Finishing Random Twinborn Combinations
Lopens Tenth Cousin replied to Lopens Tenth Cousin's topic in Mistborn
Yes, I know, it was something I addressed in the naming portion. However, in space age cosmere (or if you're just a worldhopper) gold compounding would be amazing due to the fact that the thing scientists are most worried about when interacting with other forms of complex life is the diseases we do not have a resistance to - with gold compounding, you would essentially have an unbeatable immune system, and it would allow you to study things that are normally too dangerous otherwise (e.g. the First of the Sun or maybe even possibly Sel's subastral) Edit: I'm also just a huge nerd and wish I could worldhop and be immune to most of the possible negative effects. -
Finishing Random Twinborn Combinations

@DoctaDajmanyeah I agree with the combat applications, but the rating isn't based on that. It is the cost -benefit analysis based on how much better it is than just having one power or the other. I do agree that Pewter gold would be better for most combat situations (you don't need to heal something if you can just avoid it), but unless a gold compounder runs out of gold they're essentially unkillable. Maybe not as dangerous, but less likely to die. -
So I had an absolutely insane idea. Shardplate enhances the physical strength of the wearer, and both allomantic and feruchemic pewter provide enhanced strength within the user as well. There was a whole discussion of the strength of shardplate right here, but I was wondering whether that was the limit of the shardplate, or if the shardplate was limited by the strength of the person. If someone was burning or tapping Pewter while wearing shardplate, what's the theoretical limit of what they could do? Dalinar leaped about 8ft in the air wearing shardplate (thanks @Green Hoodie Mistborn), and Allomantic Pewter also enhances how high you could jump - would you be able to do a hulk leap and smash? Could you lift up some ridiculously heavy objects? Or would the shardplate actually limit your jump height as a Pewterarm, but increase your natural strength? Some other combo? Sorry I just had to barf this out of my head real quick before I went insane.

Finishing Random Twinborn Combinations

Lol I love how we're already getting super meta. I'll get to it I promise but since... I rolled a compounder, I'm going to do two (especially because it is a compounder we've already seen), and not do Iron compounding today, sorry. Twinborn Combo #2: A-Gold/F-Gold (Shows past self / Stores Health) So allomantic gold allows you to see possible past versions of yourself simultaneously, which would be a very weird experience, especially the first time. Although it would be great for a philosopher and for self reflection, it's not that useful for combat situations. Feruchemical gold, on the other hand, is very useful, with the storing of Health to use to heal yourself. Realmatic theory doohickies below (slight SA spoilers(Not WaT)): Compounding these two abilities would be insane, as we have seen from Miles Hundredlives and the Lord Ruler. Basically, while you have metalminds, you're really never gonna die. Resonance: Due to the nature of compounding, resonances rarely occur due to over-reliance on the feruchemical power, but if both powers were developed significantly, I would think the resonance would be somewhere along the lines of being able to heal scars better (as it's a form of your past self, but it goes with your healing power) Name: Atlas said Immortal on the document, and I think that name fits mostly, but as they can still die of old age I think I'll go with Invincible (I'm not ever going to rewrite one of Atlas' names without their permission) Rating: 8.5/10, due to the fact that although it is insane, it is likely to lead you down the path of savantism and cause issues. Twinborn Combo #3: Can't believe that I got F-Gold twice in one day but whatever. A-Pewter/F-Gold (Increases Physical Abilities / Stores Health) Now this, this could be insane, as A-Pewter, although it increases strength, speed, and temperature resistance, also increases the time you can stay standing with injuries. I don't know if it would be considered "Healing," as it's more like prolonging injury, but you may be able to store this inside of a gold metalmind in order to pull on it on times where you're low on Feruchemical health. Basically, with this combo, you'd be insane in close range fights, and would be able to shrug off most wounds that would be mortal wounds on most people. Resonance: I think the resonance to this would be an increased higher health capacity, similar to that of someone with a Nalthian Biochromatic Breath. Name: Atlas and the MAG (Mistborn Adventure Game) agree on the name Bruteblood, and that seems to be the general consensus of the name. Rating: 7/10. Also absolutely insane for a fighter (particularly in hand to hand), but probably will lead to savantism. Also for future reference, I'm open for discussion on any of these things that you disagree with or want to expand upon. -
I was very, very late to this party. The last post in the main thread was on March 11, 2024, which was over a year ago. I ended up reading through all of the thread and I liked the idea. I almost continued it, but I decided to get new people interested, it would be better if a new one was made. The original thread was made by @Koloss17 right here. (I got permission to post from them before I posted) I will do my best to not repost any of the combos that were found on that thread, so if you want to review those options I highly encourage looking through that thread if you have time. Additionally, @Atlas333 was kind enough to make a spreadsheet with already done Twinborn Combos right here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_Xbhypr0ihq1A3rLzmvr0wcHL-TKnm81m6LIyK9lMqQ/edit#gid=0 Green highlighted squares are Compounders, and the blue highlighted squares have been done (some are blank because there were no great names I assume) Atlas can correct me if I'm wrong. The original thread was any Twinborn combinations of the 16 base metals and Atium included because why not. It was randomly determined and posted each day until it kinda died. I can't promise to post each day, but I can post pretty consistently (also if I don't post one day feel free to post I don't have to do everything). There will be a discussion of the individual powers, and how they could possibly synergize, with possible resonances, a suggested name, and an arbitrary rating. That being said, I want to do the first combo today, starting off with combo #1 of this thread: A-Duralumin/F-Copper (Enhances Current Metal Burned / Stores Memories) Allomantic duralumin is interesting in the fact that the burst of power is useless without other metals to enhance. However, in the previous thread there was discussion pertaining to whether or not duralumin would provide a burst of power in relation to other MoI - most relevantly Feruchemy. So, while a duralumin gnat, there may be potential benefits when combined with feruchemical abilities. WOB: That being said, F-Copper stores memories - exactly the same as they were when you first received them, but with degradation for however long it was out of the metalmind. The memories are impeccable - but you don't notice anything with enhanced perception (AFAIK). From this, I have two different conjectures: Burning duralumin while Tapping Copper will enhance the memories to the point where you will notice a lot more than typical but it will degrade the memory at a higher rate. Other mental benefits could be prevalent, such as in this WOB (Talks about Copper Compounding, but duralumin could do something similar): Burning duralumin while Tapping Copper causes the memory to flash by too fast for you to really make any sense of it and it degrades the memory majorly. This is probably more likely to happen than #1, but I think #1 would be cooler so I'm going to go with that. I'm just going to go ahead and say that more details would be able to be noticed. Resonance: These are hard to define but I will do my best - I think an increased ability to process information during explosive events or normally deep perspective thoughts Name: I'm going to go with Mindburst, seeing as it is similar to Nicroburst although to do with memories. Rating: This twinborn wouldn't be the most useful in combat, but for a detective or some similar occupation it could be pretty useful (if my theory is true) so 7/10 as it would be useful in daily life. Unless my theory is wrong, then it would be a 3/10, as it wouldn't be better than having just F-Copper, but it would be better than just having A-Duralumin.

which bendalloy twinborn would you like to be?
Lopens Tenth Cousin replied to Entr0pic's topic in Mistborn
@Entr0pic If I'm not mistaken, you can do multiple polls in a single post (I don't know the limit). This would be great if you still want the poll results (and community involvement) - it might be a better idea than having 16 different posts. -
Personally, for combat I would have A-Pewter and F-Iron, due to the fact that I would be able to jump through the skies like a coinshot, but not leave any metal behind. Additionally, I would be able to use increased weight along with A-Pewter to deliver crushing blows to my enemies. For everyday life, I would have A-Tin and F-Brass, because both are relatively inexpensive metals and I would like to be able to perceive things better, and storing heat would be really good in the summer and tapping heat would be great for the winter (or, y'know... when the guy gives the girl the suit jacket or something and suffers being cold so she doesn't have to if y'know what I mean)

I got a perfect split between Stoneward and Windrunner, with Edgedancer and Truthwatcher very slightly behind (in that order(ha! get it?))

Wait... that's not how you say it? My whole world is upside down now

I think possibly with the flowing ones, to at least make them less maneuverable, you could pour something with a high amount of viscosity like Tar onto the ground so they aren't allowed to slide around as easily. They might move as fast or maybe a little faster than a normal person, but their movement should be greatly limited.

I know I'm already about a year late to this topic, but something that occurred to me recently was that in the Frugal Wizard's Handbook, it specifically states that these worlds were less developed (not actually time travelling) but to not go to the Americas. I understand not wanting to cause the colonization event again, but is it possible that it was just Afroeurasia that wasn't as technologically advanced? As far as we know the Americas could have figured out certain technologies on their own through their own development - they could have made steel tools and weapons, built the American continent equivalent of the Silk Road, or done some other feasible thing such as finding an alternative to gunpowder. Anyways let me know what you think.

Speculations for Horneater [Discuss]
Lopens Tenth Cousin replied to Lopens Tenth Cousin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thank you for that. I realized as soon as I posted it it was in the wrong section -
Okay I know Horneater is a while off, but I wanted to hear speculations about it and I had a couple of thoughts. The Night of Sorrows brought a new, modified Everstorm. This Everstorm was (iirc) described as low(er) to the ground and stretched across the entire continent except for Azimir. I was wondering if this included the Horneater Peaks, as mountains often poke out of clouds... If so, what would this mean for the Horneaters that live on those peaks? Cultivation's Perpendicularity disappeared from the Peaks when she fled Roshar. Am I wrong in thinking that this was the main source of heat and air pressure of the Peaks? Would they have a completely different environment and be forced to adapt? Also if I'm wrong about quotes or anything please tell me Edit: I probably posted this in the wrong place, and I am not sure how to move it, so if it can be moved that would be great, sorry!

Does anyone know if the Chasm Kata was based off of a real life Kata, or if it was purely Brandon's brainchild?

Give me your least relevant and impactful speculations
Lopens Tenth Cousin replied to Antioch's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Possibly, but the only problem is the pressure made from the explosion of the Zephyr spores would need a more sturdy container then just the light and heat from sunlight spores... but I suppose it would still work Also, the stick that Shallan had such a trouble Soulcasting is going to be Awakened by Vasher. -

I think similar to how we have air fryers, they will have "sunlight spore fryers" (maybe eventually) -
thats... thats a good first reaction I think my favorite combo would be a

Theoretically, shouldn't Nahel bonds using Sja-Anat's corrupted True Spren be able to use Warlight to utilize their Surgebinding powers due to the Connection that they have to both Honor and Odium? Additionally, due to the corruption of the Azimir Oathgate Spren, shouldn't that Oathgate be able to function off of Warlight, allowing for transfer between Shadesmar and the Physical Realm?

That's so real. I've missed so many details in literally every book.
