  1. The Yulars considered themselves to be an advanced species, the most so on Aerten. Magically advanced, they described a 'curse' as a negative enchantment that cannot be dispelled, except by the placer. So, when they found the simple spell to dispell any enchantment, including negative ones, they thought there were no more curses. They were wrong. Family Kilentall had a hereditary curse. So, when a cocky Sorcerer came over with the promise of healing, they thought they would finally be free. There is a reason it's still called a curse. Family Kilentall and Family Fatidicius were very close families, as the Fatidicius Family were the holders of the Book of Prophecy. The first archaeologist to discover The Prophet's Lair penned that book just before he died. He was the current eldest of the Fatidicius Family. The Family had been full of seers for generations before, the first of the Fatidicius being the very same King that was buried in the Prophet's Lair. Some believe his sight was what led him to be buried there. The Book of Prophecy spoke of the Eldest of the Fatidicius to be the first to break the curse. To survive it. The firstborn of the Fatidicius was my brother, Aiel. Shortly after his birth, I was adopted. Barely 1 year old, I was taken in by one of the most powerful Yular Families. Never have people stopped telling me how lucky I am. I knew I was lucky. Me and Aiel became fast friends, and despite him being told he should be higher than me, he always looked up to me. We were tight as can be. So when he came down with the curse, we all prayed for him, believing him to be the one who would survive. I cried when we buried him. But eventually, I pulled through. My best friend, Aiin, helped me through. One day, she showed up at my doorstep, soaked wet in the rain. She asked me to go to the prophet's cave with her. When she saw me, her face froze, like she had seen a ghost. While we were running to the cave, I heard her whisper something. "The Scar" When I came too, I was still really groggy. All I could hear were Aiin and The Prophet talking. "Please. You have to save her!" Aiin was holding something. A book. A big one. "As much as I respect you for stealling that..." The prophet said, face no longer Aiel's. The scar, however, remained. "Please!" Aiin begged, "The Book... It says that she wont survive if you don't help!" "No. The Book says she wont survive if you don't help. And any who enter my cave get the curse. It is just less hereditary than the natural born curse." "Did you make the curse? Every curse has a caster, after all." "There are many more worlds than this one, with many more magics than this one." "Are you saying the curse is otherworldly?" "Oh look, Jagel is waking up!" Aiin jumped up, and quickly rushed over too me, shaking me awake. I slowly rose up, sitting up straight. "Jagel! Are you okay?" She asked, fear in her voice. As she brushed my face, she whispered, "The Scar" "Hello, Eldest of Kilentall." The Prophet said, looking over. His face distorted, changing back to that of Aiel, "Do you prefer this face?" My stomach lurched as I muttered, "N-No. I prefer you to not use that face..." His face shifted back. "Well. How do you feel with your imminent doom?" "W-What?" He smiled, and Aiin's face looked suprised. "I told you not to tell him that!" "And I think that we should tell him how you stole The Book of Prophecy, read his death, and quickly came too me for help! And then discovered that all who enter the cave get the curse, although less strongly than those who get it through line of descent. In fact, they don't even get the scar! I mean, they can choose to tattoo it, but they usually don't even know about it!" I looked at the prophet. "You seem awfully talkative for a secretive prophet." "Well, as I said, you are about to, well, for lack of a better word, leave this realm forever." With that, my stomach lurched. What I had heard finally soaked in. I was going to die. I fell back onto the ground. "Jagel! Are you... Are you okay?" Aiin asked, fear in her voice. I realized that I wasn't just feeling suprised, I was also feeling groggy. As I fell unconscious, the Prophet said, "I hope your soul can survive longer than your brother's." Aiin yelled out, diving towards my body. "NO!" After I fell unconscious, the Prophet looked at Aiin, and said, "You too. Don't you want to save Jagel?" After that, Aiin also fell unconscious. "For what it's worth..." The Prophet whispered, "I really do want you two to survive."

  3. I have long been intimidated by this thread, as I am pretty sure many of the people here hate me, and felt out of place within all of the chaos going on here But I really, truly, am not okay.
  4. Alas. Well, let us continue on!

  6. 2 things. 1. That's not how evolution works. Evolution is, basically pavlog's dogs, but with mutations, species, and incredibly long lengths of time. If a mutation does well, there is more of it, it eventually becomes the dominant gene, oh look theres another mutation, hey now there are quite a few different genes and now it's a different species than it was before, isn't that interesting if you want to know more, I suggest looking (and actually looking, not trying to confirmation bias yourself (which isn't a jab against you, humans in general confirmation bias quite a lot, just making sure you aren't misreading my intentions)) for some online (or nearby bio teacher) info on evolution 2. That's not how statistics work. If you flip 100 coins, most likely, they will be 50-50. But they could be 100-0. That's just how statistics work. If it is statistically impossible, that means that it is realistic. The thing about prophecies is that... they're kinda vague... If you make a prophecy vague enough, then someone in the future who knows future events who is reading & believes in the prophecy, they will convince themselves it came through. I'm just saying, prophecies are a whole thing. I also personally choose to believe that if there was an omnipotent perfect god, they would not penalize non-believers, which is what you find 99.99999% of all christian gods (I say this because every single christian I have ever talked to has given me a different version of the story, and so in my opinion, they are each (even if mostly the same) at least slightly different gods. Of course, I am not trying to say that christianity is polythestic (thats a different arguement) nor am I trying to be offensive and I apologize if I am) do, in fact, do that, which I morally disagree with. I quite enjoy seeing these sorts of disscussions & participating in them, so keeping it in this thread would make me happy, please. Once again, I am sorry if I have offended you, @Verdance

  10. The Ancient Grikels, one of the oldest civilizations on Aerten, buried their most powerful dead in a cave. This was because they believed that the closer they were to the core of the Aerten, the closer they would be to the great flow of souls. Since then, the great flow of souls has been rigorously disproven by scientists. The same scientists who no longer even attempt to explain the Prophet’s cave. No Yular has ever made the connection. As per their beliefs, the Ancient Grikels buried their most powerful king in the deepest cave they could find. Later, professional grave robbers, aka archeologists, entered the tomb, and found the body, with a heartfelt note saying ‘Sorry for stealing your grave’ Later, it was discovered that ever sentient being with the concept of language could understand the words written on that note. A century after discovery, another archeologist left to explore the cave, and found it went even deeper. After sending that message back up, he went in. After he came out, he never spoke again. That all being said, Jagel had no idea what they were doing here. ”Cmon, Aiin! Why are we even going down here in the first place?” ”Jagel,” Aiin teased, “where’s your sense of adventure?” ”Aiin,” Jagel shot back, “where’s your sense of self-preservation?” Aiin smiled, which was nice. She didn’t do that often anymore. Almost immediately, her face darkened. ”Let’s just-Just keep on going.” Well now, this was strange. You never went into the prophet’s cave without a reason. So why couldn’t Janel remember hers? ”Wait.” Aiin tensed up. ”Aiin, let’s get out of here, this place is giving me the creeps.” Aiim didn’t respond, just staring ahead. ”Whatever, Aiin, I’m getting out off-“ Janel said, beginning to turn around ”When did the tunnel start changing color?” Jagel looked down at the floor, and noticed it wasn’t even rock anymore. Just… a bunch of red and purple lines. They almost looked like they were woven together. Jagel shook her head, snapping herself out of it. “We need to go!” Jagel exclaimed, turning around fully, but then she noticed- “Well well well. Been years since anyone decided to visit me, let alone someone as interesting as you two.” The way they came… was sealed by a wall. Janel slowly turned around, and saw Aiin looking straight back at her. Then they both turned to look at the strange voice. “Jagelgar of family Kilentall. Aiinafar of family Fatidicius. Can’t have someone as interesting as you two leaving, can I?” When Jagel looked at the owner of the voice, no, when Jagel looked at the prophet, the prophet looked just like Jagel’s brother, Aiel. The same brother who died from the curse just a year ago. The same one who had a patterned scar on his head because of his curse. The scar, that if tattooed or other wise added to the skin without having had the curse would kill them. No exceptions. A society once saw a god fall from the sky and burn up death in a city because he tried to tattoo it on his face. And so, in the shock of everything, Jagel fainted. End of Part 1

  13. Well the site is generally divided into 2 sections. The Community, and the Very Very Very Smart People Who Have Theories In the communities will have Roleplays (Roleplaying games with no structure and only plot), forum games, and just general chatting or smaller communities (like where you can become your own radiant in the Let's Be Radiant thread in Social Groups, Clans, and Guilds). In the Very Very Very Smart People Who Have Theories, you will see people like @Treamayne, shard of WoBs (Words of Brandon, people ask Brandon questions and he answers them) and other people who are posting theories or questions that you can debate with and help understand. There are plenty of subforums and forums in each, as they are just general categories, but those are the general categories, and you will see similar people frequenting each (Like, aformentioned Treamayne you may never see in communities, and very rarely see me or some other sharders in Very Very Very Smart People (as we are less smart)). You will also find new sharders originally frequent Smart People and then slowly fall down to Communities, while still occasionally popping in.

  15. I am genuinely so sorry that what I said came across rude/insensitive, I geniunely did not understand that what I was doing was in any way that, and I was merely attempting to make a small joke, and I now realize that the joke got out of hand and/or was never funny in the first place, and I sincerely promise to not joke around like that with your religion again. I was not in any way attempting to make fun of a belief, and I now realize that my joke was poking fun at something near and dear to you, and I should not have poked fun at it.

  18. Guys im tired and frustrated and I hate my english teacher, but shes not even the worst one, and I dont have my life together and I treasure my time at school because when I get home I can't even hang out with my friends because I am to busy procrastinating, feeling guilty & beating myself up about procrastinating my AP class and the essay I just finished in 2 hours and my bio homework and I am not okay

And I can't help myself from procrastination, and I feel guilty about doing it, but I cannot stop myself from doing it, and I hate myself and my APHuG test is coming up and I am also procrastinating, and I can't even hang out with my soulless friends who even with all their emotional ineptitude cheer me up with just a little bit of joy but I can't even do it because I need help and I am not okay
