Eddie smiles at her too, warmly now that she “knows” how Lil feels about her. A friend of Lil’s is a friend of hers. “I am. It looks like we all had a good sleep.”

“Oh,” Eddie says. “Oh.” She reaches out and grabs Lilyana’s hand and squeezes it. “I’m here, Lil. No matter what, I’ll always be here to rescue you, Princess.”

“O-kay. Vena it is, then. Good to meet you? Again? Do you know where we’re going?”

Eddie laughs too. “It was a good idea.” She frowns. “Like…a robot? But you can think…”

“Wait, how does that even…what?”

It’s very tragic, actually. Uh…magic happened Robin.

Eddie smirks knowingly, again shoving down any negative emotions. She’s my friend, and I’ll support her, no matter what. “If you say so, Princess.” Eddie blinks at him. “Uh…wow. Okay. You look…very different.”

Mya contemplates oranges.

Eddie laughs. “You can tell me anything, Lil. Princess. You know that, don’t you?” Then she laughs again. “It’s okay, I’m not going to push you. But…what happened while I was out?”

Eddie grins at Lilyana. “Lil,” she whispers, “I didn’t know you had a crush!”

Eddie suddenly sits up straight (I assume she’s in the train?) and opens her eyes to see Lil…oh. She bites her lip, ignoring the sadness and…was that jealousy? No, no, it wasn’t. It wasn’t. Lil was her best friend, that was all, she was more than that to Aster, then good for her. Eddie wasn’t going to interfere. She sat back and waited for them to wake up.

Ignoring the rest of her entourage, Eddie walked to the middle of the arena, where the ground raised slightly under her. “Children!” She called again, “Come to Mother!” All the tributes suddenly feel an unnatural urge to walk towards her. Cassian does not.
