinion, so-called) brilliance of Wayne, that the aeromancer could start up just one thread, asking like-minded people to join him for a civil discussion about why precisely they don't like him as a character. I did not say he wasn't written well, he's written brilliantly. I did call him one-dimensional, but after some posts that partially agreed with me and made valid points on his character, I am willing to retract that. I understand now, thanks to you, lDanielHolm that such behavior is frowned upon, and is fact is wrong. I offer you my sincere apologies, and will, in fact, upvote you after I post this. Thank you so much.
  21. Nightblood gets his powers because he is not a stick I remember hearing WoB that Nightblood's design was based of a Shardblade (or perhaps an Honorblade?). If that is true, than Nightblood is more than merely sentient awakened object (SAO), he is a SAO specifically designed for combat. I would equate it to a hammer. Try taking a hammer of steel, and use it to destroy stuff. It works. Now, make the hammer out of plutonium, and fire unstable nuclei at it using a particle collider. I would think something along those lines explains Nightblood's unrivaled powers of Thermodynamic violation. (Energy cannot be destroyed or created.)
  22. I was discussing Steelheart with a friend, and he asked me why Newcago wasn't completely and utterly rusted. I thought for, maybe a third of a second, and replied "It's MAGIC steel which doesn't rust." Is there an actual explanation for this, or what?
  23. Characters I'm fine with, usually I develop them alongside powers / situations. Create a set of powers and ask yourself "Who should have these?" Pick a situation, and ask yourself "Who do I want to solve this, and why?" Names ... it takes me a long time to pick a proper name. Usually, my characters end up picking it for themselves because I take such a long time.
  24. Stop posting if you like Wayne, please. This topic is not for you! I know I'm in the minority, I just don't like the man, and want to stop feeling alon in my not liking of him!
  25. @warriormarrk - Yes, I've read it, that's why I'm tired of him. @the rest: You have the rest of the 17th shard to like Wayne as a character. This just my little haven of anti-Wayne.
