  1. Emotions and logic don’t line up often, and that’s ok. I’ll just keep reminding you. And don’t hurt your head more, ok?
  2. He smiled against her mouth, trying to show her his love for her, and prove he wouldn’t leave.
  3. “Always,” he said, looking so into her eyes, almost entranced.
  4. “And I will keep loving you, no matter what.”
  5. Edgar smiled widely. The last person to show interest like that had been Kylee. He frowned slightly, he still missed her. Then he smiled again, turning back to the conversation. “Yeah, you could use poison darts. And…please be safe, testing poison on yourself doesn’t seem like a great idea.”
  6. “Hmm…that’s a hard one. Maybe my chariot.” His Gift flowed, forming a miniature chariot, intricate and beautiful. “It looked like that, see how in the side it has those holes? Those can be filled with darts and shot at opponents. And here,” he said, pointing to the back, “I store the… sorry, you probably don’t want to hear this. I know it’s boring.”
  7. He laughed. “I remember that, Kylee and I…well, we had a good laugh.” He grew solemn for a moment. “Anyway, I remember that time. Catapults are fun.”
  8. “I have an advantage,” he said, looking at his Gift. “Two actually, as my parentage makes me exceptionally good at crafts. But I like to carve devices, boats, catapults, things like those.”
  9. “I think I’d like that,” he said, smiling at her, feeling very relieved. “And it seems you like carving too, that’s a hobby of mine as well.”
  10. “…I see.” This is far beyond me. I have no clue what I’m doing. “What do you like to do? Other than practice necromancy and find cool flowers?”
  11. “I’m very sorry. What about an animal named Johnathan?”
  12. Edgar looked at the bird for a second, entranced by the strange details. The Gift did nothing to help his predicament. “Did you…ever have a cat?”
  13. “No, not that.” Reluctantly he brought out the gift. “What do we do?” he whispered to it.
  14. “Something isn’t right here. Something happened with that cat, it changed you somehow.”
  15. Edgar froze. What is this? “Jenny?! What’s happening? What’s wrong?”
  16. “What if…you had help?”
  17. Seeing the reaction it provoked, Edgar snatched away the Gift. Idiot idiot idiot, there’s a reason you don’t have friends. “Sorry, I don’t know what it did that.”
  18. “Do you really think you can’t win?”
  19. Edgar smiled widely. It was nice to be able help someone else, even in a small way. Slowly, the gift shifted into a…
  20. “Is it? That’s interesting…” thank you. He held it out. “I think it was meant for you, not me.”
  21. “People are…difficult to say the least. I guess it mostly just takes practice to see how they’re feeling. And as for being a Hephaestus kid, it’s tiring.” His gift slid out of his pocket and into his hand, making a small metal bird, which, for some reason, had its neck twisted wrong.
  22. “I love you too.”
  23. He smiled and kissed her quickly.
  24. “That’s good.”
  25. “Do you think so?”
