“I…I…they need to be.” He was scared. Really scared. “Jenny is strong. She’ll get them both out of whatever mess they’re in.” Gift curled around Jenny’s arm. I’m here for you. @Lunamor

“I’ll go with you,” Edgar said immediately. She might need his help in the dream, if it was anything like the other.

“He had some, he can probably have a little more, just not a whole square.”

She looked at him, eyes betraying her hunger. “I won’t.”

“It is. As long as I’m with you.”

She devoured the sandwich quickly.

He sat up, then kissed her. “I’m happier when I’m awake.”

She ordered a small sandwich.

“You’re prettier when I can see you,” he said, opening his eyes again.

“Yes please,” she said, her instincts not letting her give up a free meal.

He did not go back to sleep, he was much too happy.

Her stomach rumbled at the mention of food. “I’m…not sure.”

He smiled wider, still not opening his eyes.

“I hope so. He probably will be. Eventually.”

“I don’t know how to.”

“It’s hard to not smile when I’m with you.”

“I don’t matter more. But…maybe my sister does.”

Her smiled wider and closed his eyes, still very much awake. But he could pretend.

“You would choose to die?”

“Or you could be killed.”
