“Umm…ok?”

He frowned at the tone of her voice. He didn’t know how to help. He was useless. So, not knowing what to say, he just held her.

“I can’t say I do either.”

“You must be a strong mistborn if you burned lerasium!”

“You’re amazing,” he whispered to her, still holding her tightly.

“…oh, right. Sorry.”

“That’s really cool!” Addison wished she had something like that.

“I think I’d prefer that. Do you have magic?”

“Is there a way we can find out? Magic would be nice, I think.”

“Huh, interesting. I wonder if I have magic.”

Absolutely horrifying and incredible.

“How do those work?” Addison asked, interested. “Are they music based?”

“Of course.” He let go of her hand, then wrapped his arms around her, her head still against his chest. He hugged her tightly, never wanting to let go.

That sounded like she had previous experience, but Addison didn’t want to pry. “That’s true. I hope she doesn’t hate me.”

“Oh, I see.” He was mad she worried about him, it meant she cared, but so the same time he hated that it bothered her. “I’ll stay safe, I’ll make sure both of us do, ok?”

“He seems nice. Everyone does, but I’m the one she yelled at, the one that started to make her freak out, even with good intentions.”

He squeezed it back. “Is everything ok?”

“I wouldn’t blame her if she hated me. I guess we’ll see.”

“I could tell. And probably Jinx, she hates me.”

Addison smiled at that. “Thank you.”

“That’s true. You don’t even know me though, how can you know?”

“…I guess. Pic seems like a good person, and so do you. I’m…well I’m just me.”

“My help rarely actually is useful. It tends to hurt more than it actually helps. Maybe I should just stop trying.”
