Wouldn't have been Night 1, that was Meta. Unless you did mean Meta. In which case, I'd hardly call him defenceless. 20 minutes of sign-up left.- 1686 replies

Remind me how well that went for you in QF9 again? >>. An hour left for signups. And with regards to what Adavantos mentioned... I realised that overwriting Roles in general was too strong, but it wasn't your strategy that made me think so.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wurum opened his eyes. Shaking, he reached across for the glass of water he had poured and placed by his bedside before he went to bed. His hand slipped, and the glass tumbled from his grip, falling onto the floor and smashing. Shards flew in every direction, sliding across the floor and under his bed. "I wonder," he muttered, "if that is how the God Beyond felt..." It was poetic, in a way. Lives shattered like broken glass, impossible to put back together. His fingers flexed uncontrollably. "Dammit." He gripped his wrist, burning pewter to force it from shaking. He pressed a button on the side of his bed, and a tiny little man made of rope waltzed into the room, an oversized dustpan and brush in one of its hands to sweep up the debris, and a cloth in the other to wipe up the water. Standing up, keeping a hand on the bedpost so he didn't fall, Wurum made his way carefully into the captain's en suite. He blearily looked at himself in the mirror. He snarled at the face he saw, tearing open the cupboard above it and taking out a small plastic tub of medication. He looked at the instructions, but gave up when the words refused to swim into focus. He ripped the lid off and tossed a few colourful pills into a glass on the side, filled it with water, and knocked it back before he could drop the glass again. He sat back, perching on the toilet seat lid as he waited for them to take effect. He stopped burning pewter, and immediately felt sick. He persevered though, for the pewter would stop the medicine taking effect quickly. After a few minutes, the world began to settle, and he took a deep breath of relief. A hand subconciously went up to his ear, where side-by-side were implanted two earring-spikes; one of atium, one of electrum. A seer and an augur had incredible foresight, he knew this was true. But it also taxed the mind immensely, even beyond that of a normal Hemalurgic implant. He had lost count of the number of times he had 'died'. Killed by a koloss that regressed to its primal state, battered and bloodied in a tremendous Rosharian storm, the life stripped out of him by a misfired AonDor... all of these had felt so real, and had proven so close to truth... And yet he was still here. It was why he suffered these visions, because they gave him this precognition, this ability to react. His vision told him this: Someone was going to die on this ship, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Several more might die, even if he tried. He might find himself on the wrong side of an airlock, even, if it was not dealt with swiftly. He thought he knew the perpetrators, yes, but... Investiture interfered with Investiture, and the Shardship was practically made out of the stuff. Were his visions wholly correct? Were they even partially correct? He couldn't say, not in a place like this. But the general gist was true, he thought. A number of people out of this select group that he had been investigating. Perhaps one or two more, perhaps one or two less, but it would mostly be correct. Sighing, he stood up, pleased at least that the world was not wobbling. He could worry about hidden plots later; for now, he had a ship to run and mining prospects to examine. The ore must flow. Hopefully this will go better this time. I don't like it when things like this happen, because my aim is to have people enjoy themselves above everything else. I hope you'll all forgive me for such a bad start. General Rules This plays like a standard game of Elimination. There will be several Traitors sprinkled within the crew, who collaborate on a Google Doc, and the game follows a standard sequence of Day/Night Shifts, with votes being taken in the day, and most actions taking place at Night. Each Day, a lynch will occur if one player has two or more votes, with no lynch occurring in the event of a tied vote. Each Night, the Traitors will be able to kill a player by using an Action. The game continues until either all the Traitors are dead (minus the HI), or the Traitors (minus the HI) equal or outnumber the living loyal crewmembers. The game will begin on Tuesday the 3rd of November at 8PM, GM's timezone (GMT). Days and Nights will both take 48 hours each. It will start on a Day Turn. Roles Head of Departments Crew Manifest Once again, if anyone new wants to sign up now, or someone wishes to drop out (whether due to time or how this has already gone, I will completely understand), or change anything about their character, just drop a line in this thread. I will need to have a new list of spectators. But if you are content with your current character and everything, there's no need for you to post anything. I have made a few changes to the Rules. The big one, the win condition is 'normal': Eliminators (minus the HI) have to outnumber or equal the crew in order to lynch the Captain. When this game was first made, the metagame was very different, in that it was unfathomable that we could ever have a first day without a lynch. This is not true now, so this rule has been changed. Forgers can now only bestow temporary effects. Roles that are Forged onto a player now last two Cycles. After that, the Forged Role disappears from the game, and the player regains their old Role. If the player dies while Forged, their original Role is added to the Forging list. The player does not count as their old Role while forged, for things such as the Hemalurgic Intelligence, and shows up as their Forged Role if scanned. Kandra are now able to check Role or Alignment. Originally they could only find Alignments, and this was alright because it gave the Eliminators an obvious Role to overwrite if on their side, and if the Village got there quick enough, it was a way to reward the Villagers. With this change, they are now far more useful for the Eliminators, while basically having no change for the Village. Small thing, but the game's rollover is now at 8PM instead of 9 PM. This works a little better for me, usually. The primary change is the first of those, but I thought I might take the opportunity to tune up a few things that appeared to be a bit strong or weak as well.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Night Shift 1: When Everything Changes Captain's Journal, 29/01/513 AK, Night Shift ...So, the Village kind of forgot that the Eliminators just needed to lynch the Captain to win. When they talked themselves into a no-vote, it gave the Eliminators a perfect chance to sweep in and take it. I have obtained permission to re-run this game. I will be making a few minor changes, mostly limited to removing this win condition and replacing it with the more traditional one, and then it will start again on Tuesday at 8PM GMT (47 hours from now). The reason I'm doing this isn't just because of this situation, but because I have decided that it's a little too easy when the Eliminators have perfect communications in general. I will assume everyone who is currently in will still be playing, but please tell me if you wish to drop out. I will also accept new sign-ups during this time. I will be posting a new thread imminently. If you're curious, with a Feruchemist involved, that was 4 votes on the Captain. The next highest number of votes on a player was 1. The Eliminators were: IrulelikeSTINK, Kipper, Alvron, The Honey Badger, Adavantos and Dowanx.- 1686 replies

Generation 4: Turn 4 "Magnificent! This is just the place I was looking for." "...My Lady... It's a just a lot of trees and some dirt." "Yes, but it's dirt with opportunity," Gracia Heatherlocke said with a smile as she surveyed the lands of the southern isle. "Untouched and ripe for exploitation. Who knows what we could find in this deserted place?" "But what if we don't find anything?" the Captain of her ship asked. "What if the reason it is untouched and has not been exploited is because there is nothing to exploit?" Gracia shrugged. "It's still land. Even if there's nothing here, we can still pack some people in and put them to use. I'm sure something must grow in this inhospitable place. At the very least, the trees seem to be thriving here." "That's true," the Captain nodded. "And considering it is an island, it would perhaps be a good place to put some malcontents. Nothing better as prisons go than a natural one. Not like they can swim back, either." "Precisely. Anything else we achieve here is a bonus." Vin Orielle finished signing her name upon the sheet of paper with a flourish and replaced the quill in its inkwell. She read it once over and, satisfied with how it read, blotted it down before rolling it up and tying a ribbon around it. She passed it to a servant. "I want copies of this made and sent to every Great House in the city, exactly like this." "My lady? Would some not find this... strange? You have, after all, not been noted for being active in the affairs of the realm." "It's just a little fun," Lady Orielle shrugged. "I'm sure that no-one would begrudge me that. Besides, I'm sure everyone will be interested in finding out which House lays claim to being the 'strongest'. We can simply make more of an event of it while finding that out." Lady Tamsa Wilson was awoken at the crack of dawn by a knocking on the door to the family bedroom. She sat up, her husband slowly rising as well next to her to see what the commotion was about. One of her Mistborn stood at attention in the doorway, uniform slightly torn but still looking fairly smart. "My Lady," he said, averting his gaze despite the fact that the pair of them were both more-or-less modest. "I am here to inform you of an attack upon our guardsmen." "Yes, and?" Lady Wilson asked. "I hope there is a point to your waking of us? Are we in danger still from these attackers?" "No, My Lady. We were successful in driving them off, even if they did kill a few guards first. I just thought that-" "Then we do not care anymore. Let us sleep." Lord Wilson said, before turning over in bed. "I... As you wish, My Lord," the Mistborn nodded, before withdrawing and leaving them Lord and Lady to sleep. Generation 4, Turn 4 has begun! The Turn, and the Generation, will end on Saturday the 7th at 6PM GMT. There will be a series of war games this Turn! Players may choose to take part in a variety of combat exercises to see who appears to have the strongest military. Note that this is a test of soldiers, not of Allomancers. This does not require an Action. Generation 4 Player List

I have an Izzet deck (with some white in it), and I would actually say keep the Turn//Burns, with the current deck at least. They are basically your only reach against creatures with high Toughness. I think that if your plan is to kill your opponent quickly though, the deck needs a little fiddling with to make it quicker on the creature side. I would suggest removing Skullcrack from the deck unless you are seriously in need of preventing Lifegain. Its inability to hit Creatures prevents it from being versatile, so it can end up basically being a dead card in your hand. But you've got Leyline of Punishment in the sideboard, so I'd just remove them from the deck, as they don't add much, if anything. If you can get some, I'd suggest adding in a few copies of Electrolyze - a great card which deals damage, can kill two creatures, and replaces itself. I would also potentially swapping out the Fluxcharger and Gelectrodes for a few different creatures, possibly ones with Prowess, unless you are really making use of the pinging aspect of Gelectrode. The deck looks like an aggro deck, with its low CMC, but the creatures you've got in it make it look more mid-range. I think you're also better off using Prowess creatures than Kiln Fiend or Nivix Cyclopes. Monastery Swiftspear is a great card, and almost as offensive as Kiln Fiend, but it improves its Toughness too so it doesn't get killed by a 1/2-drop all the time. If you are in need of draw, I think Jhessian Infiltraitor's pretty good, as it does that and has Prowess too. Bit more expensive, but Abbot of Kheral Keep is also a good creature for a deck like this. You're also running 65 cards, which is never good. I'd remove 5 cards, of which I'd suggest two are Lands. You don't need to run 24 in a deck that has this low a mana curve. The Boilerworks probably slow you down quite a bit as well, and should probably just be replaced by Mountains. 7/12/3 would probably be around the right split for lands in this deck. Overall, I think it might be an idea to have a look at Modern burn decks, to see what they're playing. Obviously you don't want Goblin Guides or fetchlands or anything like that, but it can give you an idea of what competitive players are doing in burn decks. Khyrindor, one of my friends has a deck very similar to it, and it is pretty much a question of speed and removal. Enchantment removal can wreck a player's game in a deck like this, and boardwipes that aren't based on damage can just shut them down and make them have to start again entirely. But other than that, ramp is traditionally a mid-range strategy, and they get entirely shut down by lightning-fast aggro and by heavy control.

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It is just a little bit of storytelling, nothing more than that. Creccio: You may ask questions here or in a PM. Araris: The HI probably communicates with the crew over the ship's radio, or smaller communications devices. Adavantos: It is indeed possible for a Traitor to begin as a Hemalurgist, or for a Traitor to become a Hemalurgist at a later date. With regards to Forgers - If two Forgers apply the same role to different players, I flip a coin to see which succeeds. If it's different roles to the same player, I also flip to see which goes first and gets overwritten.- 1686 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Wyrmhero replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To be fair, I could just be magic in general. Are you saying that Inquisitors can't be magic? That sounds like skaa talk to me. (this space for rent) On serious terms, I really wouldn't count that as any sort of evidence for or against me. I admit time will be a little constrained like this, but at the same time, there was no way I was going to wait again in order to run a game. Actually, if a skaa could kill me, it'd be rather handy . My vote's still staying there on Winter, though. You don't get out of being seen as suspicious by admitting that you're suspicious >>. I would very much like to know why you say so many people stand out but aren't voting. This whole thing with Deathclutch and everything is just making me want to lynch one of them so we know more where the others stand, except for the fact that if the skaa were being smart, they wouldn't be on either side, or at least they would have ignored it after it started to get serious.- 755 replies

No worries. For what it's worth, for the newer players who aren't familiar with my GMing-style, if any questions get asked about the game Rules, even in the Traitor doc, I will be posting public clarifications, though I will not be saying who asked about them. Also, there are just about 24 hours before the mission begins, so if you're on the fence about signing up, you've got that long to decide .- 1686 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Wyrmhero replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Honestly, at this point my up-to-date list on everyone is 'I wouldn't trust a single one of you as far as I could throw you, with the possible exception of Karripimar'. And that's just because Kas was rather talkative before he had to quit for RL reasons. I have no strong feelings about this new incarnation of him. People I am specifically cautious about are basically just Winter, Deathscythe and somewhat you, but that's probably just lingering from a few Cycles ago. I'm not even sure what my reason for being suspicious of you was anymore, if I am perfectly honest. I would quite like to hear Kipper's reasoning for voting for Clanky, as well as whether there is any actual evidence Deathscythe has for Alfa being guilty without bringing up Role divisions.- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Wyrmhero replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
In a game like this, it is possible that Gamma has given the skaa a limited number of Steel. I don't think this is likely though, because I would have definitely expected them to make use of it on previous Nights. So I am running under the assumption that Orlok's death was just a misfire, however justifiable a misfire you might think it was.- 755 replies
