  1. Btw, Brandon has gone back on the one dragon shard WoB recently, so it could still be koravellium as cultivation
  2. You have forgotten. Brandon Sanderson doesn't write time travel into the cosmere because he thinks it's too realistic. No every-day occurrence for him deserves Cosmere recognition.
  3. Hey guys, I'm back (almost). Sorry I've been gone so long. Over Christmas break I:

    --Had the flu REEEEALLY bad

    --had a mental health crisis

--had six day-long Quizbowl meets over the course of eleven days, each with a 2+ hour drive attached

and had band practice every day of that.

going forward i'm gonna be less active, only on like 2-3 times a day(this is meant to say WEEK), instead of multiple times a day.

and holy crap that's so many notifications.

      You be fine now, ok?

      *hugs*

  4. She was made from the pure investiture of splintered virtuosity, as were all of the nightmares/yumi's-side characters. literally her profession is defined as girl of commanding primal spirits how is that not miracles she makes little balls of light into magic super fabrials how is that less impressive than turning water into wine?
  5. Awesome! read chapters up through #6 and i'm loving the characters you might also consider posting it over on critiquecircle.com if you want critique on some longer work. If you do, be sure to tell me, so I can see it (or Scribophile)
  6. When Hoid tells the story and when it happens are very different. we already know that it is told after the other SPs, as that is how sanderson is releasing them:in the order hoid tells them. your quote of modern medicine, i believe, only tells that this is told late in the cosmere, and not necesarily that it happens late in the cosmere.
  7. Dustbringers: probably the most supportive. they like great power to have a great will behind it. TLR has very great willpower, and is consolidating most of the power behind that will. They object to only destruction, and want creation to go alongside it. This aligns with TLR hating ruin. However they aggresively don't like civilian casualties, and Skaa die a lot on accident in TLR's empire, so they might advocate for better conditions.
  8. Yeah, I didn't think so either, but didn't want to talk for you without knowing for sure. Btw, I wasn't trying to avoid bad feelings cuz I thought I offended OP, I was about to go off on a rant about how they can't accept criticism gracefully, but chose peace instead and tried to help him avoid similar situations in the future, and they just brushed me off, which kinda PMOed, but whatever. *sigh*
  9. Oh shoot I did not realize you posted more. Do you still want critique? If so, i'll edit my original post so it's all in one place.
  10. Dude's 50 now.
  11. Connection is still pretty hard to pin down exactly. I think that would work, but probably not to the extent that would make a big difference. you can check out some stuff about connection here and here.
  12. 2522. help fix the numbers 2523. punch people for making me yawn now what is wrong with you.
  13. Wish I could rep just this. Cant't stop laughing. OUT LOUD. IN A LIBRARY. You're right. They are very similar. When it comes to viewpoints, you make another good point. We almost always support the narrator first. That's part of why so many people saw Columbus as a hero for so long. (If you can't tell, i'm studying for APUSH, that's why all my examples are Apush-related) But I think you're thinking about it the wrong way. In both stories, the ones we pull hardest for(Kal and Vin, for most casual readers) are the ones who are trying to change, and the ones who realize they might be wrong. Kaladin and Vin both start out just trying to survive, with a hatred for higher ranked people(nobles/lighteyes), meet those highly ranked people, realize they're not all demons(fall for elend/knowing dalinar), and then try to stop hurting the other people those 'demons' are hurting(killing rashek/helping the listener group survive and siding with Leshwe). And despite everyone absolutely HATING on Jasnah, she's trying to do something very similar to what Vin did after Elend became mistborn. Going around, taking control if she has to, and doing her best to help the people who get overlooked. Vin then demanded supplies, whereas Jasnah did not. Condemning Jasnah for attempting to help the little people at the cost of people in control, and for trying to take control is ridiculous, when Vin did something very similar, and is being so profoundly praised. Also, who repped all my posts in this thread in a row, i'm getting so many notifications
  14. Oooh. That's really interesting.
  15. having read warbreaker(hah premonition)
  16. You're right. my post was not worded well, and was moderately adversarial. I should have arranged and worded my post in a nicer way, and one that more directly adresses the prompt, such as: But, you have to keep in mind a few things. Firstly, this is text-only communication. That means that a lot of things will accidently take on negative connotations that are not intended. The second thing is a result of the worlds we're all fans of. Since the magics and world building are so solid, we, as a community tend to want hard evidence or a lot of evidence. With so much info out about Kal, and so many fans of him, a lot of theories are going to be shut down quick, since everybody is so familiar with the topic. As a result, to work in this community, you need to respond to critique one of two ways.(we're all guilty of not doing this, but to foster a good community it's good to try) Either provide more evidence to support your claim, or actively disprove others' critiques. While bringing up that my and returned's critique were made in bad faith is valid, in such an evidence-based community, it's important to respond to the arguments made, as simply claiming that someone should not have made the argument in the way they did does not invalidate their point. Lastly, (I'll admit I'm quite guilty of this) as a result of the way the community functions, and it's identity as a forum, it's important to try your best to avoid sounding as though you are personally attacking someone, and admit when you're wrong. I promise, nobody's trying to attack you, just communicate with you.
  17. 6.5/10 how have you not read warbreaker?
  18. what makes you think hoid is a fashion designer? and where did we determine this is a second life? I doubt Sanderson is going to make hoid a big-three character. all the other secret projects, he's just there until the very end.
  19. Is Yumi literally Jesus? Are spores Jesus? I have some more for vivenna, Jasnah, and 3/4 for moash. also have some for non-cosmere fantasy characters. Literally any fantasy character fits at least a good portion of these, as well as other christ-like qualities. You're not really making very significant connections imo, just pointing out a quirk of the genre as a whole?
  20. I doubt that this will happen accidentally. But, I could totally see Kelsier(Thaidakar) leading people to believe that he is Kal / A herald in order to get what he wants. We already know he is very intent on Rosharan investiture, and if acting like a manifestation of a herald gets people to do stuff for him, he would totally do that in order to achieve his goals.
  21. But Hoid never sees her again in her lifetime?
