“What the—” Eddie groans. “You’re trying to judge between me and Athena? Great. Just great.” She dodges a tree. “Oi!” She shouts. “All you who can do magic! Does one of you want to—I don’t know—get rid of him?”
Eddie makes a face at him. “What in the—we are going, and no way. You don’t get to call me ‘kid’. I’ll shoot you. Er…again.”
Eddie starts running again. “I don’t need your protection, Princess.” She says it with a smile, but her eyes are hard. “And I’m not afraid.”
“Nope, definitely not! It’s…uh…the shapeshifter up there! The one that currently looks like a dog? Yeah, that’s who you were sent for!” Eddie scrambles to her feet, a hand on her gun.
Eddie continues grinning. “We can talk later. When there’s time. But…uh…that one,” she gestures at xq “is right. We can’t stay in any one place for too long.”
Eddie blinks, cheeks flushing. “Well, yeah,” she says, “if I died, we’d have a whole new set of problems.” She pulls her hands away and smirks, cursing inwardly.
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
Eddie rubs her eyes. "Nope! Magic is great! It's fantastic! Love it! Couldn't be more in love with magic! Used to use it all the time!" She glances towards where the tigress walked off. "Nevermind. Nevermind. Let's just...do something important."
