“Two, a brother and sister, both younger. He smiled. “I miss them sometimes, but I’ve never really fit in with them.”

Edgar hugged her. “I’m sorry.” He sat in silence for a moment. “Do you have any non-demigod siblings?”

“She’s incredible…she sent me to camp for my own good, I hate to leave her. But at the same time…well there’s a lot of stress involved when around someone like her. I have to be perfect, which, obviously, I’m not.” He shrugged. “What about you, unless you don’t want to answer?”

“If you want, there’s not much to tell though.”

Daniel reached out and caught her, helping her onto the cushion next to him. It was a tight fit.

“Don’t let her get close, she’ll push you off!” Jimmy yelled, jumping away from Jane.

Lily stepped closer, looking ready to jump at Rex.

Lily stepped towards her, wary, trying to test her reactions.

Jane leapt at Daniel, trying to push him off his cushion. He let her try for a moment, then picked her up and tossed her onto a small couch, laughing harder. “Nice try.”

“Ok…three, two, one, start!” Daniel laughed, stepping onto one of the pillows that littered the room.

“You just can’t touch the ground! It’s pretty easy to learn.”

“Yay! Do you know how to play the floor is lava?” he asked, jumping up onto a couch and finally staying still for a moment.

“Hey Rex! Do you want to play with us? And you Daniel?” His sisters had both stood up, looking much less silly than they had moments before.

“Hey, uhh…what’s your name again?” Jimmy said as Lily released him from her grasp. He started jumping around various pieces of furniture.

“Always.” He took a step forward towards the room.

“Ok. But you aren’t alone.” He squeezed her hand.

“We can go back if you want.”

“Ok, good. My family had a lot of snakes around before I…left. I was often the one that killed them, and the shovel was the method we used.”

He sat next to her. “Do you need anything else?” She looked tired.

Edgar grabbed a few painkillers. “Take these too, I’ll get you some water. Stay still, try to be comfortable.”

Edgar glared at him. “You won’t touch her. Why don’t you go sharpen your spear or something.”

He struck, and the snake dissolved. Edgar watched for more basilisks, but none came. He knelt down next to Jenny and pulled a medicine kit from his bag. He got out a fresh set of bandages. “You’ll need this.”

Edgar looked at her, worried. He stepped by her, and stood over her protectively, shovel raised. “Put pressure on it, try to stop the bleeding.”

“Are you still ok to do this?”
