In allomancy, atium is both the fastest burning metal and the most destructive. This is because it is of Ruin. I propose that Lerasium has an opposite effect in hemalurgy. When alloyed with another metal into a spike, I believe that it hold the charge at max charge forever, as it preserves the power. (EDIT: Taking into mind Kadrok's reply, an alternate, if severely over powered idea, would be that instead of taking the power completely, the power is copied, therefor preserving the power of the person who would normally be losing power. However, this could be balanced by the rarity of lerasium. I don't fully believe this, but its a possibility.) In feruchemy, there is a diminishing return after a certain point, because it comes from preservation and ruin. However, if drawing strength from a lerasium+pewter alloy metal mind, I believe it will give a full return on the power even after that point, as it preserves the power, while still having a max on how much you could store at one time. Atium alloys in feruchemy, on the opposite side, would allow you to store with no max rate, but drawing from that metal mind would have a much greater diminished return.

Can I see the citation for this?

Sell. Sanderson is reluctant to resurrect characters, and Kelsier already had a "after death activity" XD. Kaladin will free Szeth through some ancient tradition that the Truthless serve the KR over all else, as servants of Honor. Szeth will then teach Kaladin how to lash effectively. After an epic battle of course.

Thank you. I'll spend more time updating ch.1 before I start Ch.2. Might as well get writing style settled before writing any more, less backtracking that way. Have some upvotes for all your help.

Thank you, I'll go back and edit it later tonight. More chapters coming maybe tomorrow night or monday afternoon. EDIT: How would you suggest that I use less "I" in a first person narrative? Should I just swap the story to third person? It would allow for more variation.

This is my first attempt at writing anything of this type. Any advice on diction, grammar, pacing, etc. is appreciated. The document is attached in a rich text format, so should be readable for all. Thanks, Cartith Ch. 1.rtf

I'm planning to write a Mistborn fanfiction featuring an Obligator as the main character. Are there any rules against posting fanfiction on the forums, and if not, where would I post it?
-
I think we had, since they were talking about Conflux giving his powers away, but I'm not sure.

I guessed the Prof as an Epic almost from first meeting, however I should have picked up that he was a gifter when he told David to try the tensor anyway. I just dismissed it as maybe the Prof thought it wasn't as broken as David thought it was.

I've discovered a new metal! It is called procrastinum, and by burning it, you gain the ability to do things tomorrow! By being a procrastinum twinborn like myself, I store my ability to do stuff today, and compound it to be able to do even more things tomorrow. However, when you stop burning, you lose the ability, and if you keep burning, you always do stuff tomorrow, so nothing ever really gets done. A twinborn of this type is called a Procrastinat.

I looked down at the Last online area, and noticed 204 users. i was surprised, then I noticed that a lot of them have weird names, such as( and this is a direct copy/paste): Yf1BJktnw5 , Yr6CHtmkv4 , Zb1TRxetb1 , zcyawkev , zebobes, Zh2VPeovo8 , Zizoz, Zj5YCnnla0 , Zl6QWjuti9 , Zs0THmfip4 ,Zz1RWzjvh4. I am just paranoid, or is this weird? EDIT: I realize a few of those are just normal users, but the others are odd and somewhat alarming.

What if every infusion point was shattered, then a Windrunner picked up one of those little molten pieces once it had cooled, maybe he could infuse it via a Lashing and plate regrown from that little piece?

Sorry about that, I was under the impression that it was cosmere. Now I'm sad.

I would like to announce that I've started watching Doctor Who and am now addicted.

I still have a few decks made, but haven't played in years, like you. My lack of playing comes from a lack of people to play it with.

Its been observed in this thread, http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/3102-sash/?hl=shash#entry50808, and answered in post number 3 of that thread, with a source included.

I agree with the recommendation of David Farland's Runelords. I have trouble reading it because whenever I start, because another book I've been waiting on always comes out. I *think* there might be one kinda sex scene in one of the second or third books, but its very light and very short and has very little impact on the plot. It might not even be there, I just remember allusions and don't recall how far they go. After I get home, I'll update this with more recommendations once I can look at my shelf.

Your 'Most perfect scene' from a book you've read
Cartith replied to Shardlet's topic in General Discussion
The end of Ted Dekker's Circle series. The end of Green I mean, not the original trilogy. That has been the only time I've wanted to go to an author's house and personally strangle him to death for writing such and awesome and sad ending to a series. -
While I do see an inconsistency with the symmetry of having uneven groupings, I think that that wouldn't be an issue. After all, things do not break evenly, so Adonalsium would not have shattered among perfect lines of power where each shard was equal in all realms. While total power is the same, each has a specialized realm they are more powerful in.
-
In Elantris, it says that Elantrians could draw the symbol, but without the intent behind it, such as "I want this symbol to heal you", nothing happened.
-
Ok, the basis of my theory is that Adonalsium's power was in all 3 realms. Therefore, each shard has aspects in all 3 realms. However, I believe that some shards are stronger in 1 realm than the other 2. As if they got more of that aspect of Adonalsium's power when the Shattering occured. The three groupings would be, accordingly, Physical, Cognitive, and Spiritual. So far, we have only really seen 8 shards: Odium, Ruin, Preservation, Honor, Cultivation, Devotion, Endowment, and Dominion. Odium, Honor, Devotion, and Dominion are Cognitive shards under my grouping. Reasons: Odium: Means hatred. Hatred is an emotion, and therefore a thing of the mind, or Cognitive. Honor: Not quite an emotion, but a way of seeing oneself or others, so Cognitive. Devotion: the Devotion of oneself to another, again a matter of the mind. Dominion: a control over others by way of rules and the threat of force, so Cognitive. Endowment, Ruin, and Preservation are Physical. Endowment starts with the Breath, which is the physical focus, then the Command, a Cognitive thing. When Ruin was finally able to act, all of HIS actions were physical. (i.e, earthquakes, ashmounts, etc.).He destroyed physical objects. Preservation keeps things around, physical things. I'm not sure how Cultivation fits in, as I haven't seen enough of Her to know. Ok, so here is the real theory. Shadesmar is dangerous in Sel because 2 cognitive based shards were destroyed. The splintering of them would have had massive effects on the cognitive realm of Shadesmar in Sel. Odium, so far, has only destroyed Cognitive based Shards: Honor, Devotion, and Dominion. Taking this a bit further, with the 3 parts of magic theory. Each part has a physical, cognitive, and spiritual aspect. However, now that I think about it, the Grouping of the Shard may decide which thing comes first. In Allomancy, you start with a metal, Then you decide to burn it, so you started with the Physical focus. In Surgebinding, you decide to pull in the stormlight, then you use it. So you started with the Cognitive decision. In using the Dor, you draw the symbol, a thing without meaning if not for the Cognitive intent, then the power flows through it, so you started with the Cognitive.

I ordered a signed copy of WoK via his website, and just asked him for a tidbit of knowledge for the Cosmere aware. I don't know the WoB status of Shadesmar in Sel, but this signing (re)confirms that it is dangerous. It says exactly, For XXX XXX, Stay away from Shadesmar in Sel, Brandon Sanderson(or rather a squiggly thing that may or may not be his actual name XD)
