Aluminum isn't the best metal for this because it doesn't appear naturally. A mistborn cannot burn the aluminum present in rubies, for example. If it was copper, gold, or silver, then it could be possible. Has it been confirmed that eating the metal connects you to it allows you to burn it?

Probably unpopular opinion about WaT sample chapters
Wanguu replied to Vin(Diesel)'s topic in Stormlight Archive
They returned because their goal was accomplished, no? It seemed that in RoW that the outworlders didn't want to talk to them. Most of the people couldn't even enter the town; they weren't welcome there, and the windrunners had arrived to bring them back anyways. Shallan and Adolin are important, someone else can talk to the outworlders if they'll listen. What other chances does it ruin? Because Szeth asked to go on his crusade. Dalinar could've ordered Szeth to go fight in the shattered plains, but he is honorable (as seen when he gave The Mink forces to take back Herdaz, something which wasn't really a great idea) and he wouldn't say no to Szeth. Since Dalinar is planning to be his own champion, he doesn't need Szeth/Kaladin in Urithiru to fight. You also know why they can't send a large force - they don't have the men. They need to protect what they already have. They need to know what is going on in Shinovar before the contest so they can try to have more land on Honor's side. Kaladin already expressed that he doesn't wish to fight again - he says so at the end of Rythm of War. And two men against an unmade? Shallan essentially defeated the Midnight Mother herself - and Szeth and Kaladin are more capable now than she was then. Nighblood itself could probably defeat an unmade. ---- I feel that many of the complaints that people have right now would be assuaged if they re-read rhythm of war. I missed SO MUCH of the book on my first read - it is absolutely worth a re-read. People hate the science portions; they're not as much of the book as you remember. -

In RoW Shallan and Adolin's story (pretty much) ended in part 4. The other two main stories, Kaladin and Navani, ended at the same time because they were fundamentally the same struggle. I think RoW probably had the best pacing from endings, besides maybe The Way of Kings. Dalinar's part in the end is very small, mostly just the Ishar chapter, but that was something that was good to be kept to the end because of a hook. Otherwise, the Dalinar chapters were half about intervening with Kaladin. And everyone returning to Urithiru only makes sense, why do you consider it unnatural? Most of the characters were either already there or trying to get back. Adolin and Shallan didn't even know the tower was occupied. -
I think it would be a little narratively unfortunate / ironic for Renarin and Rlain if Shallan gets an enlightened spren through Testament - I think it's more likely that Renarin and Rlain don't do all that much in this book, and more of the enlightened stuff / 'voidbinding' for the second half. It seems more likely to me that Shallan and Adolin together explore the two halves of a broken radiant bond, and with the Ba-Ado-Mishram stuff, figures out a solution to it.

Didn't Jasnah return in the middle of nowhere? Was it a perpindicularity, or just a spot where the cognitive and physical realm are in the same spot? If Shallan can go into the physical realm, then what is the point of transportation??
-
This made me thing that there's more to the surge of transportation than simply just going between the cognitive / physical, otherwise it would be weird to just give a character a third surge. The only other thing I could think of is that Shallan can go into the cognitive, but not back.

To be fair, the three main people are probably the most important to escape. They are the ghostbloods. Holding a meeting in the shattered plains was really risky, and it seems they were already looking for evidence of lightweavers. Considering what Mraize / Iyatil know, I WOULD NOT count them out. Maybe down for a bit, but this really is the first major defeat that the ghostbloods have been handed in a while (I think). Shallan helped then in WoR, Oathbringer, and RoW - and as we saw in the interludes, her defection didn't affect them anyways. The Ghostbloods aren't the Sons of Honor.
-
Do we know if Gavilar knew how it was made? Or just that Vasher/Zahel simply gave Gavilar the anti-sphere?
-
This is a good point. If it's anything like Jasnah has described, it's much easier to enter the cognitive realm then it is to leave (as to why, I'm not exactly sure). My guess is that something goes on with the Contest that has something like the Everstorm cover everything. I believe that Ulim states that it is hard to get to Braize because of the everstorm sitting in the cognitive realm (could be wrong here)

One thing that confounds me is how they have anti-investiture already - It was discovered what, three days ago? and it needs a super-complicated vacuum tube. I don't know how you source that in a few days. The only thing that makes it easier is that you don't need to sing any tones to manufacture the anti-light, just the plate. Either way, I think the point of this Ghostbloods arc is to show what they really are - a powerful group, sure - but a group of individuals who all have their own ideas and plans for the future of the organization. Felt, Iyatil, and Mraize have different plans. They're not the Diagram with one central plan. I think that Day Three onward will have Shallan going to find Ba-Ado-Mishram, with Mraize coming after her, and that the Mraize plotline will end this book. I think Iyatil will stick around for the second half, but not Mraize, considering that Shallan has foiled his plans for the most part.
-
It's very odd to me that anti-stormlight will annihiliate with any investiture. You can't cancel the sound waves of a B+ with a F#; they would just add together like normal. We saw in RoW that Stormlight and Voidlight don't really mix or do anything when put together until the appropriate rhythm (a harmony, containing both tones) is present to be the emulsifier, as Navani loved to say. Considering that anti-voidlight was made with the same tone, just with the intent for it to be anti'd, I feel that anti-voidlight should do nothing to stormlight. (Can anyone quote the relevant passages from RoW?)
-
We've seen that the illusions are like gaseous stormlight, so my guess is that where it hits there would be a flash of light and it would destabilize the illusion. It probably wouldn't use much anti-light.
-
Is it possible that it is Trellium? I know Trellium pushes away investiture, maybe it attracts anti-investiture? I believe that it would also annihilate a Herald in a similar way. Radiants are people, while Fused are cognitive shadows, no?

An idea for the missing Odium + Cultivation Intent
Wanguu replied to coolsnow7's topic in Cosmere Discussion
One of the main issues with Odium is that it is divine emotions (particularly anger, it seems) without anything to balance it - it is possible that we're leaning too far into the anger part of it. Or, maybe it needs something like Mercy, Devotion, or Endowment.- 26 replies

Yeah I agree, I don't see why Lift would work with them. They're probably too boring and slow for her. Be careful, Lift might eat it before you can!

I was thinking along this line too WaT spoilers

Thanks! Besides Stormlight 5, perhaps the Elantris sequels? I think Elantris is underrated within the community and I'm very interested to see what happens next. The only good thing about the sequels coming out so much later is that Sanderson's writing as improved so much!

Thank you! That's such a difficult question. It might be pattern, because he's so fun to read! Maybe F Duralumin to really easily make friends (and be left alone when I need it), F Zinc to make work, world building, etc. easier, or A Tin because I have pretty horrible eyesight. If I was a twinborn, I'd probably want A Pewter and F gold for the boost to my health because I'm sick so often

"For the power of a *** to resent you"
Wanguu replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think that people misconstrue Honor with laws; A Windrunner has access to Honor's Truest Surge, while a Skybreaker does not. An Edgedancer has access to Cultivation's truest surge (unconfirmed, I think?), but I would consider Edgedancers just as honorable as the rest. Laws don't make Honor, the things that bind people together and staying true to them make Honor. When Dalinar manipulates connection using Honor's Truest Surge, he is manipulating the very bonds that hold people together. One person, alone, cannot be honorable. Honor requires multiple people, interacting. -
Thank you! And maybe. What is this, a forum dedicated to looking too closely into text? Haha
-
Hello! Thank you! Materials. I work with the things that things are made of, essentially. This is really hard! Probably the unmade, but that's cheating

Hi, I'm Wanguu or Cole, and I use he/him pronouns. I am a lover of the cosmere. I read mistborn in 2021 and loved it. I was introduced to The Way of Kings by my then roommate, and ever since then it has taken up at least 16% of my brain space. The other percentages are devoted to materials science and engineering (ask me about it!), other book, video games, and endless amount of worldbuilding. I've read every cosmere novel and the Skyward series. I have had a hard time deciding if I am an edgedancer or a willshaper - the quiz says I'm a windrunner foremost, but I don't believe it - but either way, I am here for other people, and to LEARN! I do believe that if I was in the cosmere, I would be an ardent artifabrian, and considering my current line of work, finding a way to make fabrials work at high temperatures.

I've always believed that people debate and revile Moash so much because he is so real. What Moash did makes sense to give in to your giref, pain, and move on. It's why Teft returns to the firemoss. You are far more likely to meet a Moash in your life than a Kaladin

Ahh, don't worry, that was a " yay, someone else had this thought!" hey, but here's the link to the comment. I would think that if the Ghostbloods had access to Chanarach, they wouldn't need Kelek, right? And it's possible the money come's from her father working with the ghostbloods, while her mother was definitely working with the skybreakers [citation needed]
-
Heyy, I predicted this too. But as I said previously; wasn't Shallan's mom seemingly enemies with the ghostbloods?
