  1. Sigismund stuck his hand in, felt his hand be repelled by the familiar barrier, and cursed to himself. What if I used my watch on the barrier? But he knew that wouldn't work. His watch only worked on physical objects, and he couldn't get through anything remotely magic. Well, I can't go through, I can't go over, and I presumably can't go under. How about I skip forward a few years and see if anything has changed? Sigismund moved to wind his watch, intending to skip forward in time a year or two, but his hand wouldn't move. What? What's going on? "Don't be so hasty," a voice behind him said. Sigismund turned, letting his invisibility drop, to see an indescribable man standing on the roof near him. "Who are you?" asked Sigismund. "Can you help me get in here?" "That is not what I came here to do," replied the man. "That's a fine watch you have there, by the way." "You can thank the person who made it." Sigismund paused and studied the man. The maker of his watch, he remembered, had had the same indescribable nature about him. His eyes widened. "You..." he whispered. He hadn't seen the watchmaker in ten thousand years. "Don't worry, I haven't come to take it back," the watchmaker assured. "I did come to tell you about all the important events going on with your old friends. You're missing out, you know? Why are you even trying to get in here, anyway?" "Secrets. I can't stand knowing someone has a secret. I need to know... How does this Maker create beings like 17? And how does he create these forcefields?" "That kind of technology is commonplace where I come from," the watchmaker stated casually. "You're from another world?" asked Sigismund. "How do you travel between worlds? I've been trying to do that my whole life. Millennia spent researching and exploring. That's how I found out about the Cloud, and the viruses, and how they were the signs of the end of the world. Now they're here, and I still don't know how to get out of here. But you... You've done it!" The watchmaker smirked. "I'll take you back to the rest of the group. You can learn all of Lee Anders' secrets some other time, I promise you." He pulled out a simple compass, but Sigismund knew it was far from simple. The needle pointed back where Sigismund had come from. "Shall we?" Then, they were gone, and the villagers could rest easy once more.

  3. The Greenspine paces around at the bottom of the tree, carefully watching Squall as it considers its next move.

  6. "I see that you are rather carefree about your fate, so let's make it simple." It shot a vine at him. He kind of reminds me of you, Beren, it thought. @SpiritOfWrath Let's just hope I don't start hearing his voice too after we eat him.
  7. The Greenspine was not suited for swinging through the trees, so it dropped to the ground and started looking for the other tribute who was with Sharlin. @TheRavenHasLanded
  8. "I am the Greenspine, the greatest monster the Gamemakers have ever created! And you are my quarry!" It stepped up to the tree and started clawing at it. Then, a pair of verdant spore vines sprouted from its back and began to rise into the air, wrapping around branches, and steadily pulling the Greenspine up.
  9. The Greenspine jumps out of the cave and bares its teeth in front of Sharlin. "I think we can skip the introductions," it growls.
  10. They see a nearby cave that could be good to hide in.
