    Does a child love their mother or father because they're their parent, or because they cared for them when they were young and unable to care for themself? Some people have terrible relationships with their parents, but still love them. I'd posit that a child loves their parents' for what they are. Maybe what they embody? Ach, you've gotten me all philosophical now.
