  1. Sazed actually used that to protect himself from potentially nasty falls, I believe.
  2. Brandon has tweeted about the fight scenes a little, and I'm super excited for them. And wouldn't it just be easier to use a normal gun? You're not going to want to always use Allomancy. And besides, it was also a metaphor for the change Wax is about to go through.
  3. Squirrel Nut Zippers for me!
  4. Gotta love those movers and shakers. I think you're actually just ahead of me in Name of the Wind, actually. XD Just barely.
  5. I would like to announce that I was actually productive in real life today. Go me!
  6. but actually didn't. Something wrong with your cache there?
  7. Who knows? Also, just watched The Illusionist. GOOD. FREAKING. MOVIE. <3
  8. We'll see about that. Hi, and welcome! It's good to have you here! If you need to know anything, please don't hesitate to ask. We don't bite, but we have been known to shanghai unsuspecting members before. And suspecting ones too, but that's beside the point.
  9. Brandon: The powers of Ruin and Preservation are Shards of Adonalsium, pieces of the power of creation itself. Allomancy, Hemalurgy, Feruchemy are manifestations of this power in mortal form, the ability to touch the powers of creation and use them. These metallic powers are how people's physical forms interpret the use of the Shard, though it's not the only possible way they could be interpreted or used. It's what the genetics and Realmatic interactions of Scadrial allow for, and has to do with the Spiritual, the Cognitive, and the Physical Realms. From the Brandonothology. Magic in the Cosmere comes from the Shards. That is how the magic works. Why would the Dor be any different?
  10. Brandon: It's theoretically possible for Atium to appear in the future, but right now Sazed has no plans to release any of it to the people. It is, effectively, now something of myth and legend. I also believe it is said somewhere - in the Mistborn annotations, perhaps - that Sazed changed the Allomantic powers back to their original state. I'm too lazy to find the quote, though. Anyways, really, atium is a tool for killing, which wouldn't really be useful when you're trying to rebuild society literally from the ground up. It's just not like Sazed to hand mankind a weapon when they need to be working together. Brandon: Preservation wanted Atium and Malatium to be of use to the people, as he recognized that it would be a very powerful tool--and that using it up could help defeat Ruin. But he also recognized that sixteen was a mythological important number, and felt it would make the best sign for his followers. So he took out the most unlikely (difficult to make and use) metals for his sign to his followers. All Brandon quotes were pulled from the Brandonothology.
  11. Three Shards have existed on Roshar, period. They are: Honor, Cultivation, and Odium. As to your other question, I'm not entirely sure. I don't think it's mentioned whether Odium is native to Roshar or not. I remember getting the feel that he isn't, but that could just be because of the reference to his trip to Sel. It's just as possible either way, I think.
  12. I can ever taste the imaginary numbers, though.
  13. I forgot all about bronze; that would definitely be useful for school. I have issues getting up as early as I need to, sometimes.
  14. Sazed returned Scadrial to its natural state after he ascended; Kelsier destroyed the crystals, but Sazed wiped the Pits off the face of the planet (unless he kept them, but the book didn't even come close to implying that). Besides, there really is no reason for atium to exist anymore. Its entire purpose was to hide Ruin's power from Ati, but now that Sazed holds both Shards, it's an absolutely unnecessary measure.
  15. A movie about a zombie that survives on pizza. It's.... a !
  16. Agreed. I'm currently listening to the soundtrack of The Princess and the Frog, myself.
  17. I would like to announce that I'm very glad the weekend is here. Phew.
  18. Yes. Very much so, and I'll thank you not to give me a headache right before bed, you rapscallion, you.
  19. There's a reason I ask you not to talk about math when I'm tired. Does this mean I have to be afraid to check the forums before bed now too? Thanks a lot, Eric.
  20. Yay RAM! I would like to announce that Discourse Analysis is a ridiculously awesome class. Today we talked about Nigerian money scams!
  21. Also, let's not forget that there's still one more Lerasium tablet out there. Besides, it's not like Allomancy would just vanish even if there weren't. Sazed made Spook a Mistborn, after all; he's clearly able to make people into Allomancers himself. As for Snapping, there's any number of ways that could happen. There are probably consensual beatings for those who are of the legal age to agree to it, various accidents and dangerous situations that could befall a person, or even the (presumably illegal) beating of children. Just because something is against the law doesn't mean some people won't still do it anyways.
  22. Holy crap, you guys. Awesome things are coming. You have no idea.

0.0 Lol. Ok. Good hint. Haha.

  23. That said, though, the timing worked out perfectly, and it ended up as a smash hit. I actually first heard of Brandon via Wheel of Time myself, and never even heard of Warbreaker until it was almost done because I had no idea he was doing that. I instead looked to his already published works, read sample chapters, and bought the books. By the time I knew about Wabreaker, it made more sense to wait for the book in hard copy. So that didn't actually work for everyone. On a sidenote, I was talking books with a classmate today and when I told him he could get a free, LEGAL copy of Warbreaker, he suddenly seemed a lot more interested in Brandon.
  24. And there are very likely other things (cities, religions, geographical features, whatever) that are named after other members of the gang. I think Elend is the perfect candidate to have a city named after him, though.
  25. Luthadel was completely and utterly destroyed at the end of Hero of Ages. Vin smashed it good, if memory serves, and its location is likely no longer habitable, like Eric said.
