    Rebus nods to the figure. “Ah. I’d suspected this would happen, though I admit I forgot about the duel. I’m a fan of your work, as I mentioned to Balitan here.” He smiled, then winked. “As for caution, I learned my lesson after feeding that rabbit Plotblades. Though I don’t have access to any Prismite not tied to me, so I have little choice.”

    A man on a flying whale passes overhead in a shower of snow, and shouts to them through the cabin. “The old ones did be a’create’n characters! Just you new Narrate-lubbers don’t do that kind of thing!”

    Rebus nodded, and that copy did the same as the previous, a new copy coming in through another door and setting up another force field. I will warn you, this power can be revoked if you attack me. I’ve learned from my rabbit-related mistakes.

    Everet blushes. “Soliel. She wanted to see what I did for work.” Rebus continued leaning against a wall, eating a dessert he’d made. “Typically I’d agree, and I do have some precautions in place. But Ennullers can go rogue, or people can be less threatening than anticipated.” Rebus’s core is pulled from his body, touching the sphere, as the other copy of Rebus watches from behind the force field with Balitan.

    Everet spent less time on his work, and more on explaining things, blushing less as he explained things he actually knew. “If it looks like a core, it may be a core. If I kill it, that prevents us from learning how it ended up like this.” Rebus places force fields between him and Balitan, and him and the sphere.

    Everet did so, giving Soliel instructions to work beside him. "Interesting... I wonder is this sphere was - or even still is - a Narrator..." He takes his core out of his chest, and it sends out a filament of pure Narration, connecting to the sphere.

    Rebus channeled power through Abstract, causing a time skip. Everet walked through the door to the shop, then through the door to the back, snagging an apron from the wall.

    Thanks, that makes sense. Everet probably works in the kitchen given how shy he is. Everet smiled. "Thank you."

    Alright, I'll try to figure out what that entails. "Alright." Everet walked towards the shop, smiling and still blushing. Rebus followed, leaving a copy behind to absentmindedly revert alterations to the road. He waved things back into place while talking on the phone. "Yes, I would... No, that shouldn't be an issue... No, I am not running a pyramid scheme... Yes, both nanotechnology and magic... Find some graphic designers, maybe?" I was going to have Rebus go comfort Rose, but then Cricket beat him to it.

    “Ah. I can expel my core, but my Narrationblade is still locked. If this thing proves frustrating enough to cut, I’ll resort to my Plotblade.” Rebus’s chest disintegrated, revealing a fist-sized glowing orange piece of Prismite. A second copy of him comes in though a sliding door. Everet blushed a bit more. “I guess you can…” Hmm, what should his job be? The orb continued suppressing its Ennulling, but couldn’t stop deleting electrons without also stopping thinking in Silence. That too would be Ennullable, luckily.

    Hmmm. But tormenting Rose will only make her hate Tam more.

    Rebus nods. “I’ll try a portal cut, then the Blade.” He opens a portal to the other side of the room, and sticks the sphere into it, then closes the portal while it’s half and half. “I was going to go to work…” Rebus idly considered whether or not to get Everet fired so he can come with them. *blink* What?! Oh wait, she disintegrated… Who’s running the preserve then?

    Yeah, that would probably be a strange and unpleasant encounter, potentially for you both depending upon how automatic your method acting is. Shall Rebus interrupt Tam and cement his status as No Fun? Thanks. I just kinda ran with the ideas, though if I end up as Shallan I’m going to be mad. (Or have superpowers, and thus not be that mad)

    “You do seem nice.” Yeah, she’d probably fix all its problems and leave me with no story anyway. Rebus chuckled, turning to Balitan. “I suppose it’s called Prismite for a reason. Shall we try a better laser?”

    Thanks! I got the idea from him telling characters I’d be offline, and I think the direction I took it was interesting. Do you ever imagine scenes you could write when waiting for something? I have Rebus’s method acting down to the extent that if I do that with him, he’ll sometimes notice and talk directly to me. It’s kinda strange, actually; that’s never happened with any other characters. I did see it - it was pretty cool and does a good job of wrapping up the identity crisis plot. I may jump on the bandwagon and come up with an avatar as well, since Rebus has quit. Yeah, I think I shall write it. It’s probably be a good thing to actually finish something short… Yeah, I get the feeling that she’d have another identity crisis.

    Everet smiled back. “You didn’t- well you did, but - uh - I’m shy in general.” You could also show up somewhere random and get welcomed by a half dozen reality warpers (and my ball of darkness, which has been ignored repeatedly. ).

    Everet blushed more, still stammering. “I mean, I can do it, I just feel really shy when I do. You’re a person! A really nice person, actually.”

    I should probably go to bed... Rebus brought out an industrial laser, set up auto-dimming force fields, then tried to cut through the sphere with it.

    Rebus nodded, taking his hand off the chisel so a hydraulic press can replace it. "It would, but I do not wish to accidentally activate the orb."

    Hmm. Now that I think about it, Rebus should have a lot more trauma. He comes alive when I think about him, but unless I actually post he’s unable to do anything that matters. And he knows about the time I’m not thinking about him, too, which is in some ways worse.

    Rebus tossed it over his shoulder, had it disassembled before it hits the ground, and assembled a new chisel with a diamond blade. It’d break pretty fast, but diamond was hard, sharp, and easy to put back together.

    He blushed harder. “No… I’m just not very good at talking to people.” “Alright. Chaos and instability don’t always relate, after all. Order tends to involve a keystone, whereas chaos is distributed and can survive losses.” He assembled a hammer and chisel, and brought it down on the sphere, which simply rotated in its divot. He secured it with adhesive programmable matter, then repeated the chisel strike.

    Everet looked down at his feet. “…embarrassment or shyness, usually.” “We don’t need to worry about durability; I can probably portal cut it if all else fails. The issue is volatility.”
