The Greenspine pokes its head out of the water nearby, "What the hell?" And leaves.

The Greenspine paused. "Good. That's good..." It slithered off into the sea, having finished with Maj, looking to find a new target.

"It was WEAK. Now, leave me alone, or I'll change my mind about sparing you."

Rye crawled into the darkest corner of the tavern and went to sleep.

"Dammit, I wish I still had that weapon cache in the graveyard," Rye swore to himself, "That would have been a huge help." As far as he knew, there weren't any other caches nearby.

"Understandable, I suppose," Rye said, walking off.

"Do... do you want it back? I suppose I can just go to the bank instead. If you want, I can get you some money too." Rye realized that he was really bad at this, and probably would have been better running away instead of trying to talk.

"That was how my predecessor died. I will not make the Redspine's mistakes again. I'm sorry."

"Sorry, I'm kinda broke right now," Rye mutters.

The Greenspine watched in surprise. "You were a worthy opponent, young one," it finally said. "But you were wrong on one thing. I am NOT the Gamemakers' monster. I belong to no one but myself. I will remember you... and remember how good you tasted." It looked up at Murr, who was presumably still watching from a nearby tree. @The Aspiring Archivist "You," the Greenspine said. "I have decided to spare you today, although not for long. I want you to spread the word to your fellow tributes. All shall fear me, and no one, not even the Gamemakers, is above my hunger." With that, it lifted Maj's body onto its back and stalked off to find a place where it could enjoy its meal.

"Of course not!" the Greenspine thinks. The Greenspine draws back its foot, and a flurry of vines catch Maj's blade.
