      OC just means 'original character' and in my experience is mostly used when someone is talking about a character they've created entirely on their own (with their own world and story). I also think it's more common to refer to your characters as OC's within the artist space, but take that with a grain of salt.

      For some reason I always thought it was applied to characters put into other people's stories through fanfiction or fanart or whatnot. Like, there's a need to specify "even though this is in the world of this other thing I made this character, it's not from the original story." 

      Grated, my experience in this stuff is severely limited, but that's where I've heard the term OC being used the most.

      Yeah it's used for that too, but in my experience it's more so for completely original stuff. It's an umbrella term, if you will.

    Sasha’s eyes widened, then filled with tears. She… she could feel things again. And smell things, and the colors were so much more vivid than she remembered, and HOLY CHASMS was she STARVING. She stared down at her hands, then threw her arms around Lady Bug, barely holding back her tears. “Thank you,” she whispered. “Oh, chasms and stars, thank you.”

    Her eyes widened. “Really? Can… can I have tattoos like him?” She pointed to Bat. “I always wanted tattoos. But Maren wouldn’t let me get any.” Jazz and I were gonna get matching ones one day.
