  1. That also describes half the cosmere Kaladin?
  2. How many chickens would it take to convince an elephant to join the ballet?
  3. What's your opinion on cheese?
  4. First of all, I hate this. Secondly, it's going down because the little lip things on the steps are usually not on the top of the step. Also, something about the shadows seems to indicate that to me but I couldn't tell you what exactly. Also, also, that was just my first impression so I'm sticking with it. At least 3. One would need to block the nostrils and the others would jump down its throat to block its airways. I think the average elephant larynx is at least 1.73 chickens wide, so two would be necessary. Possibly more depending on the size of the chickens and elephant in question.
  5. I'm bored at work and running out of ways to procrastinate. So ask me anything.
  6. How much tea is too much tea?
  7. Didn't I tell you to stop drawing red dots on the walls in sharpie? I tried, but I couldn't get the cello to fit.
  8. I play a lot of Ark Survival Evolved. Which is a game absolutely full of bugs. One of the funnier visual bugs is when sometimes half of your character's hair just decides to stick straight up. There's also one where "sleeping" characters just randomly stand up and they just... sleep stand I guess. What's your favourite comfort food on a rough day?
  9. It would certainly be more interesting from a storytelling perspective if they were slowly being buried. If he ever were to write more on there that is. But I have no idea if he plans to write more on Lumar.
  10. It's possible. Maybe there's something that eats spores at the bottom. More spores can sustain a greater population of whatever they are and they eventually reach an equilibrium.
  11. No, I don't think there was. It was just implied that all known land was islands. That, combined with the fact that we know that the aethers are not native to Lumar so the spore seas weren't always there, suggests to me that the planet is slowly being buried by the spores and the current "islands" on which people are living are probably what used to be mountains. I mean... they wouldn't necessarily notice. It might be a slow enough process that it's hard to notice within the life span of one person. Kind of how we know Venice or the Netherlands are slowly "sinking" and have been for a very long time. It's speeding up now due to global warming, but it's been going on for a long time, though not necessarily in a way that was easily noticeable day to day or year to year. It could also just be that it wasn't particularly relevant to the story so Hoid left it out.
  12. The fact that the land mass is mostly islands though does seem to suggest that the planet is in fact slowly being buried. That isn't to say there isn't something going on at the bottom. It could just be that whatever the process of spores being degraded is slower than the spores pouring from the moons, so the levels of the spores are slowly increasing.
  13. TenSoon!
  14. First of the Sun is also cool. But I feel like we know even less about Threnody.
  15. Welcome I'm also new to the community (though not so new to Brandon). I would strongly recommend checking out some reading order suggestions... I personally tend to lean towards reading/watching stuff in as close to publication order as is feasible in these big shared universe stories. Though I do think Era I mistborn is the best place to start.
  16. Hmm, I don't know. I like them both for different reasons. But if I had to choose one for myself... probably surgebinding. That's hard to choose. The one that fascinates me the most right now is Threnody. Mostly because I know so little about it.
  17. Hi everyone, I'm Rae. I've been a sanderson fan for a few years now and I've finally read *most* of his cosmere stuff. Enough that I feel comfortable joining this community without fear of spoiling myself completely So just saying hi
  18. Brandon has said that this book takes place in the future of the cosmere. The "present" is the time when Stromlight and Wax & Wayne are happening. But this happens an undetermined amount of time afterwards. There's a WoB on that but I'm at work and can't look for it rn. We also know that the time when Hoid narrates this is some time after the events take place, but not centuries after.
  19. Well yes, and it's possible he just decided to adopt it as a nickname on other wolds too after his time on Roshar. But we have no way of knowing that and clearly he chose to go by Hoid on Lumar. It was said in a *wink* *wink* sort of way and the only place we know of him going by that name at this time is Roshar.
  20. At at least one point, he makes reference to himself being Wit, so I'm guessing whoever this is being told to includes some Rosharans. Or at least people who know of the role he took as King's Wit.
  21. Ah, I see. I had understood it as it needs to be put in spoiler tags for x amount of time outside of its spoiler forum. Thanks for clarifying. All the better that I didn't know how to do it then. should I edit my post to remove that reference completely? It doesn't to my mind spoil anything for ToES, but now im unsure.
  22. Personally, I'm more inclined to think this similarity in abilities to some of the Allomantic powers reflects the deeper workings of the cosmere, rather than it having something to do with Scadrial.
  23. Well, we know there are 12 seas. one for each moon. They're not all named in the book though, mostly just those that Tress uses the spores of. So I guess it's implied that there's a Sunlight Sea. But it might also be called something else like the golden sea or something, since not all seas are named the same as their spores. Or at the very least some seas have two names.
