    "Yes, you can. Quite easily, actually." Glass stared back and menacingly raised the knife.

    Aerol eyed the jungle. "What do you think, bud?" Reef made a low cooing noise and tilted his head at the trees. "Yeah, me neither. But we need water and shelter." She rubbed his head softly. "Keep an eye out, yeah?" She started to walk towards the treeline, keenly alert of her surroundings.

    "Sure," she said, approaching the boar menacingly with a hunting knife.

    Aerol stepped into the shallow, warm water and pulled the kayak to shore. Reef took flight and circled her a few times before landing on her shoulder and biting her ear softly. "Ow," she said quietly. Reef began bobbing up and down again, and she chuckled. "Alright," she said to him, surveying the small island. @The Bookwyrm

    Aerol was paddling for the small island. She kept a keen eye on the ocean depths, even if she couldn't see them that well. Reef's head was darting back and forth; he was obviously doing the same.

    She put one of the packs on her back and the other in the front of the kayak. Her Aviar hopped over and perched himself on her knee. She rubbed his head and he made a contented noise, closing his eyes. "You ready?" Aerol asked him. He cooed and bounded back to the front of the kayak. After a few deep breaths, Aerol began paddling. She crossed over the colorful reef, watching the water get deeper and deeper. She thought for a moment. "Reef," she said quietly. "What about Reef?" Her Aviar just stared at her. "For your name." He began bobbing up and down after a moment. Aerol smiled, and she and Reef continued heading for the closest northern island.

    Shoe gave him a pumpkin-chocolate muffin, then continued spinning in the rain.

    "Another knife, food," she mumbled. ". . . a med kit, nice!" Her Aviar squawked and stuck it's head in the pack, curious. She moved him carefully out of the way and closed the first pack, opening the second. @The Bookwyrm

    "We don't know that," Glass countered. "And actually, the colder a climate gets, the less poisonous plants there are going to be. Mushrooms, too."

    Hmm. That's a little sketchy. She stopped a little bit before the reef, floating in the gentle waves. If I weren't so on edge, this would actually be quiet peaceful. She opened one of the packs and started rifling through it before she set off. @The Bookwyrm

    Well, that was easy. She set her crossbow in her kayak, and the other girl paddled away. Before anyone else could get there, she ran around the beach, grabbing as many crossbow bolts as she possibly could. She also grabbed another pack, because why not. She hopped on her kayak and headed north. Her aviar landed on the front of the kayak as she paddled. He didn't have a name.

    It was so long and so short

    So weird

    Isn't it funny how something can be long and short at the same time?

    Like it doesn't make any actual sense but we all know exactly what it means when someone says that

    I wonder if there's a person who doesn't know what everyone else is talking about when they say that

    Wouldn't that be crazy

    They just experience time as it happens and nothing feels faster or slower

    Actually I had a conversation about space and time relativity with a friend the other night and it blew her mind

    We saw some of the Starlink satellites a few minutes later

    Then we talked about space and stars and the galaxy and stuff

    Then we started talking about space and religion and people on other planets and how Jesus' atonement covers them too

    Which means they know more about us than we do about them

    Then I started wondering how technologically advanced they were

    And if they're more or less advanced than us

    And what the plants and animals are like there

    Then I started thinking about fictional plants and animals

    Then I started thinking about Brandon's fictional plants and animals

    Then SA

    Then WaT

    Then I was very excited for December

    Then I realized that September was almost over

    And how crazy that was

    Then I thought about how it felt so long and so short at the same time-

    "I could say the same to you!" Aerol noticed this. She carefully stooped down and threw some fishing gear into the kayak, keeping an eye on the other girl the whole time. "I don't want to kill you. Let's just both leave peacefully." She lowered her weapon slightly. Only slightly.
