  1. He broke the kiss, keeping an arm around her. “We can’t leave yet, ok! We’ve already discussed this!”
  2. Should he ask her? No, he couldn’t. Not yet at least.
  3. “Did…” he didn’t want to think about it. A tear still escaped his eyes. “How many did you say you had?”
  4. He smiled back, then kissed her. Do I love her? He couldn’t get the thought out of her head.
  5. Edgar didn’t really see it, but that was ok. He smiled at her, holding her a little closer.
  6. The question came back to Edgar. Did he love this girl in his arms? He thought he might, but it was so confusing. He tried to push away the thought for now.
  7. “Indeed! And that one looks like a sword!”
  8. He leaned on her in return. Noticing her looking at the clouds, he did too. “That one looks kind of like a skull.”
  9. Edgar pulled her a little closer to him. He liked it when she was close to him.
  10. Edgar watched her. He thought he might be able to make a decent braid at this point, though nothing like what Lucid could probably do.
  11. Edgar took that opportunity to wrap an arm around her.
  12. Addison listened, confused by the conversation but enthralled none the less. She was trying to piece together what they were talking about, and she thought she was getting somewhere with it.
  13. Swing dancing, though like dances can sometimes be really fun. Have you ever been bitten by an animal?
  14. He kissed her forehead, then sat back, waiting.
  15. Edgar wanted desperately to help, but he wasn’t sure how he could. “I will,” he said. He sat next to her, then slowly slid his hand under one of hers, curling his fingers around it.
  16. “You look tired,” he whispered to her. “Are you sure you’re ok?”
  17. He clung to her, almost in desperation. He needed her to be ok, he needed her to be there, he needed her to be happy. He wondered if he loved her. Her tight he might, but he wasn’t sure yet. Time would probably tell. He wondered what love felt like. Was this it?
  18. He squeezed her hand. Then, that not being enough for him, he wrapped her on a hug. “I know you will be. I just…worry sometimes. I’m sorry.”
  19. “I know you will but…well I don’t want you to be hurting.” He tried-and failed-to smile back. Something seemed off, more than just the pain.
  20. “Are you sure? It looked like it hurt a lot before…” he said, looking very concerned.
  21. Edgar caught her, then helped her to the ground. “What is it? Is it your side? Do you need something?” She was hurting, what was wrong? He needed to help her.
  22. “Yeah, me too,” Edgar agreed. “Though age isn’t the only factor in people’s maturity. Sometimes being older just makes it easier for them to do harm…”
  23. “Sixteen, though not for much longer.”
  24. He smiled at her. Could he make good on that promise? There was a way…but Jenny had stopped him before. He wouldn’t do that. “Thanks.” Edgar blushed a little, but smiled.
  25. Edgar put an arm around her. “I won’t let him hurt you again though.”
