    The Greenspine growled, then inhaled to steal the Aviar's Investiture.

    The Greenspine lumbered behind. It was slower on land than in the water, but it could use its spores at any time now. Verdant vines shot out from its back and propelled themselves towards the fleeing tributes.

    The Greenspine growled as it crawled ashore for the first time, facing Murr and Maj. It was huge, the size of a schoolbus, with long, aqua-green spikes on its back, each connected by a row of strange, bioengineered plants. The monster roared.     The Greenspine finally left its den and began swimming towards the beach where Maj and Murr were, green spikes risings from the water.

    "Just... leave me alone." It refused to make any further reply to anything its hallucinations said, curling up in its den and shutting its damaged eyes. Perhaps the Gamemakers would be willing to Regrow that.

    The Greenspine swam to the bottom of the sea and crawled into its den, a small cave not filled with water. "YOU DON'T EXIST. NONE OF YOU EXIST."

    The Greenspine simply stared in shock, then dove underwater.

    "YOUR PAIN? I WILL MAKE YOU FEEL PAIN!" Hadn't the youth been talking about voices in his head?

    The Greenspine closed its mouth, the vines subsided, and all was calm once more. Then, a pang shot through the monster's head. And another. And another. The Greenspine screeched in pain as suddenly the voices of many rose in a chorus within its mind. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"

    The Greenspine pulls Berin towards its face with the vines, and the vines around Berin's mouth loosed, allowing him to speak again. "GOODBYE, YOUNG ONE." It opened its mouth wide. One of its fiery orange eyes trickled blood. @SpiritOfWrath

    The Greenspine shook with rage. "HOW DARE YOU? I WILL MAKE YOUR DEATH SO PAINFUL YOU WILL WISH YOU HAD SIMPLY GIVEN UP!" Vines wrapped around Berin's mouth, crawling inside, and bent his arms until they neared breaking.
