  1. Nope. TPBM is listening to their brothers watch the Lego Batman Movie.
  2. I've always wanted to be a writer.

So why is it that every time I sit down to write the actual prose or whenever I have my notebook out and am frantically writing down an idea before it's forgotten, my mother says something along the lines of "Writing doesn't make any money" or "If you don't have woke cover characters--" (which I could not care less about, by the way. My characters are individuals with their own beliefs, emotions, and choices, I am not their puppet master, thank you very much) "--you won't get published" or the most-dreaded "what are you writing?"

And when I give a non-answer (because if she's never shown any interest in what I read, why the hell would she show any in what I write - seeing as they're pretty much the same thing) she gives me a look like "what do you have to hide?" No, mom, I'm not writing Fifty Shades of Gray, I'm not writing Game of Thrones, I'm not writing Twilight, I'm writing my own book.

I'm not copying someone else's work, I'm not trying to be a writer that I'm not, I have so much in my head that if I don't get it out I'm going to lose my mind. I have to write this down or it will be the end of me. It is my escape from the real world to one that is the product of my beliefs, thoughts, memories, hopes, dreams, and nightmares.

Originally, my college plan was to major in English or creative writing and minor in history. When I relayed as much to my mother, she - without hesitation - said that "writers don't make very much money" and "you should really do something more practical" and "I think your brain is more suited engineering"

    What

    The

[Word that would get my ban-hammered]

And because of that happening over and over I have abandoned my plan of getting an arts degree because I know that my mother - my dad grew up a total nerd and still is one, I have his 1st edition copy of The Silmarillion - would be if not utterly then quite disappointed.

know that writers don't make a lot of money, I know that big publishers are more likely to put my book out if I have "woke" characters, I know ALL OF THIS, AND I DON'T CARE!

I AM - AND WILL ALWAYS BE - A WRITER!

Absolutely, Cheesy. I wrote a thing about writing because it’s so true; maybe it won’t make us money, but it’s who we are. We write, and we aren’t going to stop because people don’t understand it. I wish you luck in whatever happens.

"Musician" by Porter Robinson comes to mind.

  3. Y'know that the last post will probably be Chaos telling us why he locked this thread, right?
  4. If contemporary means "released in the last four years" then no, not unless it's from one of the artists I follow on Spotify. TPBM has 2000+ liked songs on Spotify.
  5. Like a Seanchan High Blood?
  6. This is no longer for just my book, it's also for pretty much anything I do that's remotely related to writing in general.
  7. I do not. All of my toes and fingers are retained by my person. TPBM has never accidentally stabbed their friend in the finger with a pen.
  8. I have not. TPBM has scars on their hands.
  9. I don't have any. I leave that for the smarter people. TPBM runs too many mods in Minecraft and it overheats their PC.
  10. Ay wassup.

Just lettin' y'all that I am writing a book, and chapter... uh, four, I think, will be up by the end of the month. Link in my bio. If you read it, let me know what you think.

    Güd bye.

  11. I've already had dinner. TPBM is listening to a song with a sick bass drop.

"The Shadow shall rise across the world, and darken every land, even to the smallest corner, and there shall be neither Light nor safety."

-The Prophecies of the Dragon, The Wheel of Time

  13. The Last Of Us, The Witcher, Castlevania, and Game of Thrones.
  14. RootBeer, ig. The Elder Scrolls or Fable?
  15. Have you read The Wheel of Time?
  16. Spoiler

      THAT IS SOOOOO COOL!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Rootbeer Dune or The Lord of the Rings?
  18. Definitely Washington. The Pacific NW is my absolute favorite part of the country. BBQ or burgers?
  19. If you count the Tron Legacy soundtrack, yeah. TPBM has more than five pets, but less than thirteen.
  20. I'm about halfway done with The Tower of Fools by Andrzej Sapkowski. It is an historical fantasy novel set in 1490s Czechslovakia, Bohemia, and Poland and it draws - as with most of Sapkowski's writing - from Slavic myths, monsters, and legends. It's a pretty good book
  21. Game of Thrones reference in Skyrim??

    Spoiler

For those who don't get, Bran, one of the main characters, has a pet wolf.

  22. You can't. Not anymore.
  23. Anything by Christopher Nolan. What is you favorite type of game?
  24. I have. It's not my favorite, but it's fun. TPBM has never played Dark Souls.
