I do. He pulled her towards a large room, with many yells and squeals coming from it. Inside, the kids were wrestling.

He stood next to her, holding her hand tightly.

“Ok, let’s go. I’ll be right next to you.”

“I promise.”

He hugged her again. “Just tell me and we can come back here. We can wait here as long as you need.”

“Ok, are you ready?”

“I do, if you’re ok with it.”

“I like it too, and my family is nothing if not chaotic. But…well it might be good.”

“Well what?”

“They’ll love you.”

“I don’t know…do you want to talk to my family more?”

“Ok…that’s what I want, so I’ll be with you.”

“I want you to be happy,” he said immediately.

“If you want.”

“That’s a lie, but not a bad one.”

He scooted up next to her, then kissed her. “Thank you. Can I do this?”

“What do you mean?”

He tried, letting himself fall against her.

“I…it’s hard. I can’t.” He leaned back into her.

“I…acted, recently. I tried to take my own life.” He shrunk down. “I can’t do this.”

“I…I…sometimes I struggle with some things. And sometimes I act in ways that are…dangerous.”

“I…I don’t know where to start.” He leaned into her touch.

He sighed. “Should I tell them? Would it be best?” He seemed to legitimately want an answer.

“But you don’t think it’s the right one…”

“I do. Why would they need to know?”
