  1. The Second Archive “Long hallway,” Rue commented.
  2. I made the mistake of watching videos of my old school's show choirs. And I keep going to all their incredible theatre performances. It was a mistake; now I'm pondering what I want to do with my life and thinking about the future and regretting every life choice I've ever made.

Luckily, I have a pile of books set aside just for these kinds of situations!

Now I don't have to deal with any real problems or homework or anything!!

  3. The Caterpillar began drinking the souls of the long dead grasshoppers. It developed a mouth and smiled in satisfaction. Souls taste lovely, It conveyed.
  4. I would absolutely read it too. Writing is so good at conveying such strong emotions, and you do a really good job of it.
  5. Rayvyn groaned. "May I eat it? If not, I do not understand what purpose it serves."
  6. The Second Archive “It would be ironic if we missed another battle while attempting to help.”
  7. Rayvyn looked at her for a long moment. “I cannot tell if you are mocking me, or if you people simply like using words I do not know.”
  8. Rayvyn ducked under his hand, a knife halfway up before she realized what she was doing. “I do not think I believe you. But it makes no difference.”
  9. The Second Archive “Let’s go then,” Rue said. “Unless it’s a trick, which isn’t out of the question, this is probably where we’ll find it.”
  10. Rayvyn shrugged. “I suppose the people are not terrible. And your soup is good as well.”
  11. "No, it's..." she grunted. "I do not like words. He has magic. I cannot die without fighting against it." She shrugged. "And he is sort of dead. I do not know what he could do."
  12. The Second Archive Rue nodded and followed him. “What’s at the end of the hall?”
  13. Lots of dead grasshoppers. Snails too. The Caterpillar conveys.
  14. Rayvyn shook her head. "The soup is good, but why? Why do you need to distract yourselfs from what will come to us all?"
  15. It’s too late now. I have a new strategy though! I keep a crocheted doomslug in my pocket and pull it out at random times, then scan the room for educated people.
  16. The Second Archive "Yup," Rue says, turning back to the books. "Will balefire let us reach what we need?"
  17. Gah that would be terrible!
  18. He turned around. I gave the most awkward smile you can imagine. Actually, probably worse. He said, "Don't slip on the crem," and walked away. I haven't tried it again since.
  19. The Second Archive "I make no promises," Rue muttered. The balefire formed near his feet.
  20. The souls of dead grasshoppers in a frisbee, the Caterpillar conveys.
  21. The Second Archive Rue weaves balefire and carefully aims it at him. “If this kills you, remember that it was your idea.”
