  1. (screenshot pulled from Pharaoh, by the way, one of the main inspirations for this game) Also, people who want Stewardship of an entire Dominance... That's not gonna happen. A city is a lot smaller than a Dominance, and while I would be willing to give you control over an aspect of the Dominance, you won't get all of it. And could people please remember to state where their buildings are? Thanks.
  2. A creature (or any permanent) with Hexproof cannot be the target of any spell or ability an opponent controls. This includes Planeswalker abilities. Note that this means you cannot cast or activate (or trigger) these spells or abilities with that creature as a target, so if there are no valid targets, you can't use them. This is often why Planeswalkers say 'up to one creature', so you can still activate their plus loyalty abilities. If a creature becomes Hexproof before a spell resolves, it is no longer affected by the spell or ability, and if the spell or ability only targeted it, it is countered as a state-based action. Compare to Shroud, which was the older version, which prevented all players from targeting the creature. This meant you couldn't cast spells or target them with abilities, or even enchant or equip them. Interestingly though, and this goes for Hexproof too on your opponent's creatures, it is possible to bypass enchant and equip, and attach auras and equipment to Hexproof/Shrouded creatures by effects such as Zur, the Enchanter. This is incredibly useful for my EDH deck built around Zur, as it means I can Pacify horrible Shrouded/Hexproofed creatures. Abilities which target players get around Hexproof - Spells such as Cruel Edict target the player, and they make the choice, for instance. Abilities which don't target the creature can also still affect it, such as Council's Judgement.
  3. I'm glad I kept you guessing - My plan was to remain in that sort of area. As a player who's been around for more than a year, it's almost impossible for me to survive until the end without someone asking '...why's that guy alive again?'. So the idea was that by appearing to be within lynch range, I could counter that question and put pressure on people voting for me by suggesting it was their plan. Admittedly, it didn't work out quite as well as I hoped - People missed the extra layers until right up until the end and just went for the obvious (and in this case correct) answer . It was a bit of both, but not an entirely serious post. My intention wasn't to get you lynched (unless it happened that it went that way) but to throw a bit of confusion in the air and make people discuss things not related to me or my teammates. Getting you mixed up with Adamir was an entirely honest mistake, and I wouldn't have tried it if I had gotten that information correct, as there was pretty much nothing to pull you up on otherwise and I'd already said you were basically confirmed innocent. I got really annoyed with myself the next day for making such a stupid mistake which i feared could have cost us dearly. I'd have been interested in seeing what happened if you accused those two alongside me. I really have no idea what that might have resulted in. And yeah, that's definitely Survived for you. Write-up fluff doesn't count, as long as you survive the game! After Lopen saved me last-minute, I was hoping we could change our kill from him to you as a reward for him, but sadly it was too late in the Cycle to arrange that. Sorry Lopen
  4. I am apparently the God of Deja Vu: Kill Meta early Be active player (not odd for me though) Inactive Eliminator lynched on first day (though I didn't have a hand in it this time) Get given bonus power by player (though extra Breath had no effect here) Survive and win Only major difference is that I was very much up for the chop several times this game round . ...But now you've said that, I can't play a game with you because I will always be blamed when you inevitably die first Cycle. Thanks Meta >>.
  5. Turn 2 Votir Zerrung closed the door behind him as he entered the Canton of Hegemony's waiting room. He was surprised to see Lord Izenry waiting there before him, reading a well-thumbed copy of a somewhat large book, but nodded politely to the man all the same. He sat down on one of the comfortable chairs, before a low-resting table. In a corner, a skaa played a gentle tune on a piano, looking rather tired. He wondered briefly if the man had to play even if there was no-one else in the room. Ah well, it wasn't as though such a thing mattered. "...Have you been waiting long?" He asked Lord Izenry, after a while, when the ambience got a little too awkward. "Are they seeing someone else at the moment?" "Indeed. I believe Lord Tekiel is seeing them right now," Cifan Izenry replied. "I'm surprised that Lord Tekiel has shown his face here at all," Lord Zerrung said, smirking a little. "Has time healed that wound already? I expected House Tekiel to be in The Lord Ruler's bad books for at least another hundred years. I doubt he forgives that quickly." "You forget that while the Steel Ministry work for him, they are not The Lord Ruler himself. They only concern themselves with the running of his Empire, not his personal vendettas." "Bold words for someone reading one of his favourite propaganda books," Lord Zerrung commented. Lord Izenry closed the book he was reading and put it on the table. "Sen Penrod's The Sliver of Infinity may be propaganda, but it is still an interesting history. Considering it's the official like the Canton of Orthodoxy takes, I do not think it remiss to brush up on the details, hm? Besides, it was the only thing available to read here." Lord Zerrung snorted, but covered it up with a cough. "'The Sliver of Infinity'? Such a fanciful and overly-flattering title. Could he not have thought of something less obsequious?" A door opened, cutting off their conversation. Lord Tekiel stepped out of the office of Lord Benedict, of no House, the High Prelan of the Canton of Hegemony. He smiled and shook the High Prelan's hand. "Cifan Izenry," Benedict said. "I will see you now." He went back into his office, and Lord Izenry followed. "...So what were you seeing him about?" Lord Zerrung asked. "I suppose they want to make sure you're not doing anything as stupid as your ancestors have done." Lord Tekiel, to Zerrung's surprise, favoured him with a smile instead of a frown or an insult. "Not at all, Lord Zerrung. You are, in fact, staring gormlessly at the new Governor of Fadrex City." He smiled and started walking out, a slight spring in his step. Lord Zerrung watched him leave. "You- To hell with you!" He said, shaking his fist angrily as the other man left. "I hope for your sake you keep a tight hold on Fadrex, because as soon as you slip up..." "Thank you for the warning," Lord Tekiel replied. "I shall take it under consideration." Generation 3, Turn 2 has begun! It will end at 6PM BST on the 15th of August. Generation 3 Player List PMs will be sent shortly.
  6. You all had three attempts at it, so not as if you didn't try . I too am impressed by phattemer getting us all on that Cycle. You see why I reacted quite so forcefully in response >>. That last Cycle was really touch-and-go for a moment there. I was very concerned that as soon as I got lynched, my teammates would follow me shortly afterwards. You guys really gave us a run for our money multiple times, and it was a very fun game.
  7. The idea of 'let myself be lynched' is no longer valid when we could very well lose with this lynch. If I let us go to 3-3 without even a fight, we are entirely dependant on what side Jain is on. If Jain is an Eliminator, then it becomes 3-2 in our favour and it's possible we can win, IF we hit Eliminators only and Jain does not return to the game and no-one misses a lynch. I don't feel too confident when it comes to the first thing there, it must be said. If Jain is not an Eliminator, however, then it effectively becomes 2-3 and we've lost. Simple fact of the matter is that I cannot die just to get my info into the trusted status right now, especially when there's a very real possibility the other player up for the lynch is an Eliminator. Obviously at the moment, if the coin flip is not in my favour, I die and things look grim for us. If not, and you are an Eliminator, we should be alright. We can definitely come back from it if we lynch your other two people the next two lunches. Difficult, but not impossible. I've done that before, after all. If we're both Village then things are very dire. Hopefully Jain is an Eliminator and we can come back from another Village lynch, but at the very least I don't want to rely on other people remaining inactive here. I'm not going to die for someone who more and more seems to me to be an Eliminator by suggesting the use of mid-game tactics to obtain information. It's too late to do that: we simply don't have enough of a buffer anymore to do that.
  8. Of all the times for my internet to go belly-up :S. So currently, there is a tie between myself and Orlok. Miscounted the votes. Apologies. I am tying the vote here. We need to get an Eliminator lynched this Turn, otherwise we have as good as lost (barring Jain being one). As such, I have no choice but to remove my vote from Lopen and to vote for Orlok, in the hopes that he is one and it's not a contest between two Villagers. I must admit though, his latest post makes me lean towards doing that regardless of the voting situation. He seems to be trying to get people to lynch someone that they may not fully believe is guilty - and that is incredibly dangerous when we're at this stage in the game. Why lynch for information when it is quite possibly the second-to-last Cycle of the game? Answer: Because it's a call to bandwagon onto me instead of being sensible and using the evidence presented previously.
  9. This bloody internet... This update is brought to you via tethering from my phone! So, yeah. Internet still not fixed on my computer, so currently sending out rollover PMs will be a massive pain (particularly since I need to keep an eye on my phone's internet usage). I'll keep you guys updated, but I have no idea what this problem is or if/when it will be fixed. Currently it's looking like rollover may be either later in the day, or might take place tomorrow - I'll let you know. Update: My internet is now fixed. Rollover will be occurring as usual, though bear in mind that it may take a little longer than usual.
  10. The Turn has ended! I will not accept any Actions anymore for it. Edit: Would be great if I could actually do anything with this stupid internet. There may be a delay for the start of the next Cycle.
  11. Okay, thanks Bort. That's everyone signed in to the Cycle, which is good. Nothing that people have said has stood out particularly, except that people are really dwelling on 'Wyrm's alive, so he must be an Eliminator'. I've said before that tunneling isn't useful, and it's a good way for us to lose very quickly. I'm looking more at Lopen now. He hasn't placed a vote anywhere, but he has called out multiple people within a short amount of time. He has also commented that his suspicions of me are because I'm an active player (is that really odd?) and we've lynched the wrong people multiple times. Not really sure that that reasoning works out. Only person I've called out has been phattemer, which was a mistake, but again, it seems to come back to this idea that I've been telling people who to lynch or whatever. I'd like to know why he seems to be focusing on me so much like this.
  12. Speak of the Tekiel, and he shall appear! ...Admittedly stream-crossing, but I couldn't resist the pun >>. Thanks for such a quick reply. I'll remove my vote from Orlok for now in light of the fact that he promises to be more active in the near future, but he should be aware that it is likely to go back on if he doesn't get back with some analysis as promised in the near future. The only other active player who hasn't checked in yet is Bort. He's usually around now-ish, though admittedly it is a weekend. I think he's actually the only player not even mentioned so far today, which is rather interesting, one way or another. I'd just like to know what his thoughts are at the moment, and see if any of those provoke discussion.
  13. ...That's embarrassing. Vote on Raven withdrawn, no further questions m'lud etc. Have no idea how I got those wires crossed :S I do resent the implication I was trying to get you lynched though. I was hoping to provoke discussion on the point I raised, though obviously in hindsight I should have checked my sources closer before heading off to bed. If I was really trying to lynch you, I wouldn't have called you fairly innocent all these past Cycles. I also didn't call you out directly as an Eliminator in there, for what it's worth. A worrying number of people are absent at the moment, apparently. I know it's late for poke votes, but I find Orlok's absence really suspicious/distressing right now, considering he has been somewhat around on the forums, apparently. Other than that, I guess I'm at a bit of a loss right now. Vauhsoj' semi-activity is also odd, but if he's away for the rest of the Turn, we aren't going to get much out of him. Hopefully a vote will spur him into some action. If I don't get anything within the next 12 hours, I'll reconsider my options again. Lopen, you asked about feedback on his vote and your defence. While I would say that a shift in tone could possibly indicate aid from elsewhere (objectively speaking; not accusing you of anything here), it is also possible that a new player just turns out to be a lot better than they think and realise. I'd say his accusation is understandable, but not too useful for us without extra evidence against you. Your point about your analysis being wrong is a good response, but being wrong should just mean you try again, not that you give up on it! . Also, remember that we have an extended Cycle today, so his being gone 'today and tomorrow' isn't quite so bad as it seems at first (though it is irritating by all means). We should be using the extra time to generate discussion, rather than just try and cement a lynch this early on. We still have, effectively, another 'Day' to get that sorted out.
  14. Thanks Adamir, though it turned out not to be needed. Point of order, Jerric, I'm not the only experienced player left. Panda has played a lot of games, even if he isn't currently here, and you have been around almost as long as I have, even if you've played many less games than me. Orlok's played a good number by now as well. I'm the most experienced player, yes, but I feel it's a bit odd to say I'm the 'only' one left. I'm thinking that we're going entirely in the wrong direction now. I'm starting to wonder if Jain is actually an inactive Eliminator, as it would make sense as to why we've not found anything yet. Though I really would feel bad for them if they had two inactives. I've said before though that this is definitely the least useful area to look, so let's discard it for now. Is it possible that Alvron was actually right last Cycle (or was it the Cycle before?) when he said that he was suspicious that one of Shallan's teammates was in on her lynch? It's possible. He put a vote on Raven before his death, but it seems to me that his primary suspicion of me would be an excellent way to deflect this suspicion onto another player, particularly combined with the apparent focus on getting me lynched. It would also explain why I haven't been killed yet, because, as happens in many games, they're hoping this 'why aren't the more experienced players dead?' line will do it for them without having to put any effort in. There was also a bit of a threat on Adamir, something I dislike. Perhaps trying to reduce player numbers at a faster rate? I'm going to look more at stuff tomorrow, but it's getting a bit late now. We've got more time though, which is good, so that is at least something we can make use of. I'll do some more thinking tomorrow, and see what I can come up with.
  15. Hmm, very good idea. Makes sense that you would feed your House rather than your skaa if short. Though not having Weapons does not apply a penalty, just to be clear. At the end of the Generation, if you do not have a Tier 2 Food to be consumed, your Skaa Rep will drop a bit. Likewise, if you have no Tier 2 Luxury, your House Rep will drop a bit.
  16. I'm going to remove my vote from Alvron. I've made a decision on whether to jump into a grave or not, and the decision is against it. This late in the game, we cannot afford passive play from anyone. We couldn't afford it previously, for that matter, but the later the stage of the game, the more important it is. Considering my vote for him, it's clear that I feel Alvron is also somewhat suspicious (I admit it may be coloured by his vote for me slightly), but at the same time I find it very interesting that The Only Joe suggested 'if not Wyrm, then Alvron'. Ignoring the fact that these sort of statements are always suspect because it suggest a chain of lynching which is very beneficial for Eliminators to establish (as picking innocent players in a row can lead to 'free' lynches, essentially, before someone calls them on it), he provided absolutely zero evidence for such a claim. Sure, I'd have liked to have seen more information from Alvron and I think his claims about me are odd (particularly the get-out clause he leaves himself), but Joe provided no real information as to what caused him to say that. 'Gut feelings' should never be used in place of actual evidence, particularly since the players having them don't commit themselves to anything by saying it. Something interesting to note: There are three upvotes on Sir Jerric's post already. One's from me, for the RP, and presumably another is from Bort, since I see him on the thread right now. So who is the third who got in, read it, and disappeared so quickly?
  17. Thanks Sir Jerric. I had managed to miss that post when looking back over things, and as I said earlier, I wasn't concerned about you really. Just wanted to kind of make sure, really. Okay, thanks for explaining the vote on Adamir. I'm still very concerned by the 'case' against me. I mean, putting aside from votes springing up on me overnight when there's no chance for discussion (though admittedly I have tried to respond to people previously, so it might not be so urgent here), it all seems very... odd. All I ever get out of people when they say I'm suspicious is 'Oh, so-and-so said so, and I agree' or 'Your posts seem off' or 'you've been controlling the game'. Well, the former isn't giving a reason to vote, you're giving someone else's. The second suffers majorly from my being outspoken and talking the most, and the latter isn't even a charge. As I said, I don't make people do anything or lynch specific people. I try to get information out, that's all. Pouncing on phattemer like that was a mistake in hindsight, yeah, but I would say even now my reasoning was sound and I stand by it, even if it lead to the wrong conclusion. More worryingly, I've not seen anyone actually try and do some decent analysis on me, aside from phattemer whose reasoning I've already been over. I might be paranoid about this by now, but it definitely feels like I am being singled out as an easy lynch, as people don't apparently have to give out solid information to do it with. A gut feeling is apparently enough. I would not be surprised if most of the people currently voting for me are Eliminators, now we're getting closer to the end of the game. Probably not all of them (perhaps even only one of them, if they could rely on the Village to tunnel enough), but I feel too much like a 'focal point' for everyone's arguments at the moment. Half of me is tempted to vote for Joe, since his vote confirmed my lynch, which makes me suspicious (he also claims I 'used' him to stop Meta's plan, which is a little silly when you look back over it. We were basically discussing it separately, not bouncing off each other and then discussing with Meta, after all). I'd need to look back over some of his other posts before deciding to do that. The other half of me is tempted to just let the 50/50 shot at taking me out, since if it goes for Joe it makes no difference to me, and if it hits me at least people will stop focusing on me (story of my life, these recent games...). I am a bit busy though this morning, which is less than helpful at this critical juncture. I'll try and make some more time around lunch.
  18. So I'm at a bit of a loss right now, and it's getting rather late. I've decided I'm going to just list the other remaining players and my thoughts on them, and let the night shift have a look at things for me. Orlok Tsubodai - ??? - Black/Red - Semi-active, but seems helpful when prodded. Perhaps only when prodded? Might be sitting back and watching the game rather than just getting on when he can. Bort - Bortholomew the Blind - White/Grey - Nothing damning from him, far as I can tell, but I'd like an explanation from him as to why he voted for Lightsworn Panda in the previous Cycle, but shortly after reminded phattemer that the player was absent afterwards. Adamir - Shar, God of Sacrifice - Red/Gold - Said he'd give up his Breath due to inactivity, but failed to do so. Have to see what he does this Cycle with it. If not, perhaps lynch him? Maybe only if we have no better options. Alvron - Brightwater the Keen - Deep Green/Silver - Not very active, but packs a bit in with his posts. I've poked him to see what he says. He also seems to be paying less attention to the happenings of the game, which I suppose is possibly attributable to his busy schedule. Ser Jerric - Jadebuffer the Eerie - Turquoise and Orange - One I might be inclined to put in the 'innocence' section. His posts have, as always for him, been well thought out and comprehensive. Could be more active, but most people could in this game. He did vote for a bandwagon and express distaste with doing so though, which is contradictory. If you dislike it, why did you do it? Lightsworn Panda - Jain the Panda - Black/White - Seems to be actually inactive. May be an Eliminator with no time/unable to get to the computer, but if so, is of the lowest priority. By the very nature of an inactive, we have no proof either way. Vauhsoj - Funweaver the Festive - Pink/Yellow - Seems to be a bit stuck on poking inactives. Could be an Eliminator stuck on a tactic, perhaps. He seemed concerned about lynching a player by accident, but I suppose it's a bit excusable if it's only intended to be a poke vote. Might just be a new player unsure of what to do though. RavenRadiant7 - Ri the Mysterious - Black/Silver - I'd put Raven in the innocence pile too, due to the vote in the first Cycle and subsequent posts. Of all people to vote for an inactive Eliminator, I would not expect it from a newer player. Possible, yes, but highly doubtful. The Only Joe - Sharkbait the Incompetent - Blue/Copper - Strangely, Joe was quite active during the first Cycle, but seems to have tapered off as of late. I'd like to know if there's a reason for that, if there is one, as it seems a bit odd. Otherwise, I'd say more innocent than guilty here. The Mighty Lopen - Gancho the Crass - Purple/White - Strangely enough, he's slipped under my radar quite a bit. Looking back, I find Cycle 2 interesting, with Lopen being one of the potential lynches, but not getting any votes the following days. He and Joe voted for each other which is odd. If Lopen is an Eliminator, it might implicate Alvron (edit: sorry, looked at the wrong column of my sheet. Looks like that's just self-preservation here). I'm not sure what to make of these points. There are very few players I feel inclined to call innocent, and none I see as outright guilty here. I think it's odd how some people have erratic schedules right now, but the sheer number of people doing that is concerning.
  19. ...Oh Storms Kalad's Phantoms. I guess I was just being a bit self-centered, thinking the Eliminators were trying to get me lynched through phattemer. They must have been very pleased that we started looking at each other like that, doing their work for them. I'm going to have to take a step back and think about this quite a bit. In truth, I'm considering giving up my Breath to someone who might get killed tonight (even if it is out-of-character for Redcross), since I'm so off the mark here and they'll be of more use... Though I guess that this late on, it's dangerous to do that. As I say, I'll have a think and come back to you when I've found something that might be useful. I suppose that before then, I'd like to hear from Alvron about things? I know you're always rather busy, but you've only voted once so far on the four days - and one was a vote you apparently didn't think would have an effect. I'd just like to know why you haven't done anything which has been intended to have a game effect, other than a small amount of discussion.
  20. Even a 'moronic' explanation is useful. At the very least, it might make other people speak up who can put this problem into words.
  21. ...Except I never did. I poked him for absenteeism and responded to his comments, but I've never expressed suspicions about him being an Eliminator. I understand if you're getting a little confused with regards to that considering I did put a vote on him, but . And now moving on to another point (never too late to discuss!), a couple of people have said something feels 'off' about me this game, but have never actually said what. If the point of this game is to discuss, why haven't you tried articulating your thoughts so they can be picked apart and examined for evidence? Admittedly, it wouldn't be the first time this has happened to me in a game like this, but it is pretty hard to respond to it when I don't know what I'm not being asked to explain. In any case, today's lynch should at least set some of your minds to rest.
  22. A sheep.... dairy, Araris? Delicious sheep cheese... Not usually, no. What is more likely to happen is a decrease in Upkeep costs.
  23. Thank you Sir Jerric for your comments. You're quite right that the only way to prove the validity of your arguments is to be killed and be shown as Village. In a lot of games outside the forum, that's how the Cop Roles are played: The Cop investigates people, then gets themselves killed in order to confirm their innocence and the truth of what they say. I don't see it myself, but games get played rather differently outside of here. With regards to your comments, it's an interesting idea to have everything out in the open like that. In all honesty, I think the only way to play a game like this is out in the open. Your information and suspicions help no-one when they're dead, after all. I don't know whether suggesting plans the Eliminators might follow really does anything though. Wine games like that are good to tie up time though. Phattemer seems to have ramped up the attack on me. I quite like that he says that if I were innocent, I'd let the others go through, because it shows the fact that it still doesn't make sense. His only evidence about the three I'm included in is that I'm included in it. By his own logic, if I am not amongst them, then the other targets are innocent (or at least, are not guilty by association with me). My 'distrust' of you, as someone put it, is due to the flimsy arguments you're using to try and get me lynched. Seems like someone saw my argument with Meta and thought 'Ah, that's an easy way to get Wyrm killed, and we don't even have to look guilty doing it!'. Of course, I doubt all your friends are going to vote for me, that would be too easy. You just need to start the bandwagon and get others to finish it off - or perhaps even call it off for another day if needed. And if I end up looking too Village, I can always be killed. Joe raises a good point - Why, if I wasn't the only one to argue with Meta, am I being targeted like this? I've been confrontational and responded defensively to things, but why in the world wouldn't you respond to points made against you? Someone who defends themselves could either be a guilty Eliminator or - gasp! - an innocent Villager attempting to stop the Village making a mistake. By that argument, people should ignore all the comments sent their way and entirely focus on getting other people lynched rather than defending oneself. I think we can both agree that that just doesn't gel. Phattemer seems willing to actually vote for me this Cycle - Interesting compared to last Cycle, when he hid behind Bort for 'fear of losing a good Villager'. That's not good reasoning, because if I'm so good a Villager, why am I also not so very dangerous as an Eliminator? And I've already gone over your other points made of me last Cycle. Your arguments are flawed and don't show what you say they show. That inconsistency is why I am voting for you.
  24. Why do you think that will cause me regrets? I mean stuff like 'two Farms, two Bakeries, a Farm and a Bakery', etc.
