  1. Great point, I had not considered about the rifling. As far as abrasion, that's fascinating. So even with abrasion applied the bullet would not travel as if in a vaccuum, in theory the the compression of the air in it's path would add some degree of drag even without friction?
  2. Anyone else wish Brandon would release an infographic about BEUs indicating how many BEUs roughly are in common invested items (i.e. how many BEUs of stormlight certain gemstones would likely hold) or how many BEUs of investiture burning a standard vial of specific metals? What about if you store half your weight for X amount of time? How many BEUs is that? How many BEUs in a single spore? How many BEUs in an honor spren, or a dead blade? Would be fascinating if Khriss included something like that in an Ars Arcanum. It will probably never happen because that would significantly limit his flexibility in writing and would require a lot of math to make work, but I am wondering if we'll hear it a lot more in the future cosmere stories or it was kind of a "one-off" for Sunlit Man and will be in the background in future stories but won't be such a centerpiece of the story an dialogue. What do you think?
  3. Maybe, if anything I think a Fullborn (or an army of them) would be Scadrial's ace in the hole in a certain interplanetary conflict but idk, that would definitely be a new scale of power compared to what we've seen actually used for the most part.
  4. I imagined them as large grained sand, but I could totally be off. They can't be that large if some are essentially used as gunpowder. As for the second part I'm sure that is possible, but I think the user would have to have them operate off set commands, I doubt they'd be able control them manually. Then again, I suppose it may.be different for an Aetherbound.
  5. I know, I don't disagree with your general point, just saying most Allomancers don't actually have steel sight. Btw, could you imagine an Awakener with access to spores. Fashion these little cotton pouches like tea bags, have little pieces of string dangling off them to act like legs and command them to try and scurry into the eye holes by any means necessary. A few crimson spores or zephyr spores and boom...their head is gone.
  6. OG Mistborn trilogy first on recommendation from my brother. Then Alloy of Law, Warbreaker, Way of Kings, Shadows of Self...etc I read in a weird order.
  7. Blue lines would only apply to Steelpushers, Steel Inquisitors or Mistborn though. A Pewterarm doesn't have steel sight.
  8. Sadly why I doubt we'll ever see another Fullborn on page...but I could be wrong.
  9. We've seen Wax amplify the speed and power of his shots in the past. How fast do you think a Fullborn sniper with a spike for abrasion could push a bullet? Imagine, they can increase their weight in the same manner as Wax, they could use a duralumin assisted steel push, and they could negate the friction imposed on the bullet completely. Any way to calculate roughly how fast they might be able to push a standard rifle bullet?
  10. Look dope so far, keep up the good work. I'll be interested to see the final product.
  11. Those turn out good enough you might need to start a business;)
  12. ...Odium is two entities...shard and vessel...hence we
  13. Yeah, I don't buy it will be Gavilar. What would that add but cheap shock value? Besides, as others have laid out far more eloquently than me...it just doesn't add up.
  14. In practice I don't really like collaborative stories between two authors unless the collaboration is only in the pre-writing process. But theoretically I'd love to read something Sanderson wrote after brainstorming with Neil Gaiman.
  15. Didn't even think about that
  16. Yeah, compounding would be useful. The point I was trying to make is F-Bendalloy alone should be almost as useful by itself. The ability to store the attribute and tap it as she wants is the most useful part. Essentially every Bendalloymine she had would be a powerful battery to fuel her Lifelight based powers. My comment was merely that Compounding made it more convenient, but she should still be able to store enough nutrition with just F-Bandalloy for most practical cases. All she would need to do is gorge everytime the opportunity presented itself.
  17. No, in the second instance the questioner says she is spiked with two spikes, A-Bendalloy and F-Bendalloy. She is eating, storing that food in a Bendalloymine, allomantically burning the Bendalloy mine to compound and then her body is converting the compounded nutrition into Lifelight. So yes, it is just turning one form of investiture into the other, but she is essentially using Bendalloy compounding to greatly enhance how much Lifelight she can produce from a given amount of food. Which, when you think about it is probably not that useful anyway (at least anymore-so than having Feruchemical Bendalloy by itself). Bendalloy seems like it would be fairly easy to store in day to day life, as long as you weren't in a situation where you went prolonged periods without access to food. She'd likely be almost as effective just gorging on food everytime she can and storing it. She's friends with enough people in high places that feasts shouldn't be THAT hard to come by.
  18. Nah, you can take more than one from the same magic system if you want. By unique I moreso meant you cant choose being a Mistborn and get 16 different abilities, you had to choose one...which you did
  19. I feel like maybe Brandon was missing the point slightly? What the questioner was suggesting was compounding. Yes, in a way it's just turning one form of investiture into another, but it's also multiplying the amount of Lifelight Lift could derive from a given food. That combined with the ability for her to gorge and store, then tap whenever she wants would be extremely useful.
  20. Got me thinking...if you gave Lift a Feruchemical Medallion would she be able to use Lifelight from eating to fuel/amplify the feruchemy provided by the Medallion?
  21. That's a sharp outfit, Chan. Careful. You could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea..., because it's so sharp.
  22. Welcome. If you could have any combination of 3 unique Cosmere magical abilities what would you choose?
  23. That is fair if we are defining compounding by the process, not the result that makes total sense. What I am proposing is a different process, but should provide the same results. The only difference is you're fueling it with pure investiture instead of Preservation specific investiture. In essence what I am proposing is compounding with fewer steps. Either way you are using external investiture to amplify your pool of X attribute. But, that is a fair distinction to say that compounding requires the input of more than one magic system to be considered compounding, it makes logical sense.
  24. I meant chocolate. We know that chocolate, or something extremely similar to it exists on Scadrial. Chocolate does not exist on Roshar to my knowledge. Chocolate chip waffles are my favorite, therefore I must submit Scadrial as my answer.
  25. Alright, so I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but a cursory search didn't turn up any threads I could find so I'm going to go ahead and throw this out there. So, the premise of feruchemical compounding is that it uses the end positive nature of allomancy to amplify feruchemically stored attributes. Typically this requires storing the attribute in a piece of the appropriate metal and then allomantically burning that metalmind and re-storing the power that comes out, which is greatly amplified from the amount of the attribute originally stored. Of course this requires someone to have the ability to allomantically burn the same metal they are capable of storing attributes in (i.e. Miles Hundredlives or TLR). What if there were a way around that limitation? Am I crazy?
