  1. Yes. I’m glad I noticed - after the first incident I have a decision-making program ensuring nobody undeserving of incineration gets exploded. “Your frustration with our respective stubbornness is understandable. We’re alike, in a few ways. But Malan telling me to kill you is exactly what I plan on exploiting. I’ll refuse unless he will give me Nullite to fight myself, but say I’ll take a job for him afterwards. I can even hint that if I lose the Nullite I’m instantly wiped from reality as soon as I notice me.”
  2. Just in case; I am very difficult to steal from. Bat, though has had his bag stolen at least three times; I had to manually override the beacon to stop it from exploding.
  3. Cole frowns, comparing the knight’s weaponry to his own. “I’m already dead, so that won’t work.”
  4. “Yes, but anyone who could capture Tam is far too powerful to be near Malan without being trusted. Someone who can simply hack all of the devices you use, though… I think you, or someone who is disguised as you, make better bait. Again, if you don’t like being bait, you can say so - that’s probably a more valid objection anyway.” Yes, it’s a helpful feature, though they usually only self-destruct when they’ve been stolen.
  5. “Why would I do that? I’m not crazy anymore - I won’t kill for you, or anyone else.”
  6. Rebus smiles, telepathically saying, And that is why I put a kill switch in the teleportation beacon I gave him earlier. “Interesting… the only issue is that we already know all his plans. Regardless, I can bring you there, say I’ll kill you if he will hire you but let you loose if he won’t, and play up Rebel’s controllability. This man thought he could brainwash Tam; he shouldn’t be that difficult to fool, as long as we play into his biases.” “That could actually work… not actually dead, of course. I fed Believed Dead to the rabbit, but we can probably bring it back.”
  7. RAFO! There might maybe be like four of them… I think I’ll keep it that way, though I will have some plans that involve you. That way even if some of my twists are obvious, some can catch everyone uninvolved by surprise.
  8. “Two things. A, Malan has never met Rebel, and B, I can flawlessly be Rebel, because I have his personality through several methods. If you don’t want to be the one captured you can just say so.”
  9. I suppose it is rather obvious. It will be epic, though. Who knows, maybe Rebus has another layer of plans…
  10. Malan? If you recall, anyone you teach now gains power rapidly. Though I suppose if we do manage to mess with his senses, he could be a powerful but expendable warrior.
  11. Yeah, I think so. I don’t remember which one, and the illusions thing was a spoiler anyway. Imagine if that villain had instead been opposed by someone like Thor. “I’m unsure. That’s why I’m going to send out a warrant, because even if he already does, I need Rebel caught.” You probably can, though I cannot think of a specific task for you to do. Other than the ash, do you have any powers?
  12. Hmmm. Rebus is indeed quite cool, and I like his plans being this complex. His goal is to be cool, which is why he is.
  13. “Yes, that’s the brilliant thing. The Notblade gives you control of the senses of whoever you strike. There’s a spider-man movie I could show you that exemplifies how devastating that is.” He grins. “One touch from the Notblade and we control what Malan sees. We control what he sees, we control what he does. We control what he does, and we’ve completely and utterly defeated him.” “Perhaps. That’s why I will impersonate Rebel, the clone of me that is currently trying to reach Onyx’s Realm and safeguard one of the actually problematic Plotblades in the vault. It also makes me less of a threat, and supposedly easier to control.”
  14. Rebus is… interesting. One of the strangest characters I’ve ever written, in that he knows he’s a character and is intentionally trying to be as interesting to write as possible. Also, there’s this statement here: I think it sums up a lot of things about how Rebus makes plans.
  15. “That could be useful, perhaps. My plan was to have me capture Malevolence and bring him to Malan. Of course, Malevolence wouldn’t be actually captured, and it potentially wouldn’t even be Malevolence. I’d either take Bat’s Notblade, or teleport Bat to me as a surprise attack. One touch with it, we win. Otherwise, we get a climatic battle. If somehow neither circumstance plays out, we can get a teleportation beacon on Malan’s person, then either go to him or bring him to us.”
  16. “That was why I suggested it. Is that acceptable, Malevolence? I can bring you back to life if needed.” @NameIess Rebus ignores Bacon’s outrage. “Because I’m running away from me, and even with the Plotblade I’ll eventually figure out how to Narrate Rebel out of existence.” He shrugs. “That was meant for your Author, regardless. Responsible was perhaps the wrong word. I meant something closer to helpful.”
  17. “Malevolence, or someone I pretend to falsely believe is him. I have the technical capacity to shut down most of his devices, and he really cannot stand against a determined Narrator regardless.”
  18. Rebus grimaces as well. “I found it; Malan wanted to brainwash Tam. I’ll need to fein some desire that Malan could grant so he believes he could control me, I suspect.” He grins, suddenly. “I’ve thought of some bait that you’d consider more reasonable.”
  19. “Alright. What did Malan want from Tam, anyway? If he wanted a pet Narrator, I would qualify.” Edit @Through The Living Glass: “I think I can get an in-person meeting; Malevolence did, if I recall correctly.”
  20. “I would be willing to act as bait, or approach Malan under the premise of an alliance.” Rebus shrugs. “I’m quite difficult to kill, and probably the Narrator best suited to go up against an Ennuller.”
  21. Rebus nods. “Great. We’ll get Malevolence a beacon that will bring you to him.” Rebus’s utility fog constructs one, and he tosses it to Malevolence ( @NameIess). “Yes, we unfortunately will. The Notblade, though, will end the fight effectively as soon as it begins.”
  22. Rebus smiles back at Bat. “Alright, how do we get you close enough? You know how to use it, correct?” Rebus waves vaguely towards the woods. “Cricket went off to throw knives at trees, and Rose followed him.”
  23. “The one that lets you fully manipulate the senses of whoever you can strike with it, of course.” Rebus grins. “Touch Malan with it, and he loses.”
  24. “No, actually. We have a much more interesting blade to use…” Rebus smiles broadly. @Halcyon The Only
  25. Rebus walks over, taking interest in the planning. “I have a few things to contribute, namely some resources we have access to that you’ve apparently forgotten about.”
