The very first thing Tam noticed, when she came to, was the pain.
It was a sharp, constant, aching pain that shot through her body every time she dared to breathe- and it didn't help that she was feeling particularly weak, either.
The second was that she felt undeniably freezing. It was like someone had dug out her bones and replaced them with ice, and that she slowly freezing from the inside out because of it. She could barely feel her hands, though . . . they were submerged in water? Her feet were too, strangely enough. Weird.
And the third was that she was, somehow, actually still alive.
She tried to process what was happening, but didn't dare open her eyes yet. She honestly didn't know if she could, even if she'd wanted to, given how she felt. She took some painful, shuddering breaths instead, trying to gather her bearings a little.
