That's a pretty cool idea, zas. But how would you explain Wax getting the impression that Harmony is "talking" (read: subtly giving sensations) to him? Copper isn't one of the metals Wax can use. Is he just wistfully imagining it?

I don't have any speakers (or headphones, today) on the computer I'm on so far, but the visuals appear cut rather well. There was one part where things seemed to cut a little too quickly, (~1:06-1:08), but as this was my first viewing, I just chalked it up to "Well, it doesn't look like there's any original footage, so the editor will have to be creative to make everything look like it fits. And that may include too-quick cuts." I'll check it out again when I get home and can listen to it, too. Well done.

Ah, thanks. And I now see the pertinent quotes in the MB2 epigraphs: "The other Worldbringers scoff at me, for they have their metalminds to prove to them that the books and prophecies have not changed." and "And whatever this power is, it can change words within a Feruchemist's metalmind." Thanks, Bobs.

I remember reading people commenting that Ruin could alter the data stored within Copperminds much like how he could edit anything written on paper, but I never got that impression when I was reading the books. What did I miss? I remember the talk of the arguments between Kwaan and the other Worldbringers about the prophecies, but I always figured that their prophecies were written on scrolls or kept in books. (I know, I know: they have Copperminds - why use 'books'? ) I just thought it was odd that Ruin couldn't see/modify anything etched into metal, but he could somehow edit the data stored within metal. If anyone could show me what I missed, I'd appreciate it.

@TheBobs: The Well getting louder as it approaches the time of its use makes sense. Vin with her earring couldn't hear the pulses in MB1, but she could, over time, in MB2. Same gear, same person, only other variable is time. Somewhere, I seem to recall a comment that anyone with any type of metal piercing their body could be influenced by Ruin, regardless of whether or not the piercing was hemalurgic. (For some reason, that thought is connected with Zane in my mind.) If that's the case, then that would make it easier for Ruin to have manipulated people before the Final Empire regardless of how well- or not-well-known hemalurgy was, and it would also allow Harmony to "talk" to followers of the Path. Hemalurgic spikes are only made by killing a living being in a specific way. Doing so draws an ability out of the thing being killed and into the spike, and the spike, when inserted into another entity, grants that stolen power to the new entity. Now, could it be possible that there's a way to create a "blank" spike that would slowly drain an ability from someone? Maybe. We've been told that the Lord Ruler didn't have time to learn all the ins and outs of hemalurgy while he was holding the Well's power, so there might be something like that. I personally find it doubtful, though.

Well, Kelsier was always impressed with how strong Vin's allomancy was, so apparently there's differences between strengths of abilities. There's nothing that says Alendi wasn't an unusually strong allomancer. (And for some reason, my mind is making me think that there was a reference somewhere to Alendi having earrings, so it's possible that Ruin could have given Alendi a Bronze spike in much the same way that he gave Vin one.)

In case anyone is typing the domain name manually, (for checking out other stuff), it's singular, not plural: inkwing.com (The plural appears to be something completely different.)

True, about the love thing. Though any "halfbreeds" pre-Final Empire would be incredibly rare compared to the number of them post-Final Empire. Re. the Deepness Snapping Alendi, that's an interesting thought, but brings other things to mind. If Alendi was the first allomancer, the predisposition for allomancy would still have had to exist (though dormant) in humanity beforehand, otherwise Ruin wouldn't have been able to engineer the events that eventually led to Alendi making his way to the Well of Ascension. (Rashek, of course, was not part of Ruin's plan. Since Preservation seems to have had better prescience than Ruin, Rashek was probably not just a wild card. Or, rather, his uncle; Kwaan was probably part of Preservation's plan, and we all know what Kwaan ended up doing.) And then Ruin would also have had to know that Alendi was a Bronze Misting, too, or else he would have failed by setting Alendi up for all that. I think it's simpler to assume that Mistings had been around for a while before Alendi, as that would have allowed Ruin to plan things out more easily. (We know that Ruin was very patient and very calculating.)

What books would you give to the various ajahs, if you could? I'd probably give Gray's Anatomy and other medical texts to the Yellows, various science books to the Browns, and The Art of War and other strategy/tactics books to the Greens. Or, if you wouldn't give books, what else would you give?

That is very awesome, Cuaiir. Very. And it's a lot simpler than what was running through my head with cardboard wheels as the setup. A Flash application would probably be the best thing to use, yes, Argent. Sun's current zaniness aside, Flash seems more universal. (I have no idea if it's easier to program, or if it's less systems-intensive, than Java, so I can't comment about that.) I think I may try to design some art for it, to fancy it up a bit. Try to match Isaac's stuff in the books, make it look in-world. (Which makes me think of an alternate skin: instead of using text, use the symbols.)

Doubtful. The Terris people, according to Alendi's notes, seemed to be pretty insular, living their own lives and dealing with outsiders only when they came to visit. I would honestly be surprised if there were any interbreeding between people from Terris and other lands. And we know that allomancy existed before the Lord Ruler, as Alendi was a Seeker.

I tried looking for the citation, since I was pretty sure that they are dead by the time of the book, but I couldn't find a reference in the wiki. Once someone more familiar with the nooks and crannies around here finds the source, I think I may update those pages to link to it.

I mean, it's cool and all to see that many names, but dang! o.O

... ... Dag nabbit. That is a cool idea. Too cool. I think I may have to try to figure out a way to do that. >.<#

If you want it to fit in-world a littler better than a standard 16x16 grid, you could try to implement the circles-mapping of the allomantic metals.

Just for clarification, by "header" you mean "Subject line", correct? I'd hate to think that I need to find ways to spoof the headers in order to enter this contest. :-/

Heh. Well, it's one thing to have, say, Joey Q "write" Spiderman or Frank Miller write Batman, versus someone finishing something based off of someone else's notes. I'd probably put these last three WoT books in a similar category with most anything Christopher Tolkien released based upon JRRT's notes. Yes, there's spackling paste in the cracks that needed filling in, but the majority/important bits of the structure are still by the original craftsman.

He even had fight scenes in Buffy, too, didn't he? That's not bad. Not bad at all. I think he's a little too short, but that's still a pretty good casting.

Nah, order isn't balance. Order is just one side of a balance. Order is stasis. Immutability. Stagnation. (And, IMO, the equivalent of the pinnacle of what Preservation could have been: keep things the way they are, without deviation.) Harmony would definitely fit as a balance, but order? Not so much, I'd say.

Seconded! (We must have evidence of this. For academic purposes, of course.)

Isn't that what the Internet was invented for? Welcome aboard. Edit: Your picture in your profile makes me think of Vin.

Understandable confusion. I was under the same misinterpretation until I read through these posts. >_>

We can probably attribute that to Brandon's tweet about the contest.
