“A week from today.”

She shrugged. “What do I do now?”

“But it’s your job to help them. This isn’t that.”

“I do. This shouldn’t be your problem.”

She looked down. “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t know how to,” she whispered. “You’re lying.”

She twitched as he touched her, but didn’t move away. “How?”

He led her to the bakery. “Have you seen my brother?”

“Let’s go then. We’ll check the bakery first.”

“I shouldn’t be here. They’ll find me. They’ll know.” Her eyes filled with fear.

We need to find him as soon as possible. He pulled on a pair of shoes. “Are you ready?”

“No, just scars.”

She looked back and seemed to find strength. “Thank you.”

“A year, or something like that.”

I will probably join this, I’ll make my character sheet later. What level are we?

“I’ll go get ready, we can start looking in a couple of minutes.”

“Beat,” she said quietly, looking down. She shouldn’t have run.

“We tried to run. They caught us. I was…punished.”

“We will. We can start looking for him. We can go through town, asking if people have seen him. He’ll be ok.”

She sank into the embrace, her tears finally spilling out. “He’s just a little boy.”

“I tried once.” She shuddered, hand unconsciously touching her back.

“No,” she whispered.

“Everywhere? He could be anywhere. He’s not in the house though.”
