  1. Shooting from a distance, though, does not sniping make. Sniping is steathily placing yourself in a position of concealment and waiting for your target to come along and shooting while maintaining your concealment. That is not a fight. At best, it is an ambush. In a face to face fiight, Wayne's disguises (one of his most effective tools) would be of little use. At that point, Wayne's most effective tactic would likely be to put up a bubble and take the time to really draw down on Wax with a calm shot. I am inclined to think that Wax would have the advantage due to his marksmanship coupled with his twinbornness.
  2. It seems like it has worked out well in the long run. It appears that most everyone who is fairly active here has a code. I am sure that there are those out there who desire a code still. But, I have approached a few people in order to share my code and everyone I talked to already had one. I agree with Rainbow that it rapidly turned into a beggars banquet of sorts. I think code requests could be handled much better than a post saying 'please give me a code'. Surely most of us are clever enough express that we desire a code without directly asking for one from the general populus.
  3. That is not battle though, bartbug. That is sniping. I think we need to talk about them facing off.
  4. Actually, it didn't affect me. The PTO had a reserve contingency fund that would have carried us for 4 weeks. It was everybody else that got 2.5 weeks paid vacation.
  5. Ironically, I do work for the gov't. I work for the USPTO. The returned are a special case. But there is more hapening on Nalthis than just returned. there are also awakeners. Can anyone who has enough breath to spend awaken? Or does something have to happen first?
  6. You are not missing anything. When Steelhunt was announced, Brandon said it would include artwork. While the first four releases were chapters, we should expect that several of the ten goodies willn not be. Remember, there are more people than Sharders that are participating in Steelhunt. It is supposed to be neat stuff rather than just exciting info.
  7. That is a good parsing of that quote, Blood. There is of course, one failing in the theory that Jezrien is a traitor as evidenced by Szeth having his blade. Even if it were Jezrien's blade, he would not have been the one to give it to anyone. Jezrien and eight of his fellows abandoned their blades and walked away. This theory therefore implies that at least Jezrien later came back for his blade. Jezrien's instruction to Kalak to leave his blade suggests that the blades are tied to the Oathpact and that the Heralds cannot abondon the one and hold onto the other.
  8. If I was going up against someone who was wielding a claymore, I wouldn't mind having a longsword or a rapier. Sure the claymore has longer reach, but the shorter rapier or longsword has more variety of strokes as well as greater mobility. If both are wielding shardblades then the shorter sword has one set of advantages while the longer sword has a different set. Now if the opposing shardbearer has plate also, then that is certainly more difficult. Just as it would be for longsword against claymore if the claymore guy had full armor. As to the shardbow, there is nothing shard about it except that it takes plate enhanced strength to draw it.
  9. Not precisely. Shardlet actually needs to sift through about a half an hour of recording where most of it is junk. His brain decided to take the night off and watch Hellboy instead. I have permission for everything. Karaokeang and hoser have made their posts. Anything I add from their questions will be flavor. All others I was given carte blanche.
  10. Hard to place something non-physical in a physical bindpoint to grant an attribute or through a physical theft-point to steal an attribute. Also, in what manner would the stolen attribute be stored to make the transfer from donor to recipient?
  11. Tinfoil = aluminum foil. It is a colloquial term that is a holdover from when kitchen foil was made out of tin.
  12. I don't have my book handy for actual quotes but here a paragraph that I provided in my shardblade theory thread which has citations: "I personally believe that the radiantblades and the Honorblades were formed by Honor (and perhaps with Cultivation as well). However, I believe that Szeth's blade is Odium's version of a shardblade. My basis for this belief is that the radiantblades are described as being massive and as being "designed to slay dark gods" (Hardcover, pg. 29). In contrast, Szeth's blade is described as smaller than normal shardblades (hardcover, pg. 25). As I see it, radiantblades are designed to fight great big nasty unnatural beasties (like thunderclasts) while Szeth's blade is designed to fight humans."
  13. Still just as good evidence for energy beams.
  14. I doubt that there will be any description of her which would identify her as Terris to us. The way Brandon said it, it sounded like there was not much description to use to identify her. I would expect her to be someone prominently noted, but not critical in any way.
  15. Wow Robot. Some punctuation and a readthrough before posting would really be helpful here. That is really challenging to decipher.
  16. Szeth describes his blade as being shorter than other shardblades. Szeth or somebody else, I can't recall just now, said something akin to accounting for the large size of shardblades as being designed to fight something huge in size. If Szeth's blade is what I think it is, it was conversely designed to fight human-sized opponents. We assume Honorblades are more powerful than shardblades. We know nothing about it and have no evidence to base anything on. As far as we know, we have never seen an Honorblade in action (other than them being driven into the ground and Taln cutting a groove in the ground while dragging his and cutting through the crossbar of the Kholinar gates). We might as well make the assumption that they can shoot down enemies with beams of energy. The evidence is just as strong.
  17. I quoted myself for the first time (other than for citation). In view of new info, I am now leaning more towards possibility number 2.
  18. That seems, improbable to me. Admittedly, I have no particular evidence against it except to say that it would then make sense for regular shardblades to conform to a smaller size since they have been used primarily to attack human-sized folk for the last 4000 years or so. The large size of a shardblade requires special training and tactics to be wielded effectively. If you are suggesting that it is different because of Jezrien being a Herald or because we are talking about an Honorblade rather than a regular shardblade, then the parallel doesn't necessarily hold up well since the plate has nothing to do with Heralds. Again, not much evidence against it, but it seems off to me.
  19. One reason I am disinclined to think that Szeth has Jezrien's Honorblade, or any other Honorblade for that matter, it that Taln's blade is described in the epilogue as being "massive". This suggests that not only is it big, it is bigger than "typical" shardblades. Extrapolating it out a step further, I would expect that all the Honorblades are similarly "massive". In contrast, Szeth's blade is shorter than "typical" shardblades. Not proof, I know, but it is very suggestive to me.
  20. So, many of you may recall that in the interview Miyabi did with Brandon, Brandon said that there was a Terriswoman worldhopper running around somewhere. So far, I have not heard of any guesses as to where she turns up. Weiry posited that she was Demoux's girlfriend which sounds reasonable since we know Demoux is a worldhopper. But what book is she present in as a worldhopper? Well, Brandon dropped a key tidbit at Seattle as to where she is. She is in Warbreaker somewhere. He also said that she is really hard to spot. So happy hunting.
  21. I recall something about all burned metals returning but that it takes a long time. I suspect however that that has more to do with the burning rather than something special about the metal itself.
  22. Look! Ffnord is bi-lingual!
  23. Except, they get deflected-ish by passing into and out of bubbles.
  24. Actually, I have a lovely tidbit on my recorder about this very topic from the signing. I will post it soon. But, suffice it to be said for now, Brandon at least seemed to suggest that 'snapping' is a part of all the magics. I think it is safe to say though that snaping will operate using different-ish mechanisms in other systems. He only elaborated a bit on Scadrian snapping.
  25. Can't go wrong with atium, the universal spike.
