  1. Tell me if this is silly, but perhaps storing weight actually stores the gravitational force pulling you toward the planet rather than storing something physical within the body. In this way storing weight could be similar to Lashing.
  2. I finished The Spirit Thief and ended up reading all the three published books of the Eli Monpress saga. They actually get significantly better as you go on. Just finished reading Fahrenheit 451. I was surprised in a good way with this book. Before I read it, all I knew about it was that it had book burning. Before, I always assumed that in this world the government forced people to burn their book to keep the people uninformed. However, actually in the book, the people voluntarily asked the government to burn books for them, so that they would no longer feel stupid. Somehow this feels so much worse to me.
  3. Wax recognizes a speed bubble while being inside one. Outside a speed bubble the process might have been too fast to notice. And while a speed bubble would deflect bullets, I would imagine burning bendalloy would have given Tan more than enough time to place Lesslie in the path of the bullet and then drop the speed bubble in time to have it strike. I think the biggest piece of evidence to support the theory was that Tan stole bendalloy from Donal. Why else would he need to steal it?
  4. Second.Would Feruchemy Duralumin Connection work with zombies? If it did, I would just store it ALL the time so that they would not notice me. If it not, I would be a Bendalloy Feruchemist. In the zombie-apocalypse-world your diet would consist of starving for food and then have a food binge when you found a large stock. Neither of which would be healthy for your body. By storing food energy in a bendalloy mind, you could literally eat any and all food when ever you got the chance and then slowly consume it over time. Even if you have the best fortress and the best defenses against the zombie horde, it will be worth bunk if you starve to death.
  5. It you tapped healing while you have cancer then it would probably make the cancer grow faster. However, if you stored enough healing then it might make the cancer stop growing.
  6. Does Turtledove's Guns of the South count? I love that book.
  7. It was Terry Pratchett books that got me into audiobooks. I just finished the first book in the Rachel Aaron's Eli Moonpress trilogy. This was one of those rare cases when I thought the plot was weak (Aaron coddles her characters too much), but I liked the characters so much that I was willing to continue the series.
  8. Didn't Brandon somewhere say that Nicrosil metalminds could hold Preservation's power? If this is true, then I would imagine that Rashek would hold on to the power longer than a few minutes. He would not have to be so pressed for time to make the appropriate changes to the planet.
  9. On a side note, do Lurchers/Coinshots magically effect metal or do they magically effect magnetism?
  10. Wayne from AoL is almost too interesting for his own good. He is funny He can alter time He can rapidly heal himself He is a kleptomaniac He refuses to use guns He is a master of disguise He likes girls who can beat him up and he has a lucky hat What is not to love?
  11. This is an important distinction if Iron Feruchemist are storing weight or mass? The Coppermind Wiki states it is mass, but the Ars Arcanum states it is weight. Though saying "weight" might just be because from Scadrial have not identified mass yet. This distinction would make all the difference once they start traveling into space. Just as a Cadmium Allomancer can travel into the future past what would have been their "expected" life span, a bendalloy Allomancer would definitively have a shorter lifespan compared to everyone else. Though like you said, it might be a negligible amount of time, but it is still there.
  12. For the most part I am completely surprised by Brandon's books, but really that is why I keep reading them. If it counts though, I noticed in WoK that every chapter that began with a happy tone would end in an extremely sad tone. When Kaladin's bridge shield worked well, I remember thinking "damnation it. This is somehow going to turn out very bad."
  13. I am already now listening to the audio book of AoL after having read it only a few months ago. First off, love Michael Kramer's return as narrator. Second, I finally realized how Bloody Tan got Wax to shoot Lessie. Tan was a Slider. Earlier in the prologue Wax mentions that the outlaw Donal put a price on Tan's head for stealing his bendalloy. Tan the serial killer does not seem the type to steal for money, so it would be unlikely that he would steal the bendalloy for anything but to burn himself. So to put it simply; Tan burned the bendalloy, saw the path of Wax's bullet, and put Lesslie in the way. You may ask why he did not use the same ability to save himself afterward? Well it is not as thought Tan could have runaway with his speed bubble. Even if Tan had a full set of reserves, he would have eventually run out and got shot anyway. So either he did just run out of bendalloy or just decided to accept the inevitable after getting his last bit of revenge. I am not sure if someone already posted this or not, but I am having a blast already finding new things from the book from the first chapter.
  14. After finally reading The Mistborn Adventure game book, it seems that a Feruchemist could potentially dominate the mind of Steel Inquistor or other Hemalurgist. The kicker is that he or she can do this after the Feruchemist him or herself is dead. Brandon has said that a Hemalurgist can tap the metalminds of Feruchemist whose powers the Hemalurgist has stolen. This seems like an inconsequential ability at first, unless the Feruchemist has stored massive amounts of ability. However, what if a Feruchemist completely filled their copperminds of all their memories and completely filled an aluminummind with all their identity right before spikes were made from their body. If a Hemalurgist tried to tap these minds, they would find a whole other personality waiting to overtake them. That being said, I have no idea how long this identity would last from tapping or what would happen to the Hemalurgist's mind in the meantime?
  15. But with enough bad luck, you will burn your tin the moment your neighbors want to experiment with their new explosives and flash bangs. lolI think Zinc/Duralumin twinborn should be called a Casanova. They use Rioting and Connection to get a woman or man into bed, and after they are done, they can just fade into the background.
  16. That actually makes sense. I mean, in our world the difference in time between the first Model T and the first manned space flight was only about 50 years. I can imagine Scadrial making a similar jump.
  17. What I actually heard was that someone asked Brandon if a Compounder had special allomantic powers as well as special feruchemical powers. He said RAFO. This leads me to believe that there is something special a Compounder could do with allomancy. Since, as you essentially described, a Compounder basically burns a feruchemical charge allomantically then I assume that the same Compounder could also store an allomantic charge feuchemically.
  18. I think book 1 was great, but you could really tell that Dan Wells became a better writer in book 2. That being said, you could almost forgive the lack of descriptive details in book 1, compared to book 2, because it took place in the winter and therefore it had pretty drab surroundings anyway. Of course book 3 really brought the best of everything together. There are only a few books that have actually got me choked up at the end (1984 for example) and I Don't Want to Kill You was definitely one of them.
  19. I am still trying to understand what it means for a Compounder to store a Allomantic charge Feruchemically. For example, we saw Miles burn a Feruchemical charge Allomantically, but if he were to store his Auger ability in a gold metalmind what would that even do? Does it just mean that he could activate the Auger ability for a later date when he has no gold to burn? Or could he tap Auger faster as fyodor suggests? If he could, what would that do? Would it make the past/alternate self more real somehow, or make multiple past/alternate selves? The Augur ability seems to be the most obviously awkward ability to store Feruchemically, but a lot of the Allomantic abilities do not make sense to me being stored. The strength from Steel and Iron always comes from weight, so even if you could tap it faster it would not seem to make much difference. Maybe Bronze tapped more quickly could break a coppercloud, but for a much shorter time? And how would Duralumin factor into all of this?
  20. This brings up a point that actually makes the answer to the Lerasium/Atium alloy kind of boring. If Lerasium creates mistborn, and Lerasium alloyed with another metal makes a misting, then wouldn't a Lerasium/Atium alloy just make a Seer?
  21. Bendalloy Misting and Chromium Ferring. That way you could store luck and the time you have to spend unlucky is very short compared to everyone else.
  22. I am about halfway through Goliath by Scott Westerfield. If you've read it, don't give away the ending. All in all the whole Leviathan trilogy has been very satisfying. I would say that it was the model steampunk book, but it takes place after the Victorian era and therefore it is actually a dieselpunk book. Still, I would say a lot of potential steampunk writers could learn from the trilogy.
  23. Okay, I think I get it now. If I am reading this correctly, than what a Compounder does is burn Feruchemical charge Allomantically. It only works with double metals because the Compounder is basically tricking the system/(Investiture?) into activating the wrong power because it is so similar. I think someone mentioned that Brandon said that a Compounder could do this the other way around. So would that mean that Compounder could store a Allomantic charge Feruchemically? What would that even mean if a Compounder stored something like steel Pushing into a metalmind?
