It was about whether or not the axial precession (or "wobble" as i hear most often) of the Earth's rotational axis causes the seasons, and (after I proved to her that it was not the cause,) I argued that the wobble was not extreme enough to noticeably affect the seasons from year to year.
My mother argued that the wobble of the Earth's axis was what caused the seasons, and I argued that the wobble was not the reason we have seasons, but that because the Earths' axis is already 23.5 degrees away from being perpendicular to the orbital plane of the Earth around the sun, AS it orbits the sun, different areas of the surface are exposed to different amounts of light, and THAT is what causes the seasons.
The Earth's axial wobble completes one cycle every 26,000(-ish) YEARS, which is not enough to be noticeable every single year, especially considering that it only shifts by a single degree every seventy-two years.
My father just seemed entertained by the whole thing XD
