Shoe sighed. What was he going to do? He sat there quietly for a few minutes, trying to calm himself down and letting his mind drift. He listened to the waves; ran his fingers through the sand.
Then he got an idea.
It sickened him to even consider it at first, but he made himself keep thinking it through anyway-
-and . . . after a few minutes, it started to make a lot of sense. More sense than he was willing to admit.
He watched the sun begin to set on the horizon, and a feeling of finality came over him. It was both a good and a bad feeling. Hopeful and nauseating at the same time.
If only because he now knew what to do.
